Jimothy Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 The orange one has gone. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/mobile/football/teams/h/hull_city/8567985.stm Seems odd they did well against Arsenal, it's not like they've suddenly found themselves down the bottom if the league.
Fosse Boy Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 I have no sympathy for Hull or any of this ilk of team who fluke their way into the top flight and then, expecting a divine right to stay there, sack the very people who they have to thank for their present status. He's a tool but this is a moronic decision on their part.
Jon the Hat Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 On the plus side, a Chairman called Pearson is unlikely to try and appoint a manager named Pearson.

Fosse Boy Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 So which is it? Is it a fluke or is it a good job by Brown and his staff? Well spotted. I was being flippant when I said "fluke". What I meant by that was without someone like Brown at the helm, Hull would never have stood a chance of achieving the relative success they've had.
James. Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 Shock horror - over achieving club sack manager after poor run of results. AFIE is right, it's a moronic decision but hardly surprising.
Joe. Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 Pretty baffling really. I am by no means a Phil Brown fan but there's no denying he's done well at Hull to get them where they are today. It's not as if a new manager can have a huge amount of influence at this stage of the season anyway...
Jon the Hat Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 I think they must be optimistically hoping that a bounce from a new manager will give them the 3 or 4 wins that might just keep them up, starting with Portsmouth.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 No betting currently on Pearson. Would be no chance of him leaving for Hull anyway.
Corky Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 At least wait until the end of the season. Odd timing.
purpleronnie Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 Don't particualry agree but bringing in a new manager can sometimes have a dramatic effect. One win in 16 matches. Can't say I'm surprised.
CosbehFox Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 The 'Gardening Leave' suggests it's more than a footballing decision.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 The 'Gardening Leave' suggests it's more than a footballing decision. Embezelment to pay for the copious bottles of fake tan? Maybe!
ousefox Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 Brown got them there in the first place so he must be pretty pissed as he would probably still be in a job if they had stayed in the top half of the championship for the last few years.
dandannieldanok Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 Don't see how it's a baffling decision, take into consideration Hull's form in the last 6 months of the 08/09 season coupled with this season they have been doing dreadfully under Phil Brown. Plus the bloke is a moron to boot.
Ozwin Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 He's won 6 games in 40 something. He should have been given the boot a long time ago.
FoxyPV Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 Can't say i'm surprised as they didn't win a game for about 5 months last year after he dressed them down on the pitch at city. They stayed up by results going their way on the last day of the eason. Granted they have being playing better but they have as much defensive awareness and cohesion as a bunch of weasels in a paper bag. Myhill had to 'mare for the shot that led to Bentdner's goal.

But he also kept out a host of 'certain' goals against Tottenham earlier this season Not that a point against Arsenal would've put them in a much better situation. The board must've felt that he's lost the dressing room at this point. It's strange timing, but apparently they think they have nothing to lose...
FoxyPV Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 But he also kept out a host of 'certain' goals against Tottenham earlier this season I'm not arguing with that point but he should have done better on Saturday.
Simi Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 Portsmouth next for them right? Seems a well timed decision hoping for the old "Sack the manager, win the next game" theory!
MPH Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 I Dont imagine they would find someone of any real quality who would be willing to take the Job.
ozleicester Posted 16 March 2010 Posted 16 March 2010 Not a fan of his, but this "sack the manager" mindset is absurd. Surely the club realise they dont belong in the Prem and the fact that he took them up there is a credit to him and the team. They now have some extra cash and parachutes to look forward to so they can continue to build and try again.
