haraven Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 Edit: Saw Timh10101 post about Rais M'Bolhi from Algeria is in the Hammers sight as well too late...
milan_foxes Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 Breaking News: Marton Fulop has been told by Steve Bruce that he can leave but Ipswich are in the frame to sign him.
Wymsey Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 Daily mirror said Algeria keeper is invited to train with west ham on pre-season. That'll be very true
lcfc"weasel" Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 Plese don't let this be true, Weale's a fantastic keeper and kept us in countless games last year. He made one big mistake throughout the whole of the season.
hackneyfox Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 Really? Others have him down as starting to flap before the end of the seaon
OutFoxing-Cov-Since1884 Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 IMHO (and my friends and family who follow Leicester too) we are all big fans of Chris, but Walker, despite him acting like a woman with his hair in the 18 yard box, was better...

OutFoxing-Cov-Since1884 Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 No i'm not saying we sign him back (god no), i'm just making the point to people who say he's been our best keeper for ages...we said that about Fulop didn't we. I'm just trying to point out that if we were to lose him and got money for him, maybe it would enable us to go out and find someone who is of a similar ability or indeed who has been released elsewhere. Maybe even a cheeky bid for someone like Brad Jones?

We sell Weale and find ourselves back in the same boat again hoping we find someone decent? No thanks

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 wouldn't he be suspended for the first couple of games this season (straight red v us on final day of last season)? He will, though I have never rated him so wouldnt want him anyway.
Jonezy Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 Hands off our Weale The amount of certain goals he saved last season was extraordinary. Big part of our stubborn defense and should only be for sale for stupid money.
Jimmy Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 Chris is easily the best keeper we had since Walker, I don't count keepers we didn't own, and as someone mentioned he is suspect from crosses, which is his main weakness (but if he wasn't he would probably be a prem keeper already and not here) however if they offered £2-3m we'd be foolish not to consider it, Conrad is not as bad as most on here make out, plus we could probably sign someone else for a lot less leaving money to strengthen other areas, its how a club like us HAS to operate unless we get lucky and a new Peter Shilton rocks up in the academy. That said I would be sad to see him go and personally think at his age, after all the injuries he's had and spending so long as a no 2 at Bristol City, 1st team football, with a chance of promotion might be more important to him, especially when he could wait out his contract (is it 1 or 2 years left?) and still move to a lower prem side at that point

I can't see anyone wanting to pay that, if he was to go I'd think it would be closer to £1M if we were lucky. Remember the £3-4M some people seemed to think the likes of Mattock and Stearman were worth and what they actually went for.
Wymsey Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 H1210 - it was me sorry. But on his day i do think he is not a cheap buy

I dont really know why West Ham would go after Weale, you can usually always sign a back up keeper for next to nothing, so why pay £1 million for Weale?

h1210 Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 look at the valuation clubs in the Prem have offered for Lonegan, Weale is every bit as good I agree that they're both about the same (Lonegan perhaps slightly better) but what a club values a player at and what their market value is and the price they actually go for are often miles apart. It's clear that Preston don't want to see him leave so they put a high valuation up to put off potential bidders and if anyone is stupid enough to match it then they're quids in.

h1210 Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 I'm talking about what the clubs are offering As far as I knew, West Brom and Blackpool had both offered just over £1M
Jimmy Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 As far as I knew, West Brom and Blackpool had both offered just over £1M they were also set to offer around £2m until Fergie Jr said he wanted £20m
andy_croydz Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 To be honest I don't have a problem with Logan in goal if we sell Weale. Weale is a top keeper and he deserves to be playing at the highest level, I think Logan is good aswell, not as good as Weale but he can do a job for us.
andy_croydz Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 Danny Coyne anyone? He might be old now but he's a top keeper, i've always rated him. Is he still at Boro?
