Alexikokopops Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Forest fans might disagree with you. Took him three years to get out of League One with large resources and was sacked with them bottom of the Championship. He might be more successful north of the border a la Levein but there's little from his record in England to make me think so. Pretty impressive when you consider he was only at the club for two and a half years.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Pretty impressive when you consider he was only at the club for two and a half years. Ah, They started with Megson didn't they? Still, you won't find many Forest fans who were overly enamoured by him.
The Doctor Posted 31 October 2010 Posted 31 October 2010 Referee cover up? Union chief Martin Cryans has denied that Scotland's head of referees was involved in an attempted cover-up over a penalty denied to Celtic.Assistant referee Steven Craven claimed in the Sunday Mail that Hugh Dallas had urged him to back referee Dougie McDonald's original version of events. McDonald later admitted exaggerating Craven's role in overturning the penalty against Dundee United. But referees' union boss Cryans says that Dallas demanded the truth be told. The controversy arose after McDonald blew for a penalty after goalkeeper Dusan Pernis challenged Celtic striker Gary Hooper during the match won by Celtic 2-1 at Tannadice on 17 October. McDonald then approached Craven, who has since resigned as a result of the controversy, before giving a drop ball inside the area. Incorrect refereeing and lieing. . Expect a DB11 rant about how the ref has been wrongly attacked there and an El Empty theory on this being fixed up between the head of the SFA, Referee's union and the lizard men plotting to overthrow the world government. Also like the way the 4th official has the specsavers logo on his kit
C-man Posted 31 October 2010 Posted 31 October 2010 Huge win for Dortmund at Mainz to leapfrog them to the top of the Bundesliga. Quick roundup: Bayern won Fri night; Cologne got a much needed 3 points at home to Hamburg; Leverkusen won away at Schalke; Pauli lost at home again to Eintracht and Hoffenheim got a bit home win today.
Mikey Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 Ronaldo scored another 2 at the weekend. The mans unstoppable.
Guest NGoloMode Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 Ronaldo scored another 2 at the weekend. The mans unstoppable. He's turned into a poacher. He's scored so many tap-ins this season.
C-man Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 Just seen the highlights of Mainz-BVB. Mario Goetze looks special.

Some rather wayward reffing in that game, combined with some hopelessly naive defending was Pauli's downfall. Same ref who gave this...so he's got form http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfzRleyPs5E
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 2 November 2010 Posted 2 November 2010 Chuffed Dortmund are doing well, one of my favourite teams apart from City. Some real talents in there, Mats Hummels is a huge player for them. Kagawa seems a cracking player, astonishing to believe he cost around the same as Moreno did for us. *And obviously I rim Mohammed Zidan.

Agreed with the Kagawa point though, he has been pretty special by all accounts. Can not wait to go see them play in Feb. EDIT: Wtf am I doing forgetting Patrick Owomoyela?! Lunacy on my part.

Agreed with the Kagawa point though, he has been pretty special by all accounts. Can not wait to go see them play in Feb. Sahin seems like he's finally beginning to fulfill the potential he's always had, still can't believe how young he is, seems to have been around forever. The spine of the team is incredibly strong. Perfect blend of experience and youth, almost every player is extremely talented. Klopp has done an absolutely superb job there after a period mainly consisting of bleakness post - Sammer. I've seen them mate, a fair while ago now, though, just over five years. Incredible contrast to when I can be arsed to go down the City. Beat Werder Bremen 1-0 and Rosicky scored, absolute mayhem. Haven't been since though, can't really find the time, unfortunately.
CosbehFox Posted 2 November 2010 Posted 2 November 2010 Gotze is the boy...he's that good even Mattias Sammer has cummed his pants over him. Expected call-up for the German national team at 18! Apparently Sunday's game was one for the purist. Two attacking sides full of youth, mostly German-based and both brought together by the Klopp.
Frost Posted 2 November 2010 Posted 2 November 2010 Loving the Bundesliga this year, Sahin has been top notch <3 Mainz have been quality as well, evidently enough. Schalke are in a dire situation & Bayern are lurking in mid-table, cracking stuff. Watched some good games this season, Dortmund vs Koln was good a while ago and more recently versus Mainz. Both were good attacking, end to end games, pleasing to watch. St Pauli have had a pretty good start on their return, sitting in 13th place on the back of a couple of defeats. & overall there are some very good young prospects coming through. Gündoğan and Ekici at Nurnberg, Holtby at Mainz, Gotze & Kagawa at Dortmund are a few that spring to mind from this season. Going over to Germany towards the end of the season, or definitely next season with a few lads, but we're currently not too sure who to go and watch. Dortmund, Pauli & Bayern are the main choices, but as a few of you on here have travelled before I'd just like a little information as to why it was so good/bad if possible? Atmosphere etc. Thanks
MC Prussian Posted 2 November 2010 Posted 2 November 2010 If you're planning on visiting Germany for football, maybe you want to try Freiburg. It's a lovely city and the SC's stadium is not too big and always features a big crowd. Other than that, the "smaller" Berlin teams like BFC Dynamo or Union Berlin always have something special about them. If you can, go and see some games in the 2. Bundesliga. In that regard, Kaiserslautern's Betzenberg and Duesseldorf's Esprit Arena are also good shouts. Obviously, in terms of atmosphere, the Millerntor and the Westfalenstadion are hard to top. (Excluding the Allianz Arena for personal reasons )
C-man Posted 2 November 2010 Posted 2 November 2010 Off to Germany the weekend before Xmas. Visiting Moenchengladbach on the Friday night (vs Hamburg), Fortuna Dusseldorf vs Furth on the Saturday and Leverkusen vs Freiburg on the Sunday. Was considering Eintracht at home to Dortmund but that detour is likely to be too expensive for a cheapo student.

