maddog Posted 27 April 2010 Posted 27 April 2010 A crucial result earlier in the season was a nice 1-0 win at Middlesbrough, thanks to a Lloyd Dyer goal, our first away win of a cracking season. There will be a real carnival atmosphere, the so called 'fans' who joined the League One party game against Scunny last season, will be out in force to celebrate our playoff place this season. Such a shame that they have missed a quite beautiful couple of seasons in League One and The Championship, boy have those fans missed out on something very special. I can't remember in my lifetime, 2 seasons on the spin of this quality, fantastic results, fantastic football and great goals. It has been awesome to be a LCFC fan. And we still have at least 2 playoff games to look forward too, whether watching them at the grounds or on the TV. Then possibly Wembley, how amazing would that be. I've still not been to the new Wembley and to go there watching LCFC in a playoff final for the first time would be great. I'm going to go with a 2-1 win here, fingers crossed Kermo can grab some confidence with a goal, Waghorn with the other
Dylan Posted 27 April 2010 Posted 27 April 2010 Reckon we'll rest some of our key players, so i reckon it'll be a draw. Wouldnt a bad result, keeps our unbeaten run going into the playoffs. Hopefully Kermo gets a goal or two- give him some confidence. Would be great if Fryatt bags a goal too. My prediction- City 2-2 Boro (King, Fryatt)
StanSP Posted 27 April 2010 Posted 27 April 2010 Comfortable win I think. 2-0 with Waghorn and Gally on scoresheet. Don't think Pearson is the kind of manager who will rest so many key players just because it's last game of the season. Think he'll want to keep the momentum going and not risk confidence being broken.
milan_foxes Posted 27 April 2010 Posted 27 April 2010 Only time i've been to the 'New Wembley' was to watch Oasis, Kasabian & Reverend and the Makers there... BLOODY BUZZING! If we do get to the Final maybe it'll be the same atmosphere

This season I have got to 19 games, 13 of which have been at home. As I don't live in Leicester, it is often impractical for me to go to too many games due to cost/time restrictions, but I go when possible. Suppose that there are 18,000 who turn up every week, 5,000 who go 75% of the time and another 6,000 who go 50% of the time, that would give us an average gate of 24,750 (which is actually roughly our average gate). Does it not follow that all those people who get to about half the games would want to be there for a celebratory game such as this, therefore boosting the crowd up to 30,000? After all, attending half the home matches in a season represents a pretty good record, and you can hardly question the loyalty of those who attend with such regularity. It's not like exactly the same 24,000 turn up every week and then 6,000 stragglers turn up for the big games is it? So the 'fans' will be out in force. All those who have been attending all season long. It's just that this time, they'll all be there at once, plus admittedly one or two hangers on. My tuppence - 2-2 draw, Fryatt and Adams to score for City.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 April 2010 Posted 27 April 2010 A dead rubber for both teams with us in the play-offs and Middlesbrough definitely out. I'll bet Leroy Lita wishes he'd plumped for us now. Still, I can see Pearson putting out a fairly strong squad for this one to keep the momentum going into the play-offs and adding to the brimming confidence of the squad. Middlesbrough are no mugs but have precisely nothing to play for and will have one eye on the summer break and next season's likely promotion push. My prediction is a 2-0 win for City with goals from Spearing and a returning Fryatt in the second half.
leicesterseddon Posted 27 April 2010 Posted 27 April 2010 Would be crazy to rest players now. We've not exactly had to contend with long League or FA cup runs this season, the players seem to have good levels of fitness still. Need to keep the momentum.

I could'nt agree more , i'm a season ticket holder and have been every home game but one this season and last , and i thought it showed a bit of a lack of class to abuse your own fans like that, i hope we don't get any of that on sunday and that there's 30,000 city fans in full voice ready to cheer their team on in to the play offs !! Up the city .
Simo86 Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 2-0 win. King to score the 1st and Fryatt to score in the 2nd half!!
dpjfox Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 i dont think NP will rest many, expecting 2-0 win Gally Fryatt and hopefully no injuries, bonus if Cardiffs Burke got injured (but he will be up against Bruno this time, no probs)
MC Prussian Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 Hopefully, whatever squad Pearson fields for Sunday will go for it, make for an entertaining day out. A big score would certainly end the regular season on a particular high, also given the fact that it's looking like a sell-out. 32'000+ supporters in a packed Walkers Stadium - I'm going to miss it, but it can only be as good as Leeds last season. Scoreline? Hmm... 3-0 Leicester.
Flynny Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 Bore draw I reckon. I think I'm saving my optimism for the playoffs.

The fans i target the abuse at are the few thousand who have the TIME and the MONEY to go to the games, but don't because we're 'shit' and then turn up and celebrate with the rest of us at the end. And there will be a few thousand of those fans attending Sunday, and i rekon some who didn't see us in League One or this season will also be showing their faces.
????? Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 i hope chris powell will make an apperance considering it will be his last proffesionall league game.
The Blur Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 1-1 draw for me Fryatt with a pentaly in the second half to equalise after McDonald opener in the first half Bit of a dilemmia for Pearson- should he rest his players or not? I guess I would rest a few such as Gally and Waggy, introduce them in the second half and I would replace the rested players with players such as Kermo and Adams to see whether they are in the form for the play offs. King got to stay on, he is in the form of his life!

I am a season ticket holder been going since 1975 , I have already got people asking me ' if we get to wembley can you get me a ticket' . and they havent even been to a game in the last two seasons I even told one bloke at work to do an hours overtime a week and that will pay for a season ticket ., I know if i had the choice of not going or being able to afford a season ticket bydoing only one hour o/t a week then it would be a no brainer . one hour a week for a season following the city is no sacrifice at all

Did you read any of what I actually wrote? It's totally impossible to prove, of course, but I'd be willing to bet that less than 1,000 of the people there on Sunday will be going to their first or second game of the season. And so what if they haven't been turning up? It's all more support for the team and more money on the gate on Sunday. Would you rather we played in front of the 18,000 hard core in the home leg of the play-off semis or a packed house?
Ozwin Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 maddog's feeling a bit of superiority complex today, just leave him to it.
ScouseFox Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 Reckon there'll be quite a few goals, so maybe 3-2 City. Fancy Waghorn to get a goal, with King & Vaughan getting the others. Agree about Powell, hope he gets some pitch time, he's a great guy.
UrbanFox Posted 30 April 2010 Posted 30 April 2010 3-1 City im going for, a penalty in front of the kop for Chris Powell for the 3rd goal. a Great atmosphere and lots of beer to be drunk as no work the following day Lets just enjoy Sunday as a stress free game. because lets face the next 2 weeks are going to be one hell of an emotional rollercoaster
