davieG Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 From OS City boss Paulo Sousa believes he can take the club back to the top flight in two years "maximum". His building process is just in its early stages but he is adamant the target can be reached and he said: "This is a club with only one direction. Sometimes it takes a little time but I can guarantee to everyone that, in two years' time maximum, we will be in the Premiership. We want to fight this season right away of course but in a maximum of two years we will be there." Last season's play-off disappointment has been replaced by a very positive mood in the camp and Sousa said: "It is always difficult after what happened. Of course, with a new manager, new ideas, different styles, it can cost us a little time but I think everyone is very enthusiastic, not just the players but the staff and the fans because they want the club to be in the Premier League where they belong." Sousa has only made one addition to squad since taking over, but believes he has plenty of quality in the squad he inherited from former boss Nigel Pearson. "We have a good quality and a good standard. We have some departments we want to improve and something which is going to happen in the next weeks. We have a long way to go, we know the Championship is very tough for everyone. This season it will be more balanced than the last season. For that we need to be prepared the best we can and to finish better than last season. "It is a long way to go, a lot of teams in the division and we can see a lot of clubs very close together from the beginning to the end. You lose two games you are down, win two and you are up and the balancer for a club like us needs to be very high with a great standard, to start well and keep that standard going to the end."
lavrentis Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 That's a bit bold to say we'll be there in 2 years but fair play if he's confident.
DanTheFox07 Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 Without significant investment I doubt well make premier within 2 years!
Babylon Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 "Guarantee" What's he going to do, refund all our ticket costs.
davieG Posted 22 July 2010 Author Posted 22 July 2010 So Mandaric's 3 turns into 5, considering he said he would have failed if we didn't do it in 3 years this is surely makes it an epic fail.

SMX11 Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 PS is gonna be on RL football forum on the monday before the start of the season. Could be very interesting, I just hope that idiots that believe Max Gradel isn't getting a fair crack of the whip don't call up

Guest Bilo Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 Nice to hear some confidence, it rarely hurts to have some self-belief. Sousa is really impressing me, albeit at an early stage, with the vibes that seem to be coming from the camp.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 For the avoidance of confusion, Mr Sousa's use of the word 'guarantee' is merely a figure of speech used to illustrate his confidence about the Glorious Foxes' prospects in the coming seasons. He is not offering a legal guarantee and should the chain of events hoped for not come to pass and promotion to the top tier not be achieved within the timescale described neither Mr Sousa or any club representative can be held accountable. Sorry to point out the obvious, super dudes, but I'm just pre-empting the vacuous twats who, if we don't get promoted, will inevitably shout 'BUT HE GUARANTEED IT DIDN'EE?', probably on the Radio Leicester phone in
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 2 years max is a optimistic, though achievable.
Legend_in_blue Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 Two years is a sensible comment to make. Had we been more adventurous under NP, we might have been there already. This "new brand of football" though. This worries me. If it doesn't show immediate change, people will become impatient. And quick.
Matt Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 Great to hear confidence, I just fear he's potentially put nails in his own coffin already though. If we are mid-table, or probably even just outside the playoffs in the coming season fans will be on his back, these comments and statements will soon come and bite him on his arse should we struggle, even after 5 or so games.
Callabinho Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 Let’s get through the opening fixtures first; we have a vey tough first game! If we get a good result against Palace, lets say a 3-0 win then I will be far more optimistic. But for now let’s just wait and see.
FoxyPV Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 If he had have said that we'd be in the PL next year for definite then there would have been cause for concern. Cautious confidence I can live with.
carterfox90 Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 So Mandaric's 3 turns into 5, considering he said he would have failed if we didn't do it in 3 years this is surely makes it an epic fail. ditto
poopbutt Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 wouldn't it be 3 into 4. were going into year three now aren't we?
Head Honcho Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 Bit ambitious when you consider he spent less than that at his last two clubs combined!
SMX11 Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 He's actually going to be on it and responding directly to calls?.........or just on it in the form of some pre-recorded interview? direct answers from callers.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 direct answers from callers. Who's asking the questions here?
The Doctor Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 wouldn't it be 3 into 4. were going into year three now aren't we? no. we've just completed year 3 (07/08, 08/09, 09/10)
Simi Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 This sounds so much better than a 3 year plan!! I am well on board!
m00nie Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 2 year plan dont sound too bad.. as long as half way threw we dont sack the manager, sell the players, start again... if things go ok and given the time could be a good plan.. get in new owner, new players to build on what we got, new style of playing.. maybe disrupt this season a bit whilst it all beds into place. (even if results in not as high finish as this year) but then build on it and hammer hte league next season..
