C-man Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 Liverpool mates seem to rave about him. Could be tidy, this.
Flynny Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 Oakleys looked better lately but I'd like to see what king can do behind the front three and have Wellens and this guy looking after the centre-backs. Even though Oakley looks liberated and constructive King always looks more like scoring and can knock a mean through ball.
sdb Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 Heard good things about him. Fairly unattractive if it's who I think it is. We need more central midfielders so this would be v good IMO
foxoffderby Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 My Liverpool mate says hes a box to box player and can pass. Under utilised by Rafa. Very happy if it happens
Fox in a Box Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 He has been on alot on liverpool.tv reserve games, looks solid 'lennon' type and most things that come from liverpools academy look half decent.... wonder if liverpool are looking at KING?
Daggers Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 hes a box to box player Like John Terry then... ...I'll get my coat.
Bryn Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 Heard he's versatile, both fullback positions and central midfield, bit short for centre back though. Meant to be hard as nails as well.
davieG Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 He's played CL so must be decent enough. Youtube is all that counts towards being decent.
iancognito Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 Seen him play for them in the League cup a couple of times this season, could be a midfield Waghorn and lets be honest if you're rated as good enough to captain the Liverpool youth team, you can't be doing much wrong in your career. The only flip side from that is that I wonder why we're borrowing the likes of McGivern & Spearing when our own youth team has been flying this season?
CosbehFox Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 The only flip side from that is that I wonder why we're borrowing the likes of McGivern & Spearing when our own youth team has been flying this season? Tbf McGivern and Spearing are 20 and 21....the next stage of development, the academy lads are under 18's. In that age group, we probably have King....and err that's about it from the academy.
Ajax Treesdown Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 on LFC official now.....Starlet set for Foxes
AmericanScott Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 Like John Terry then... ...I'll get my coat. Quality post!

Lineker's Left Foot Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 OK, I ain't no Tom Cruise, but Mr Spearing ain't half an ugly get !!
Daggers Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 OK, I ain't no Tom Cruise, but Mr Spearing ain't half an ugly get !! Beautiful. Or rather - not. People called Jay are ace.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Trouser staining news. I mean in a jizz way, not a shit myself way.
lildave3 Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Brilliant signing if it happens imo. Always thought he looked a good player whenever he's played for Liverpool.
harpendenfox Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 I rather like that we're shopping at Liverpool these days, even if it is in the bargain department. Not so long ago the Club was inviting us to get excited over the 'double swoop' for Andy Johnson and Josh Low.
Jimmy Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 I think Spearing could be the missing piece in our midfield jigsaw as at the moment all our midfielders are pretty much the same, fairly attack minded but playing within themselves and generally playing deeper then they would like to be. at the minuet both King and Wellens sit deep with Oakley in the Gerrard role in more of a 4-4-1-1 system then 4-3-3, with none really shining. Spearing is a genuine holding midfielder and his inclusion would allow the other 2 players to focus more on attacking knowing they have somebody who will constantly sit and protect the back 4 all game long. The question becomes who should miss out from the other options? To me King is a must, he contributes at both ends, plays neat and tidy football and is a genuine goal threat from dead balls or open play, plus neither of the other 2 have a goal to their name this season. Wellens to me is more a play maker then a goalscorer his range of passes is second to none at the club and he can unlock most teams at this level quite easily and Spearing's presence could allow him to base his games 5-10 yards further forward which would allow him to pick out better more incisive passes then when pretty much sitting on the half way line. Oakley, in my opinion is playing the best he ever has since we signed him with this current system, seems to of formed a good understanding with Waghorn as well and will also drift wide at times which allows the wingers to cut in offering Waghorn proper support through the middle as well. I don't believe the captaincy is an issue either as NP has took Oakley off as the 1st change a few times recently and I don't think he's carrying any injuries. Personally I'd go for a midfield 3 of Wellens Spearing King and allow King to be the most advanced of the 3 with Wellens picking out the runs of the wingers and striker.
BedsFox Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 I have three Liverpool fanatic friends, one (the second comment) is a scout in the area for a League team Their feedback to me as follows 1 Spearing is a terrier. Bit of a pint-sized Gerrard. Will do a very good job for you, and excellent loan-signing. Not sure how permanent he'd be though. I think he's got a future at top level, but I also thought the same about John Welsh, and he's been loaned here there and everywhere before arriving at Tranmere. I don't think he was quick enough for the top level, but Spearing's a different animal - the question about him is if he's big enough I guess. 2 I would say that I dont think he'll make it at Liverpool, he's 22 later this year and has 3 1st team games to his name. Jack Hobbs has nearly 100 and is only 3 months older, he's certainly benefitted from goin a step backwards to possible take 2 forward. You'll take to him, he's very likeable, a real trier, leaves nothing out there on the pitch. 3 I like him. Quick, good shot, ok dribble, total workhorse and a bit of a football brain. Will end up in the prem imo.
LCFC-TOM Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Up untill the new formation i think Oakley was a cert to be dropped, but just recently he's improved ten fold. For me I'd drop Wellens, it could be the kick up his a*** he needs. Its not that he's performed badly, just not at the levels he performed earlier this season and IMO King & Oakley are playing better at the moment. Cracking signing though.
Edmund Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 The most important thing is that it adds more competition in the central midfield area which has been lacking. Keeps King, Wellens and Oakley on their toes.
