caz05 Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Up untill the new formation i think Oakley was a cert to be dropped, but just recently he's improved ten fold. For me I'd drop Wellens, it could be the kick up his a*** he needs. Its not that he's performed badly, just not at the levels he performed earlier this season and IMO King & Oakley are playing better at the moment. Cracking signing though. Yes i agree
lou Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Yes! Now we can drop Oakley. Never gonna happen, Wellens and/or King will get dropped
Corky Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Never gonna happen, Wellens and/or King will get dropped Pearson did drop Oakley a few games ago, if I recall correctly? I can't see him dropping King right now.

I wouldnt want him to but Oakley seems get dropped less than any of the others. I remember him getting brought off at Barnsley away I think, I nearly died of shock. My memory is shite though so you could be right

StanSP Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Just some more info on him from a Liverpool fan: I saw him live more than a year ago in Eindhoven and he was very lively, aggressive, showed great dedication and was quite effective winning balls in midfield. My impression was that he should keep the good work and work on his passing, which was decent back then, but not quite as good for what's required at that level. Well, in the last year his aggression was somehow reduced and I didn't think he was as good as promised when he first started. Hopefully it was all due to the long waiting and not getting enough chances for first-team football, although a professional must learn to deal with this. Now, I'm not saying he's being unprofessional, so I think that a first-team football(hopefully) in a side like Leicester, where he could play a bigger role are perfect for him at the moment. I expect him to do great and develop well there. How's your manager with young lads?
Shrenchel Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 If he's half as good at football as he is at being fvcking ugly then we're going up.
Kilworthfox Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 If he's half as good at football as he is at being fvcking ugly then we're going up. I always wondered what happened to the kid from This is England
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 If he's half as good at football as he is at being fvcking ugly then we're going up. I seem to remember last seeing him standing on a bridge belting out a mean tune on his banjo. Hope we sign him!
samjohnson Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 I'd sell Oakley at the end of the season IMO... ive never rated him anyway... This will be a good signing if and when it happens
Guest Mee-9 Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Will be intresting to see if he plays tomorrow. Bit more competition for the Midfield places never does any harm.

unreachable Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 The most important thing is that it adds more competition in the central midfield area which has been lacking. Keeps King, Wellens and Oakley on their toes. Perfect point! Oakley looked tired towards the end of matches (against Coventry and Crystal Palace) so Spearing may add some fight and guile in central midfield in the second half of games.
Ozwin Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 I have a feeling he's going to be an absolute revelation.
Jonezy Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Welcome Jay! Sounds like an inspired signing - lets hope it also turns out to be one!
ousefox Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Great signing. Will probably get a go off the bench tomorrow if he is in the squad.
RowlattsFox Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Should be a good signing. I do think Oakley's been getting a bit of a raw deal recently though, I think he's done reasonably well in the advanced midfield role. I just think the amount of games we've played recently is catching up with him and he tires after half time quite quickly, can never fault his effort though. I think we're missing a more defence minded midfielder, especially when we're holding on in games.
Joe. Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Always thought of him as the bulldog midfield type, sweeping up and the sort. I think he'll be a useful addition on first thoughts, we've certainly lacked a midfielder of his type in recent times. Quite like the idea of him holding with two of King/Oakley/Wellens playing a bit more advanced.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Excellent loan signing. Could well be the final piece in the jigsaw for us. We have been crying out for a Neil Lennon type player fthis season and I am starting to believe we may have a very good chance of promotion.
Matt Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Loan signing until the end of the season - So that means the last game of the season? What about if we do finish in the playoff/when the playoffs start, will we lose Waghorn, McGivern and Spearing or can we extend their loan signing during the playoffs at the players parent clubs descretion? This has just dawned on me.

They have to take their suitcases to the ground with them against Middlesbrough and as soon as the final whistle goes they get chauffeur driven back to their respective clubs.
fatmando Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Great signing! Do we expect to see him in action in the 2nd half tomorrow night?

Become a bit of an easy target for some people on here. Glad to have another player adding to the competition for midfield though, if he turns out to be as good as the last couple of Liverpool loanees I'll be happy
