Asian Consortium To Buy Out City

I've said all I can say.

Guesswork, but I'd say Bert's probably answered that one...

Don't think a group of foreigners would be too interested in just dipping into a club who are losing money.

Fair enough chaps.

Exciting times ahead. This may or may not be a good thing.

Oh I feel all excited, I love my club! Even if this isn't going to happen, they've kept the dull season pretty emphatic haven't they.

From the Guardian:

Milan Mandaric is in talks with a consortium that is expected to lead to him selling a significant part of his stake in Leicester City by the middle of next week.

The former Portsmouth owner, who has been eager to attract fresh investment to the Championship club, is close to agreeing a deal with a group of businessmen that would see him work in partnership with them initially before ultimately relinquishing control and standing down from his position as chairman.

How quick that process might happen is unclear at the moment but Mandaric, who is 71, is known to be keen to reduce his commitment to the club to free up more time.

The Serbian-American, who took control at Leicester three years ago, is expected to retain a 51% stake in the short term that would allow him to continue as chairman ahead of the new season. Leicester are set to make an announcement over the next couple of days to clarify Mandaric's position.

Milan Mandaric is on the verge of selling Leicester - after agreeing a £26m takeover with a group of mystery Thailand businessmen.

Mandaric was last night inching closer to a buy-out that will see the Foxes receive a substantial financial injection.

The 71-year-old has been locked in secret talks for the last three weeks - assisted by super agent Pini Zahavi - and a deal for an initial investment of 49 per cent should be completed shortly with a full takeover to come later.

The consortium have agreed to pump in major funds for new boss Paulo Sousa in a bid to take the club back to the Premier League.

Mandaric will eventually hand over full control to the consortium.

Sousa’s job is 100% safe as it is understood the new owners played a major part in the selection process after Nigel Pearson’s departure.

Important forum lesson learned in the past couple of weeks: If a story is laughed at initially, it's almost certainly true.

Don't think the Stewards will be too impressed when I crack one off over that, and spaff all in the west standers flasks.

Holding judgement on this for now, we'll see what happens.

Too many dodgy foreign owners have wormed their way into the English game over the last few years to leave me sceptical about this, but I like the initial sound of what they're doing. Keeping Mandaric involved is good for now.

I'm not going to lie and say I'm not slightly excited though. We've not had money for a long time now, it'd be brilliant to see some quality come to our club this summer.

This could be epic guys. I'd love just a nice stable backing, decent money to spend on players. We already have a new stadium so at least money doesn't have to be put into that, just the debt on it. I am well excited at any prospect of money coming into Leicester again.

Had a think about this over night. It's exciting that we have a cash injection but I think it could go sour somehow. I've always felt at ease with Mandy, a no risk bloke that kept us just cruising through.But... It would be amazing to get bumped back up to the prem, considering we did so well last year. Just got to see what happens really!

Ian Stringer was just talking about this on radio leicester. Spoke to a representative of MM and there was no denial. Said it was a partnership not a full takeover. Also that there would be a statement from the club in the coming days but reports he has heard indicate it could be imminent. He also said he knows who the business men are but could release that information currently.
