Edmund Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 http://www.leaguemanagers.com/news/news-6653.html STATEMENT REGARDING PAULO SOUSAThe League Managers Association (LMA) can confirm that Leicester City F.C. has parted company with Paulo Sousa with immediate effect. Paulo Sousa said: “To be sacked after being told that there was a long term strategy at the club and after only nine games in charge is something that I find very surprising.” Richard Bevan, Chief Executive of the LMA said, “How can a chairman expect to deliver success at a football club when a talented manager is recruited and dismissed within 2 months, at the start of the season and is given only nine league games to put his own imprint on the squad and the club? “Knee-jerk dismissals, and the chopping and changing of managers will not deliver success on the field and is incredibly destabilizing to the entire club. Paulo’s sacking is even more disappointing in light of the chairman’s comments on Paulo’s appointment, in the summer, when he stated he was ‘delighted to acquire a manager of such great calibre.’ “Leicester City Football Club has had fourteen managers since 2004 and six whilst the current chairman has been at the club. Clearly the club has to examine its manager recruitment strategy as their current approach does not work. It is damaging to the club and its fans and is an inappropriate way to treat talented managers and their careers.”
Guest bennytwohats Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 http://www.leaguemanagers.com/news/news-6653.html To be honest i couldn't agree more.
Nick Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Ah well, Iwe don't need to be mates with the LMA as they have no clout ... and I bet their spokesperson is not a Leicester fan.
Master Fox Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 If we had to give 14 managers the chop a long the way in order to get O'neill back, I couldn't give a shit to be honest.
Braunyfox Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Being a manager is the same as any other job, if you don't do it well your out !!!!!. Try telling Ethel the Asda Till worker and different
dandannieldanok Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 The LMA are correct, this club is really a joke regarding managerial appointments and dismissals.

Ric Flair Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Although I agree in part, in any industry any employee who has performed as badly as Paulo has done in the 3 months he's been here should be relieved of their duties. That is irrespective of anything that has happened at the employers prior to his appointment. The manner in our defeats are worse than anything i've seen as a Leicester fan and that's including our relegation from the Premiership under Taylor and Bassett. Sadly in football managers are sacked without much time being given, but there's absolutely no positives or glimmers of hope that could be taken from Sousa's time at Leicester and he had to go.
davieG Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Anyone who has the slightest degree of confidence in any managerial recruitment involving Mandaric must be stupid.

Wymsey Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Anyone who has the slightest degree of confidence in any managerial recruitment involving Mandaric must be stupid. Yeah me. Out of all the crap managers we have had surely he will get the right person. If its true about Sven and Martin having talks (Guardian) then i think Milan is going the right way to get QUALITY manager in.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Mandaric needs to go just as quickly as Sousa
Finnegan Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 I agree with Flair. The LMA aren't wrong in essence but if you overlook our history their isn't a story here - Sousa's sacking was justifiable, if a little sad.
FoxyPV Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 The manner in our defeats are worse than anything i've seen as a Leicester fan and that's including our relegation from the Premiership under Taylor and Bassett. Sadly in football managers are sacked without much time being given, but there's absolutely no positives or glimmers of hope that could be taken from Sousa's time at Leicester and he had to go. This is the main reason he has been sacked. The displays have been inept on the whole with some rays of light but I'd say the amount of goals we have conceded has been a massive factor in this.
breadandcheese Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 The LMA are unhappy??!!?? So am I at the ridiculous way our club is run. Seriously, we're about to embark on a mid-season marketing tour, when bottom of the league. We're being run by a chairman who is a compulsive liar. We are being sold to a Thai consortium who know nothing of our club but clearly see us as a toy (with the scheduled match against Thailand). We don't actually know who the owners in the consortium even are so don't really know who owns us. We have an unhappy dressing room. We bombed out a good manager to make way for the shower of sh*te that was Sousa. We're now only considering managerial candidates based solely on how well known they are abroad. have I missed anything?
J.Lisemore Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Well i don't really agree, theres only so much time you can give him before we lose way too many games and are playing catch-up. I can understand that 2 months isn't a long time to be in a job but he wasn't just losing games, he was losing them badly.
Kilworthfox Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 To be honest i couldn't agree more. I completely agree too, we are a joke of a club when it come to appointing managers
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 This is being featured on 5 Live now. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/bbc_radio_five_live
cc_star Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Of course the LMA is going to say that and in the main they right, but we can't tolerate shit managers and Sousa was shit 1 win in 9 and it wasn't like there was a sign that would be turned around soon with his shit signing, shit man-management techniques, shit team selection, and total and utter shit defending Manderic has been unlucky a few times with managers though, although I'm glad he left Megson just used us as a shop window, and Worthington was never anything more than a stand-in, Martin Allen had problems, and Pearson was forced out which was nothing to do with Manderic. he appointed Holloway in good faith who turned out to be shit for us, same as Sousa good riddance, and although Sven is hardly likely to stabilise things he has got results as a club manager, and compared to Capello he was fooking genius International manager
breadandcheese Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Ric Flair is correct. Not always. I could have sworn a couple of weeks back, he said Sousa wouldn't see out September. October the 1st Ric. He left on October 1st.
