Guest Mee-9 Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 I hope the club have a minutes silence on Saturday. Saturday's game against Nottingham Forest, will now be marked with a minutes silence to show appreciation for everything Bobby did for the club.Leicester City Football Club's thoughts are with Bobby's wife Dot and the rest of his family. RIP, never had the chance of seeing him play, dad said he was a decent player. Thoughts go to his Friends and Family. RIP Bobby Smith.
hibeeleicester Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 RIP bobby a great man!!! Loved by all hibs and foxes fans! Would be nice for a Hibs v Leicester game in memory for bobby with all money going to charity!!
nickm Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 remember him being a proper hard nut, i remember him having some proper battles with west ham's billy bonds, rip bobby!
niffybs Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Great Bloke and A Great player, quite a saturday nite regular in the Axe and Squre Niffy..
Bob666 Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Great player and brings back fond memories of my early days to Filbert Street watching Jock Wallace's team. I seem to remember him bombing down the wing.......I also remember my dad calling him Nesbit Smith (maybe it was his middle name). Another sad loss to cancer........
Wycombe Fox Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Very saddened by Bobby's passing away. Probably saw most of his games for City and never disappointed in any way. Always gave 110% RIP and thanks for the autograph.
jonthefox Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 It was a pleasure to have seen you play for Leicester City. Agreed. One of the players i aspired to be as a kid. very, very sad.
ousefox Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 I hope the club have a minutes silence on Saturday. Ther will be according to the OS. To young to ever see him play but seen videos of him. RIP
iancognito Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Would be nice for a Hibs v Leicester game in memory for bobby with all money going to charity!! Pre-season friendly in the summer would be a cracking idea. RIP Bobby, I think he'd not long left when I started going in the 80s but he was a great little player by all accounts. I saw us on Big Match revisited the other night vs Newcastle and he ran rings round a few of their players.
Salieri Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 RIP Bobby, very sad news. Was one of my fave players.
Solihullfox Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 RIP, thoughts to his family, at least the pain is over for him. What a committed player he was for City.
Vacamion Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 A sad loss. Great memories. Proper Leicester player.
Daggers Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Gutted is the word. One of my all time favorite players. My words exactly.
leftsideoverhere Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 I can still picture him from the 80s Leicester team that I watched as a teenager. Gave the city eight years of full-on commitment. Sad loss. RIP Bobby.
Lisburn Fox Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Truly Gutted, watched him play many times. I would guess he was in his 50's which is quite young any idea if this was an illness. My thoughts to all of his family.
leftsideoverhere Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Lisburn, it was announced at a recent match that he was suffering from cancer. Hence someone earlier in this thread saying his death was "not a surprise". Despite vast improvements in cancer survival rates over last 20 years, it's still a killer. Sad day.
Bert Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Here's hoping for a minutes applause on Saturday. R.I.P Bobby.

Many Thanks Sad day indeed, unfortunately don't get to many games nowadays, so did not pick up on the news. Did get over for the Barnsley game and saw the Wellers at half time. Very moving.
crisp monster Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 One of my all time favourite City players The Jock Wallace era was when i first started coming up with my dad and he was one of the stand out players Very proud and honoured to have seen him play Hope both sets of fans give him and his family the tribute they deserve this Saturday RIP
C.J Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 R.I.P, sad loss. From what my Mum was telling me, he was a awsome player. Must take some balls to decide not to have any treatment for it. Am I the only one who thinks a minutes silence is a recipe for disaster, especially against forest? I'd rather have a minutes appaluse to be honest.
Houdini Logic Posted 24 February 2010 Posted 24 February 2010 Here's hoping for a minutes applause on Saturday. Exactly my thoughts