Can imagine mate, sounds like it'd have been pretty awesome by all accounts. The weekend I go, we'll probably be in the Pauli end at their place which will be pretty sweet! REALLY want Dortmund to score when I go, guessing the noise would be insane. Y'know, provided Pauli score as many or more! Thanks Aside from the obvious improvement in atmospheres at German grounds compared to those at home, I'd say it's just genuinely a nice country to visit; they love tourists over there and seem as though the enjoy your company. Got no trouble from anyone despite barely being able to speak a word of German, had some top quality bant and some pretty crazy nights out as well. The food is so unhealthy it's brilliant, the beer is stronger and comes in obscenely-sized jugs and, if it's your kinda thing, there's porn. Everywhere! You're allowed to drink beer in your seat and stand freely as well. And if you're travelling around, some of the scenery is absolutely superb. I am, however, pretty biased seeing as I went on basically the perfect weekend: a train through the mountains into Austria in blazing sunshine on the Friday afternoon, saw Bayern essentially win the league at home by winning 3-1 whilst their nearest rivals got beat, and also got to see what was in effect St Pauli's promotion party + ensuing pitch invasion away from home (at which nobody was arrested and the police conversed with people happily and took pictures for them on the pitch with their respective mobile phones). Off to Germany the weekend before Xmas. 'Gladbach is meant to be a top place to visit according to Andy, and the Furth fans are a pretty decent bunch (well, at home, anyway). Should be in for a top trip there, James. A trip has been organised by the guy who sorted the last one for the same weekend you're going, just a shame it's right next to Xmas and falls on my birthday weekend meaning hardly any of the boys would be able to go, that'd have been ideal for me!

I would have been available that weekend! February's looking less and less likely for me though. The thought of missing out again makes me want to cry. Anyway, as Fortuna have been mentioned - does anyone know what the deal is with their friendship with Ipswich?
MC Prussian Posted 2 November 2010 Posted 2 November 2010 I would have been available that weekend! February's looking less and less likely for me though. The thought of missing out again makes me want to cry. Anyway, as Fortuna have been mentioned - does anyone know what the deal is with their friendship with Ipswich? http://www.twtd.co.u..._off_to_germany Dave Loudnproud, who is organising the trip, told TWTD how the friendship started: "The Fortuna thing began when Joe Royle took Town on a pre-season jolly to Europe several seasons ago."A small group of us were sitting in the sun drinking a few local brews at some unmentionable market square bar in our Town shirts. We were approached by some Fortuna fans who asked us what we were doing there."We got invited to attend one of their games (they were in the German third division then) and we were treated like VIPs. I suggested that they perhaps should come to Portman Road and they have continued to do so every season after that, 50, 60 or 75 people at a time! They always raise money for a local Ipswich cause and they spend upwards of £2000 in merchandise every visit. "Our goal is to get the two clubs together for a pre-season friendly, which very nearly happened in the Jim Magilton/Derek Bowden era."
CosbehFox Posted 3 November 2010 Posted 3 November 2010 Was considering Eintracht at home to Dortmund but that detour is likely to be too expensive for a cheapo student. Possibly if you get a train to the reaches of the Frankfurt 'area' and then just jump abroad towards Frankfurt for free! I've been meaning to go Germany for donkeys...even planned the trips and flights but never booked them. Worst problem for me is my uni days are always Monday/Tuesdays.
RedHux Posted 3 November 2010 Posted 3 November 2010 If you're going to see St Pauli the home tickets are a swine to get hold of. You could try the Fanladen or try and get some off some kind soul in the many fine drinking establishments nearby. Th atmos however is worth the hassle.
lildave3 Posted 6 November 2010 Posted 6 November 2010 Celtic 9 - 0 Aberdeen  Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes both grabbing hat tricks Fener won 4-2 today, Semih bagged a brace
C-man Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Dortmund won 4-0 at Hannover, Stuttgart had a big 6-0 at home to Bremen and Leverkusen won for only the second time at home this season (3-1 vs Kaiserslautern) to move back above Eintracht into 3rd. Yesterday, Freiburg beat Mainz and bottom club 'Gladbach got a deserved draw at home to Bayern. Marco Reus looks pretty useful for 'Gladbach. Schalke finally won at home in the league on Friday night against Pauli.
BoneDog Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 Lovin the chicken at the Benfica Porto match! Not so keen on the golf balls on players heads. That kind of thing should be kept for battles with like minded fans afterwards.
