Adster Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 Bednar was rubbished big time by W Brom fans, very few seem to rate him My girlfriend is a West Brom fan and she absolutely loves Bednar, as well as rating him.
mountsorrel fox Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 My dad is really good mates with tom from kasabian and he said that one of his sources within the club has told him that city are trying to get him to sign for us.

Adster Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 Hope she's right Can you love without rating someone? I know a few other people that love players, whilst also thinking there not so good at football. Matt Oakley for example

Guest BlueBrett Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 he was villa's best player for 45minutes last night how much do people think he would cost?
lcfcsnow Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 he was villa's best player for 45minutes last night Maybe, but he's injury prone and hasn't learnt to use his strength properly since we sold him 10 years ago. He's 33 in January, we'll end up giving him a 3/4 year contract to persuade him to come on big money. The young raw Heskey helped us to promotion but what he's become won't. I don't think he'll offer us much more than Bednar apart from being someone the fans like, similar to Howard then... I'm not a fan of the idea as you can tell, Sven can do better and doesn't need to please the fans with a signing like this.

broughtonblue Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Don't we badly need a goalscorer? Heskey?
Father Ted Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Anybody who is saying that Heskey wouldn't help to get us back up is stupid. Since his younger days, he may have lost that touch of pace but he is so much more experienced and would make Steve Howard look silly. Also, he can play centre-back!!
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Heskey as a targetman is vital for providing chances for others. You only have to see what he does for England.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Are we getting nearer to this happening??? Heskey says show the cash
brookfox Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Heskey as a targetman is vital for providing chances for others. You only have to see what he does for England. Making chances for others is one thing but in our current formation we need our 1 up front to score around 15+ goals for us to get promoted I reckon. In the last 6 seasons Heskey has scored 5, 8, 4, 3, 2 and 5 goals. I like the guy but I don't want us to sign him for this reason.

Daggers Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Strikers don't have to score goals, teams do. Guns don't kill people...
brookfox Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 Strikers don't have to score goals, teams do. Yes but who else in the team is going to contribute enough goals to get us promoted if you've got Heskey up top not really scoring. Vassell and Gally aren't prolific, Abe and Wellens aren't goal getters, the centre backs don't score as we're bad at corners. Puts a lot of pressure on King. If the big guy up front could contribute 15+ it'd make us a much more dangerous team.

Alpha Gifts & Awards Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 Why assume Heskey can't score loads of goals at this level? Wasn't he our targetman, the penultimate time we went up? Anyway all speculation until he comes and plays!! Ciao
brookfox Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 I think the point he was making was that players like Vassell would be more prolific alongside Heskey I get that, but prolific for Vassell might be 12 goals in a season, his best ever league tally in 2001/02. We need one of our front 2 or 3 (depending how we play) to get 20+ goals and none of Vassell, Dyer, Waghorn, Gally are that person whether they play alongside Heskey or not.
