Matt Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Willhill.com - Fabio Capello to be gone by midnight 27/06/2010 - Yes: 7/4. So should he go? I don't think he should, Yes he's stubborn, I have to question certain selections on formations and question why he didn't change thing but personally No he shouldn't go, No matter what manager England will not win the world cup under the current players and I fear even more for the future, I think we should keep him/he should stay and go down the long road of actually sticking with a manager for a while. Do I think he'll go? Yes, I do, unfortunatly. On the other hand, Fabio for Leicester?
Edmund Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Didn't he sign a multi million pound contract renewal only this year? It's inevitable he'll go but once again it'll cost us big time aka Sven. As someone mentioned earlier, why not just give contracts out every two years which covers qualifying and the tournament and then reassess the situation after the tournament is over.

Salieri Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Fuck Fabio, yes the players should share an equal amount of blame but we've had an atrocious tournament and the buck has to stop with him. Give the job back to an Englishman. We'll still probably fail but at least we'll be able to understand him when he gives his post match excuses.

He should resign as he has failed to reach the target of the last 4 set by the FA.

The F.A prove yet again what a bunch of clueless cvnts they really are. Did they learn from the Sven debacle? No.

dandannieldanok Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Fabio should resign, he's been a massive waste of money. Basic selection issues he got fundamentally wrong. Of course the players were a monumental let-down but I'm afraid last 16, and only just getting their by the skin of their teeth, is woefully short of where we should have been.
Matt Posted 27 June 2010 Author Posted 27 June 2010 Sky Sport News - Breaking News: Fabio Capello says he will not resign as England manager. Fair play too, 1) Because the F.A will have to pay his shitloads to get rid of him - I wouldn't resign if there was a chance of getting the stupid amount of money he signed a contract for and 2) No matter what manager England will not do anything, simple.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Well to be honest, we do have the players... and we should have done a LOT better against an average German side today. The problem came with the terrible tactics, some players not even coming close to playing as they normally do for their clubs and some sheer bad luck. Fabio will probably stay simply cause he can and were the FA to fire him, he'd get a shit load of money... if he were to go though, Hodgson for England manager... or Redknapp... either would be brilliant choices, very good man managers and would sure as hell not tolerate the SHITE that we just witnessed out there today.
lildave3 Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 He was the best manager in the world in Qualifying, England's saviour, didn't matter that he was foreign. Now we're out: 'England manager should be English', 'we lost because the manager speaks poor English' It's a load of nonsense.
maddog Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Other than the quality goal after 4 minutes against the USA, the next 185 minutes of football was a shocking Green error, and that horrible Algeria game with no more goals. Then play average at best and scrape a 1-0 win against the smallest nation in the tourney, Slovenia. Then destroyed against Germany, who despite thrashing the Aussies lost to Serbia in their group. We all had a got at Sven for only getting us to the Quarters and losing out on penos and to Brazil, but maybe that was a decent achievment and he deserved a lot more credit. A shambolic tournament, Capello played the wrong tactics, Walcott should have been in the squad for his pace alone, Johnson should have been ahead of Carrick for his spark as Carrick didn't play. But Capello probably wouldn't have played them either. I want the FA to come out and say right away we definitely won't sack Capello he will be in charge for the qualifiers and the Euros OR him gone straight away and Harry/Hodgson in.

Yes we did well in qualifying, and we all had high hopes of a decent tournament. The fact is though, we underperformed massively and in football it's the manager who must carry the can, always.

Agree it feels knee jerk, however its the managers job to motivate the players he puts out. I just cant see the England team coming back from this unless a new manager is put in place. I place the blame mainly on the players for us coming out of the WC however I felt Capello didnt help things with a predictable system and some odd decisions. I do feel a English manager, or someone with fluent english and a deep knowledge of the prem league would be better suited.
Donut Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 If a manager who has won at least one league title with every club he has been at AND a champions league, there arent many better qualified to do the job. He was the best thing since sliced fvcking bread in qualifying You only have the best players the nation has at your disposal, and to be honest, i dont see anyone doing any better.
Webbo Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Who are we going to get who's better? Capello has a tremendous record but he has to carry the can for our pisspoor performance. In short I don't know what the answer is.
Benji Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 The FA clearly have money to burn if they gave him a contract before the world cup. In that case, they should offer Harry Redknapp an absolutely irrefusable amount of money to sort this team out. Even if it means doing the spurs job first and foremost until the run up to the euros. The man breeds success and if we failed under him, I would happily admit we just have a cack team. He's about the only man i'd have faith in.

I keep hearing the words average german side, the commentary team going on about how none of these players would get in the England squad blah blah blah but man for man they were all far better than us today, unbeaten in qualification for the world cup, scored more goals in one game twice than we managed in the entire tournament,. are technically far superior to England have scored 9 goals in 4matches, have 3 players who have scored 2goal each so far, don't seem that average to me. And this is where the problem lies we are so ignorant to other nations and believe that the majority of our players are actually better than they really are. At the end of the day doesn't really matter what coach you have in place no matter how hard you try you simply can't polish a turd, we simply are not as good as we think we are

Guest Mee-9 Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 The best bet would be to offer a manager the job part-time For example Harry Redknapp, So he's Spurs and England manager.
