teblin Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Posh have refused offers from Leicester City, Reading and Watford to take the former Dagenham and Redbridge striker on-loan for the rest of the campaign. CMS
Guest Mee-9 Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Was he the 2nd loanee? Mackail-Smith's abit hit and miss for me. Some times he's good, sometimes he's a Chocolate Teapot.
Daggers Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has refused three offers for striker Craig Mackail-Smith because he is a firm believer in the 'great escape', the Easter Bunny and fairies.
Daggers Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 ...and makes you wonder why this is news today on the BBC: Director of football Barry Fry told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "He'll want to play football. The manager's got no problem with letting him go on loan."Gannon recently signed Liam Dickinson from Brighton and has opted to play with only one striker in recent games. With Mackail-Smith now the third choice forward, after Dickinson and Aaron Mclean, Gannon may have to let the former Dagenham player go out on loan. "I've had a word with the lad and I understand his concerns but there's a lot of games coming up," said Gannon. "If he gets frustrated we have to make a decision about whether it's in his interests, or our interests, to let him go out and play football." Meanwhile defender Gabby Zakuani came through 60 minutes of reserve football and should be fit to travel to Swansea this weekend. But he'd hardly be first choice here either
Cobbo Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 I think we'd look to play him on the wings to be honest where he'd be a cracking little player. His finishing lets his whole game down big time so wouldn't want him through the middle..
peterborofox Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Runs around a lot, never lacks effort, will chase a lost cause, but needs 3 chances to score. Not a Championship player IMO, and I'd question why we would want him anyway. Is not as good as Waghorn, Kermo, Howard or Gallagher.
lildave3 Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 How on earth is he third choice behind those two
peterborofox Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 How on earth is he third choice behind those two Simply becasue he misses too many, but so does McClean. Dickinson is a 'big' striker they have needed for ages, so really there is only one spot left and it seems to go to McClean, I'd rather play CMS for his work rate but I wouldnt want any of them here anyway.
Tuna Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Not good enough for the champsionship. Even that No hoper Izale McLeod is ahead of him at Posh.
Daveaway Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 Hmm not sure on this, not for me!! no better than we already have, we need players who will improve the team.
AmericanScott Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 Thought he was excellent in League 1. At the beginning of the season, i'm sure i said somewhere i'd love to see us snap him up. Although he hasn't done well in the CCC, it's most likely down to the fact he's in a piss poor P'boro side. Pearson would sort him out.
Fox92 Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 Never mind all this 'he needs three chances to score' I think Nigel would have got him in for back up, just like Alex Bruce, surely? And to have him as back up isn't too bad as he is a nice, little, cracking player. I think he could provide back up, Fryatt's injured, you can't compare him to Howard and Kermogrant as he offers something different, leaving Waghorn and maybe Gallagher, if he's counted as a striker. Would have liked to seen him as back up to the side, if he does run around alot and chase lost causes, then bringing him on for Waghorn would have seemed reasonable. Thats all if he was coming in as back up, couldn't see him offering a different role As above, he is in a shocking Peterborough team. He may need 'three chances to score' at London Road, but bring him elsewhere and he might have done the stuff needed. Just look at DJ...
Ric Flair Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 He'd be a useful addition, but I think the one type of player that we are missing is a Mark Davies/Tom Cleverley sort. If we could unearth a player like that, then the play-off's are almost a cert in my opinion. Our defence and goalkeeper are in tremendous form, but other areas are blowing hot and cold. King is a fantastic player, but doesn't turn games on it's head. Oakley and Wellens are a much of a muchness this season. We are lacking that inspirational midfielder. Perhaps Solano can bring some of those qualities when he's fully fit. If I was Pearson and Mandaric, then i'd be belling up Simon Jordan and wafting a sweet little million in front of his eyes to take Darren Ambrose on loan for the rest of the season. Goals, panache, play-offs. Too easy.
suffolk fox Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 CMS is a good player at this level. Some of you are forgetting he tore us apart at London Road last season with his pace and he set up their second goal! Would be a useful addition but I can't see that useless lump of lard Barry Fry letting him go, or their idiot of a chairman !
Babylon Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 To those saying "he needs three chances to score he's not good enough". Please tell me which striker who converts every chance they get is available on loan, in February?
Dr The Singh Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 To those saying "he needs three chances to score he's not good enough".Please tell me which striker who converts every chance they get is available on loan, in February? Believe me, I would take any striker who scores one in three chances!!
Head Honcho Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 Not good enough for the champsionship. Even that No hoper Izale McLeod is ahead of him at Posh. Not the same Izale Mcleod that half the posters on here were creaming their pants about 3 years ago when they decided we should sign him off of Wycombe!!!
Daveaway Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 SSN reporting that Peterborough have rejected offers from Championship clubs for Mackail-Smith. Not going to lose any sleep over this.

Part Of The Crowd Posted 26 February 2010 Posted 26 February 2010 Not good enough for the champsionship. Even that No hoper Izale McLeod is ahead of him at Posh. If he sorts himself out Izale Mcleod has more talent than all of the other strikers at Peterborough combined. Such a clever, quick and deadly player for us in any system regardless of who was around him.
