marbelladave Posted 23 August 2010 Posted 23 August 2010 If we sign Heskey I will do a little wee in my pants. I think I will just piss up against a wall, a kind of 'post-ironic comment' on what we would be doing with £2m+. I remain a big fan of Emile, supporting his selection for the World Cup against some pretty bitter citicism. However his time has gone, I feel he will come with too much baggage and cost too much to be remotely value for money. It would be a crowd pleaser sure enough, give everyone a lift in the short term but the weight of expectation would be massive, can't really see it working. If he did come I would love it if I was proved wrong but I can not see Sousa being remotely interested in bringing back a 'city legend', particularly one so closely associated with a certain MON!
stix Posted 23 August 2010 Posted 23 August 2010 According to todays daily star paulo sousa refused to deny reports of a move for emile heskey. I know its the star so take it with a pinch of salt but just thought id put it in considering it states the complete opposite to the mercury.
Mikey Posted 23 August 2010 Posted 23 August 2010 Your talking out your arse. When he played for us, he spent most of the time on the deck. Whenever he was through on goal, he'd hit the floor, try get a foul. He can't score for shit. Why should a player like Steve Howard, (Who has had a great end to last season, and a decent start to this season) be pushed out to make way for a signing, that will only be here to boast to other clubs. It's bullshit. Just because the guy is supposedly 'a legend' when in my eyes, he wasn't much kop here when he started out. A Leicester City legend for me, is the likes of Weller, Worthington, Banks, Lineker, Walsh, Shilton. Not Emile Heskey. Let the quick-fired ripping of my opinions commence. It's my opinion. Did you actually even see him at Leicester?

If he thinks the fans are getting on his and the players backs causing a dip in confidence given the poor start, then bringing back one of the fans idols so to speak would perhaps placate them for a bit and ease the fan pressure on the players. Which would help them relax and start to perform better.
CKB Posted 23 August 2010 Posted 23 August 2010 I personally would love to see Heskey back here, i've always liked it when players comeback and Heskey has a good 4 years left in him maybe more and would be a huge improvement over Howard... It's not gonna happen anyhow!

When he was through on goal he hit the floor? Yes, normally after putting the ball in the beck of the net. Defenders used to hate playing against Heskey for us, look at the way he scored against Arsenal. Against Spurs. Pure pace and power. He's not the player he was I grant you but to say he wasn't much cop for us when he was here is complete crap.
Dames Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 I still find it funny how people are going on about Heskey being past it. Actually going on like we are a top 10 premier league club pushing for a spot in Europe. Maybe if we were Money would probably be spent elsewhere but seeing as we are barely a top 10 championship club anymore and you must be a troll of the highest order if you don't believe a player who's done a decent job for a top 8 international side for the past 2 years would benefit our team. Stop reading the sun and stop going on like we are a 'massive club'.
markbsac Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 right ..look back at how many goals we scored from free kicks in the heskey era....MON told heskey to go down as much as possile arond the box area.....look at how many goals muzzy scored from free kicks..it was simple heskey was told to get free kicks for muzzy to take !
MikeyT Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 SSN website Aston Villa caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald has rejected talk linking Emile Heskey with a return to Leicester. Recent reports had suggested Leicester were keen on bringing Heskey, who started his career at the club, back to the Foxes. However, MacDonald insists there has been no contact from Leicester and that Heskey remains part of the plans at Villa Park. "I worked with Emile as a young boy at Leicester and I've got a lot of time for him," said MacDonald. "I've not had any talks with Leicester. "I live quite close to Leicester so I know quite a few of the people there and there has been nothing at all. Praise "I think Emile Heskey is a very, very good footballer. You don't play as often as he did for England if you are not a good player." MacDonald added: "In my opinion, he has been a top player for a long time. You don't play for Liverpool and win trophies if you are not a good player. "Aston Villa need as many good players as they can and then to develop some other ones as well."
Kierzz Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Im not sure if this has already been said but on SSN as well as saying a deal for DJ to blackpool is happening today, it also says leicester are in talks with villa over a heskey transfer I'm not sure if I believe it though

blue army 1988 Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 I am a massive fan of Heskey and even got his name on the back of my England shirt for the world cup. he would do an excellent job back here and I think the fans would love to see him in the blue and white. He would do the job that howard does but Heskey would have more class about him and alot more quality. How people can say they don't want him here (unless it's to preserve his status at the club from yesta years) and that he's a terrible player are beyond me.
Bert Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Im not sure if this has already been said but on SSN as well as saying a deal for DJ to blackpool is happening today, it also says leicester are in talks with villa over a heskey transfer I'm not sure if I believe it though I'm pretty sure it said that Villa deny having transfer talks with Leicester regarding the signing of Emile. Quite a possibility though....

sdb Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 I'm pretty sure it said that Villa deny having transfer talks with Leicester regarding the signing of Emile. Quite a possibility though.... Bertie? Don't tease now...!?
Brainy Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Hmmm... is that supposed to be a hint Bert? you need to get out of his arse.
shiv Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 I've heard (not sure about the reliability of the source so don't shoot me down if it's bullshit!) that Emile Heskey held initial informal talks with Leicester City last week
Thracian Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 It's idiotic to suggest that Heskey could be too past his best to do well with Leicester. Heskey has still got plenty of attributes - strength, control, passing ability and a love of the club. I certainly wouldn't want a team of old timers but Heskey's well capable of improving our team, and for some time to come. And his England pedigree makes him just the sort of big name Mandaric has been seeking for ages and which the club desperately needs to start building its credibility. It's just such a pity DJ sounds like he'll be moving in a different direction. Cos he might have been a major beneficiary.
Lester LXXIV Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Starting against Rapid Vienna tonight. Feck... That means he'll be cup tied, not sure I want him now!!

He is good enough for the England side and to play in the world cup but not to drop down a division into the championship just a couple of months later?
Karljohn Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Emile just missed an absolute sitter 4 yards out.
SeCrEt FoX Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Emile just missed an absolute sitter 4 yards out. You beat me to it, But to be fare it bounced and could only hit it to the ground at a slight angle.
