FoxesAreBlue Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 I thought that was amazing, and then it turns out the guy's only got one hand! hats off mate...
jamesmilner Posted 4 June 2011 Posted 4 June 2011 i know some people are disappointed at not being able to bid due to funds , but you still can donate to loros even if it was a few pounds , it would help . ex leicester player dean smith and his family were helped by loros before he passed and birch is alot of help for loros . you too could make a difference . my mum is 72 and still shakes the tins for them , loros is a great help to lots of unfortunate people .
davieG Posted 4 June 2011 Author Posted 4 June 2011 Does anyone know the actual size of this? It is to scale but I can't remember the ratio, there's more images on their Facebook page including one with a mug which might help you put a fix on it. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.184413768235538.47125.182911265052455
DB11 Posted 4 June 2011 Posted 4 June 2011 It beats me why this was never incorperated into the new stadium. Because it looks old and not modern? Why would you build a new stadium and make it look old
lcfc"weasel" Posted 4 June 2011 Posted 4 June 2011 Because it looks old and not modern? Why would you build a new stadium and make it look old To give it character? Old > Identikit.
The Doctor Posted 4 June 2011 Posted 4 June 2011 To give it character? Old > Identikit. This. The walkers is just st. mary's with blue seats, which in turn is just pride park with red seats, as is keepmoat. Stadiums need a bit of character. Also it would have been nice to incorporate part of filbert street, and the 117 year history it had, into the new ground.
davieG Posted 4 June 2011 Author Posted 4 June 2011 Because it looks old and not modern? Why would you build a new stadium and make it look old Lots of new buildings are built on an original façade, the Shires/Highcross which was built on the old Co-op front for example. Besides it wouldn't have to have been part of the Stadium as such it could have been rebuilt in the surrounding space maybe as an entrance to the memorial gardens all it needed was a bit of imagination and some respect for times gone by and retaining some historical character. There's very little to commend the frontage of the Walkers Stadium apart from the glass signage the rest looks just like any old office block - totally bland and uninspiring.

Didnt i read that there was going to be some changes to the outside of the stadium?. something about glass facades . Anyway, DavieG nailed it there. The inside of the ground is ok and serves its purpose, but the outside looks like some shyte factory estate.
RedHux Posted 4 June 2011 Posted 4 June 2011 I've only just seen this and would like to add my "bloody hell! That's really bloody good!" to the pile. If I had a hat I would doff it in appreciation. Used to quite like Filbert street fwiw.

All on one level and a bowl shape. It would've been nice to have bits of Filbert St incorporated.
callis Posted 10 June 2011 Posted 10 June 2011 god i miss filbo st, should have redeveloped the east stand and kept the atmosphere
davieG Posted 22 September 2011 Author Posted 22 September 2011 Now been installed at the King Power Stadium http://s876.photobucket.com/albums/ab321/Micky_Bates/Filbo%20Model%20at%20KPS/?action=view¤t=P1010719.jpg Fantastic work Micky
lestajigs Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Thats brilliant, I would of preferred it with the carling stand, only because that's how I remember it (selfish I no!!!)
pSinatra Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Fantastic!!! Thanks for bringing back so many wonderful memories
Len Finsbury Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 That really is fantastic. Whereabouts is it? Do we get to take a closer look?
Soar Fox Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 What I'd give to be playing back there instead of the Lego stadium.
thybluefox Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 I wish I remembered it with the old main stand like that Looks fantastic though, amount of work that's gone into it is mind blowing.
blueharmie Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 wow looks super, will never forget that ground really do miss the character of filbert street. happy days.
