Hitesh Posted 4 May 2010 Posted 4 May 2010 Breaking news on BBC now... Chris Coleman sacked by Coventry City Coventry City have sacked manager Chris Coleman after finishing 19th in the Championship following Sunday's 4-0 home defeat by Watford. The former Fulham boss took over in February 2008 and led them to survival that season and then 17th last term. Sky Blues chairman Ray Ranson told the club website: "The board would like to place on record their thanks for his efforts over two and a half years. "We will not be rushed into finding a successor," he added. Hasn't really done much since his appointment and can't say I'm surprised.
Guest Bilo Posted 4 May 2010 Posted 4 May 2010 No major surprise. When your fans are reduced to celebrating a draw at your local rivals as though they've just won the Champions League, you know they're starved of success. Always thought he was a decent manager when he was at Fulham, it just seems as though he had nothing to work with at the Ricoh,
Corky Posted 4 May 2010 Posted 4 May 2010 Not surprised, was fortunate to stay up when we went down, did nothing last season and even though they had a good run after Christmas, still ended up in a lower position.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 4 May 2010 Posted 4 May 2010 Hmmm . Not sure what I think of this decision. Cov have a few good individuals, but lack of ambition and finances.
Simi Posted 4 May 2010 Posted 4 May 2010 I shall now look forward to the next piece of managerial mediocrity they'll bring in.
Joe. Posted 4 May 2010 Posted 4 May 2010 I didn't actually realise how badly they were doing until the Wedesnday Palace game when they showed up on the relegation live table update. Very amusing.
Super_horns Posted 4 May 2010 Posted 4 May 2010 So that's the 3rd manager gone after losing to us! Well we're not that bad to be defeated by...mind you 4-0 at home is pretty poor. Always had an end of season slump under him.
Matt Posted 4 May 2010 Posted 4 May 2010 Haha tbh i'm am surprised he's gone, I'd have thought he'd have gone before now - meaning in previous seasons, they're normally in a relegation battle and this season have had a 'decent' in their terms of being mid-table - the best a nothing club like them can expect.
Daggers Posted 4 May 2010 Posted 4 May 2010 He's been trying to do a job with one hand tied behind his back - the Cov board want miracles and will only pay out peanuts. Shit to be them.
dandannieldanok Posted 6 May 2010 Posted 6 May 2010 He's been trying to do a job with one hand tied behind his back - the Cov board want miracles and will only pay out peanuts. Shit to be them. Correct, not sure what Ranson and the fans really expect when the manager has nothing to spend and is left scrabbling around in the lower leagues to find players. Dreadful club.
Guest Posted 6 May 2010 Posted 6 May 2010 I didn't actually realise how badly they were doing until the Wedesnday Palace game when they showed up on the relegation live table update. Very amusing. I did the same thing. Knew they were hovering around top half, then I didn't pay attention for a few weeks and all of a sudden they were below Derby!
jonthefox Posted 6 May 2010 Posted 6 May 2010 Apparently cov are after some hungarian called boloni ............no, me neither.
Head Honcho Posted 6 May 2010 Posted 6 May 2010 He probably relieved to be out of the place. "This town, is coming like a ghost town"
The Doctor Posted 8 May 2010 Posted 8 May 2010 I'd take Clingan off them. if we stay down maybe. Don't think he'll cut it in the Premiership.
C-man Posted 8 May 2010 Posted 8 May 2010 Curbishley about to be appointed apparently. Don't know how they've managed that...
sw_fox Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 Don't know how they've managed that... I do, Curbishley seems to have been linked to every vacant managerial job for the last couple of months. Im surprised he hasn't managed to get himself a team by now!
