I reakon that ian hume would have loved to have been at leicester this season instead of boring barnsley :scarf:

who's ian hume? is he related to iain hume?

Completely agree Humey was unlucky in that he played in a very poor City team. You know what, I don't think even he would have made our starting eleven.

On the other hand, by playing regularly and being made to look better than he is, he was lucky to get a transfer that he perhaps wouldn't otherwise have got. Tried far too many fancy flicks that didn't come off, instead of getting the basics right.

how on earth can anyone abuse humey he was one of the greatest players to play for city! jus because he was playing wit crappy players it made him look bad!:whistle::scarf:

huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuume!!!

Er no, really he wasn't. Lineker, Smith (Alan), Lennon, Muzzy, Elliott, Walsh, Worthington, Keith Weller - to name but a few - Yes. Iain Hume - good but not one of the greatest.

Some people seem to have pretty short memories.

Ok so maybe Hume wouldn't be starting week in week out with the side that we have now but when he was here he always gave his best, never stopped trying and scored some important goals as well.

For people to say he was crap is well wide of the mark in my opinion. He managed a decent return of goals in the championship each year he was with us in a poor team. In the same period Fryatt ended three seasons with 6,4 and 3 goals and people were writing him off. Look at what he has done since! Whose to say that Hume wouldn't also have flourished in the set up we have now.

Personally i'll always remember Humey as a good player in his time down here and give him a good reception when he comes back!

So did Akinbiyi...

Beautiful...

The fact that we idolised a player who had such average ability, in spite of his unquestionable commitment, showed how shit we actually were. No way would Hume have been picked over Fryatt, Waghorn or Gallagher this season. Not in a million years.

His efforts were great but he would not have thrived here this season.

i never got why the fans adored hume, at the end of the day MDV was a more prolific goal scorer for us and he got slated which is why i find it hard to understand the support yann has got all season. mark de vries was hated and he actually scored

Leicester may have went down but Barnsley was hardly a "forward" move. Then he got his skull caved in by a thug and did well to get back playing but looks some way off the form of his Leicester days.

Forget Hume.

He left when the club got relegated to avoid League 1 probably, so who's fault is it that he didn't make the play offs with Leicester? I dislike all those players that left when the club were relegated.

In fact, only Stearman got the best move. And even now he doesn't get played often.

Not one of those players would get in our team now though. McAuley isn't as good as Hobbs, Stearman isn't as good as Morrison, and Hume isn't as good as Gallagher.

Liked them all when they were here, ecspecially Hume, but don't care now. Don't rate them and dislike them.

Leave him at 'boring' Barnsley because he left us in League 1.

I'm pretty sure he was forced to leave, but whatever.

Apparently he was, but not according to Nigel Pearson on the season review. And thats who I'm going with.

He was sold before Pearson arrived though wasn't he?

He probably was crap, I liked him though because he scored some memorable goals and always gave his all when others seemed to do differently.

But we have better players now and have moved on from the mediocre days of a few years ago.

I think they were all (McAuley, Stearman, Hume) sold within Pearsons first week.

On the DVD Nigel Pearson states:

" The players that didn't want to play for the club anymore made it clear to me and then they were all sold within my first week here".

So, I go on the basis that those three players in particuar made it clear to Pearson they wanted to leave. Thats why I don't like them because the club had gone down to League 1 for the first time ever. Not very loyal that, ecspecially when you don't even take a step forward by joining Barnsley, who, lets face it, could have gone down this year if it wasn't for Mark Robins'.

Only Stearman has claimed a good move because both Barnsley and Ipswich are poor sides and have had poor season's. Same applies to Chambers, although Doncaster finished in the top half this season.

Thats why I don't like those particular players. Thats why I boo them.

Better off without them anyway. No point in trying to keep a player at the club when he wants to leave.

Chambers was a different matter mate. His contract said that if we were relegated, he would be released on a free or something like that.

good player for us. Some thought he was great so those that didn't decided they'd compensate by saying he was crap, which he clearly wasn't/isnt.

Harsh short memories/sour grapes going on here. Scored around 15 a season with zero service, he's hardly crap. Some of the reason he was chasing all the time was due to the fact that he was basically left on his own by the midfield. He'd not have got in the team ahead of Fryatt or Waghorn but he'd get in after them. He was also a decent target man despite being half a foot fucking shorter than most defenders as well.

He's not a world beater but a bit of respect for a bright spark in some shit seasons would be nice. Without him we'd have been relegated seasons ago, before Mandy bought the club and perhaps sending us over the edge financially.

These 15 goals a season that he rattled in, when was that exactly? Are you talking about 2004/5 when he got 15 for Tranmere?

He did manage 14 once from a mere 50 games for us.

His positional play was shocking, he did score some spectacular goals but they merely served to mask his other shortcomings. He was essentially Joey Gudjohnson up front.

he got into double figures for us in every season he played for us. Consider the state we were in during those seasons and you'll find that, although he isn't a quality player, he's by no means shit (not good enough for us considering the talent we have now though).

Every season bar the first.

33 goals in 136 appearances (inc sub).

In terms of what we paid £750k he wasn't terrific value, but if you take into consideration that we sold him on for 1.2m then it was a reasonable bit of business (ignoring the obvious fact that we got relegated and that his wages over 3 years would have pushed the actual fee well beyond what we recouped).

Ahh right, ok.

Relegated, said he was staying, didnt.

No thanks - not my sort of player

My comments, but summed up into 13 words. Totally agree.

Fu ck Iain Hume. Can't stand him or the pathetic love-fest he is STILL receiving from our fans. The game away at Barnsley last season has to rank as one of the most depressingly embarrassing experiences of my entire life. Iain Hume, a Barnsley player playing AGAINST our club, getting more encouragement and cheers than our own players. Not only that, the move resulting in the corner being won for Barnsley's goal and the taking of the corner was given rapturous renditions of "HUUUUUUUUUUUUUME" from our own fans. Disgrace.

I'm glad we've no longer got him, and I'll be over the bastard moon when he ****s off out of the English leagues altogether so I never have to witness such moronic stupidity ever again.

Hume was part of an era Leicester fans would rather forget. So what if he was the only player who looked as though he was arsed at time in our relegation season? We're still better off now in terms of the strikers we have.
