RedHux Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 For those with a passing interest in all things St Pauli There's currently something of a dispute between a large group of the fans who feel that various commercial developments at the club are in direct conflict with the ethos of the place. It's been bubbling under for a while but it seems to have taken a more serious turn. Brief article For those interested, there's much more in depth info from this here forum Obligatory petition Der Facebook Video... (the red jolly rodger is the symbol for this paticular protest, in case you were wondering)
Finnegan Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 I remember reading quite a while ago, as in a few years, that many Pauli fans were apprehensive about the club being promoted again because of the off-pitch ramifications of playing in contemporary, top-flight football. It did spring to mind when they went up, this doesn't surprise me at all.
RedHux Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 I think all Pauli fans realise a compromise needs to be drawn between revenue streams and the culture surrounding the club but some of the things going on at the minute are a step too far for a club with lefty leanings. The selling of a box to a strip club who have naked girls prancing about on the rare occasion of a Pauli goal and the selling of a drink called "Kalte Muschi" (cold pussy) whilst would be fun and games here it goes against everything St Pauli has become.
Finnegan Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Spearmint Rhino can feel free to evict Wymsey whenever they want.

StanSP Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Sticking with Turkish football, Bursaspor are signing Kenny Miller! I thought he was happy and doing fine at Rangers and would never have thought Turkey was the best place to go in your career
Finnegan Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Turks are brilliant. Never knew Alan Birchenal had a Turkish cousin.
StanSP Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 There's a Geordie commentator on GolTV watching Atletico vs Real Madrid. Comedic commentary! He gets so excited. More than Stringer sometimes!

CosbehFox Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Cheers, Just missed the goal, this commentator is amusing I've changed my mind, his bum licking of Real is getting annoying now. He does a lot of European football for US Tv. Very Americanised but his knowledge is generally excellent.
StanSP Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 Got the same commentators on for the Barca vs Santander match
Fosse Boy Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Pauli about to kick off away at the village. Win would lift them out of the relegation zone.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Never knew Alan Birchenal had a Turkish cousin. Ajlan Barackhamaz
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 *To add, Besiktas now have an absolutely ridiculous side. Quaresma, Guti, Nihat, Manuel Fernandes, Simao, Hugo Almeida, Mehmet Aurelio.... Some great players for that league. Need to get going now after a pretty miserable first half of the season, won 5-1 the other day, though.
RedHux Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 St Pauli Highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9-i_DSpQwY Takyi!!
Fosse Boy Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 That was an absolute hit. Bring on the derby next Sunday!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 Dortmund beat Wolfsburg 3-0 the other night. Barrios, Sahin and Hummels.
StanSP Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Hibs 1 up. First goal in about 11 hours I think!
Stadt Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Hibs 1 up. First goal in about 11 hours I think! They really are having a dire season but a win is much deserved.
The Doctor Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Hibs 1 up. First goal in about 11 hours I think! Hibs are shit though, waste of a SPL space. In more important scottish football news - Cowdenbeath may well survive their first season up in Div 1. In 7th, 5 points clear of bottom (dundee) with 3 games in hand, 4 points clear of 9th place stirling (though they've played as many as cowdenbeath) and a point + 2 games in hand over ross county in 8th.
