Stadt Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Hibs are shit though, waste of a SPL space. In more important scottish football news - Cowdenbeath may well survive their first season up in Div 1. In 7th, 5 points clear of bottom (dundee) with 3 games in hand, 4 points clear of 9th place stirling (though they've played as many as cowdenbeath) and a point + 2 games in hand over ross county in 8th. Cowndenbeath possibly have the best football team name ever.
Bugg Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Cowndenbeath possibly have the best football team name ever. Stenhousemuir gives Cowdenbeath stiff competition.

StanSP Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Real Madrid won their semi against Sevilla 3-0, meaning they play Barcelona, making a Clasico Copa Del Rey Final! It's Barca's 35th Copa Del Rey final. But it means they'll play each other twice within a week - 17th and 20th April. Last time they played a final with each other was 21 years ago, venue being Mestalla so I'm guessing it will be there again. Definitely looking forward to that week!

Fair play to Pauli, you just got to love them.
lildave3 Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Have people seen what happened in the Olympiakos/Panathaniakos game the other day? Ridiculous scenes.
StanSP Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Nope. Didn't even hear about it What happened?
accessory Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Djibril Cissé's Wiki page On February 21, Olympiakos beat Panathinaikos 2-1 in a controversial game and after the final whistle, dozens of Olympiakos fans invaded the pitch and, amid the celebrations, several of them aimed kicks and punches at Cissé and some of his teammates including Cédric Kanté, Simão Junior, Josu Sarriegi and Alexandros Tzorvas. Cisse stated that he was being racially abused by Olympiakos fans, and he would leave the Greek Championship at the end of the 2010-2011 season.Cisse also suggested that Panathinaikos should have won the derby and were only denied by the referee Dimitris Kalopoulos’s decision to disallow what seemed a legitimate Panathinaikos goal for offside and to allow a controversial Olympiakos goal in the 91st minute to stand. He stated that he has lost his patience with questionable refereeing in Greece. “I will make my decisions but believe me, I’ve had it up to here. I can’t go on under these condition." On 22.02.11 it was reported that Newcastle United were ready to offer Cisse a contract if he were able to terminate his contract at Panathinaikos
MC Prussian Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 JAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Dortmund beat Gayern 3-1 away - first win in Munich in 20 years. After the shock of losing goalkeeper Weidenfeller for a longer period of time and the recent drop in form, the Westphalia outfit have found back to winning ways.

How long is the kepper out for cos my fav player from Melbourne Victory played his first game in goals for Dortmund and apparently played quite well.....going to be a star

CosbehFox Posted 27 February 2011 Posted 27 February 2011 H$V 0 - 1 St Pauli Anyone heard about the trouble at this game? They reckon a good percentage of the away end left because of the police treating the fans like crap. Ligue Un looks the best finish atm. 5 teams including a Lille side who can be very exciting to watch.
MC Prussian Posted 27 February 2011 Posted 27 February 2011 How long is the kepper out for cos my fav player from Melbourne Victory played his first game in goals for Dortmund and apparently played quite well.....going to be a star Current news say Weidenfeller sustained sprained ligaments and an additional laceration in his left knee in a collision with Mats Hummels during a training session. It is unclear for how long he will be sidelined. Langerak, in the meantime, has received high praises from Dortmund fans for his fast reflexes and his positioning. Some say they're not too convinced with his tendency of punching long balls away. But overall, not too shabby for a previously unknown 22-year old Australian goalkeeper.
Finnegan Posted 27 February 2011 Posted 27 February 2011 that Oz commentator possibly the worst in history. And I've never heard a guy get so excited over a kid goalkeeper.

USP left in protest, think some Pauli fans stayed though.

I've seen him play ever league game and ACL games over the last 3 seasons at Melbourne and he has never been much of a puncher but in those highlights he did punch a couple he would normall just catch. Certaintly has a bright future and is such a well spoken kid who had was well respected by every one including fans at Melbourne. that Oz commentator possibly the worst in history. And I've never heard a guy get so excited over a kid goalkeeper. With an accent like that i wouldn't of thought it was an Aussie commentator wasn't an Aussie coverage.
The Doctor Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 ft celtic 1-0 rangers. all kicking off there, rangers down to 10 already when bougherra comes through the back of commons, bougherra sent off, grabbing the refs hand and pinning it to the side trying to stop the card being shown then after the whistle goes lennon and mccoist start squaring up.
StanSP Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 Barca beat Valencia 1-0 They're now 10 points clear of Real Madrid, who play Malaga on Thursday. Messi, who got the winner today, is now 3 goals ahead of Ronaldo too. Just for reference, Barca are 20 points ahead of Valencia in 3rd .

First twenty minutes of the game were incredible, I think the ball went out of play only a few times and both teams just went for it! Valencia looked dead after half an hour though. Its all about next tuesday now though, id imagine the second string will be out on saturday against Zaragoza(unfortunately for my boss who has gone to watch them). Also Best wishes to Guardiola who was admitted to hospital this morning for treatment on his acute back pain. Was strange seeing him sit on the bench for 90 minutes last night!
