kimsalabim Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 Milan's got to sell up and get back to America before the taxman comes knocking. This can only get worse and this is real bad news to me. I don't want owners in charge of my club who have never seen a football before. I would rather sit in the championship for the next 50 years than buy ourselves to the top of the english game and having to sit next to plastic batty boys week in week out. Never a truer word said.
cambridgefox Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 Never a truer word said. I agree about the buying our way to the top.i live some miles from leicester, and Leicester support is very thin on the ground.i take my lad to games and they take the piss out of him at school for supporting Leicester.we may have the last laugh!but i would hate it if loads of kids started wearing the leicester kit here.after having many highs and lows of a un fashionable club.Dont get me wrong i would love to see us as a force, but in time, not overnight.my lad told one kid that the other boy thought the players were 6 inches tall,as they only saw there team on tv.not bad for a 7 year old! Actually lets do it straight away,i will police the streets and confiscate any rogue supporters tops!
gibbo Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 if we do get brought we can buy pratley and players like that even maybe waghorn we could even buy tht portuguese U21 who on loan (Miguel Vitor) so could be good but good be bad who knows
STUHILL Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 I understand peoples views but everyone is being so negative. I don't want to buy our way to the Prem but is there any other way these days?? You might say Blackpool but how long will they stay there. There is obviously a high risk involved in any takeover, but I will welcome one if it means they will give us immediate funds to spend and so we can sign players of real quality. Transfer windows would be so exciting being linked with 3million pound players etc. We could also be a real force if we got promoted, not become a yo yo club. Unfortunately MONEY makes the world go round and barring minor miracles, it is the only way we will get to the Prem and stay there! The key man in all of this is Manderic. I know people are divided, and I have mixed feelings about him, especially recently but if he truly means the things he says, i.e he will only sell to someone who would benefit the club - AND hopefully he has learnt his mistake from Pompey, then surely he will only sell if the takeover, on paper at least, looks safe! The smartest thing to do is for him to stay on in some capacity or even not completely sell and just have them invest initially with a view to a takeover bid next season. I for one am all for a take over though. I don't fully trust Milan, but I also don't think he would put the club at risk......hopefully!!! Bring on the millions I say!!!! :-)
akwahoo Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 Given the recent happenings at Portsmouth and Notts County I would rather catch crabs from Jo Brand than have a bunch of dodgy kitchen sinks piggy backing the club for their own gain. Brilliant example on the Notts reference.

Wymsey Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 Is this definitely true an Asian consortium is going to take the club over or is it again wonderful speculation?
davieG Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 What happens when they leave and want the money back? Exactly it's not like fans who make a life time commitment, that's the reason we're up for sale now because like the next lot and the ones after them Mandaric is a transient owner purely in it for what he can make from it. Each successive buyer will want more than they put in, where does it end, judging from the experience of medium sized clubs, which is what we are administration. This takeover lark by unknown money makers doesn't work for clubs of our size.
bluebeau Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 I don't want to pour cold water on this thing guys, but just a word of caution. Would you expect to see billionaires in a pawn shop? Well the next best thing is, I was in the queue at the checkout behind Milan & a couple of Asian/Oriental gentlemen...........in POUNDLAND!!! Not a good sign? Eccentric multi-millionaire

Tilley Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 Whether this Asian link is true or not, I think we all know that investment or a buy out is only round the corner. As others have said, hopefully it is more of a Lerner type owner.

You say this but Portsmouth find themselves at a level which is their's and with a decent enough squad to finish top half. They'd have been Europe if it wasn't for their admin folk. Notts County have gone up a division with their best squad in years and are currently signing players which see them top half. There are not the greatest of examples because in the short-term they have kind of 'achieved' under their situations but normally in the long term, the clubs who've been in admin begin to suffer.

Fox You Forest Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 When all is said and done all we can do is cross our fingers that he's sold/selling to some decent folk who know what they're doing, obviously that's if their is even anything in the story.
Wymsey Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 Guessing the Polish guy not planning a takeover then. Less building construction in Leicester then. Yippee!!!!
Phlashman Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 We have to wait and see more details about this, we can't go making any conclusions until we know a) if it's for real b) who they are c) how stupid rich they actually are. For every Abramovich, Lerner or Man City Dude, there's a Icelander, Exiled Thai Premier and Russian/Arab on the dodge. Hopefully if they are Asian and our large Asian population is really a reason for them being interested then that could be a good sign. One word of advice to them, if they really want to please the fans on arrival, they should put a few million Sunderland's way for Waghorn.

Wymsey Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 Fell they could be the potential investors than someone trying to take over. Milan in my opinion probably wants to stay 'until we reach the Premier League'.
