Sly Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 I've not really been keeping up to date with the all the happenings at Liverpool. I caught a snippet of information yesterday that they were facing administration if they wearn't sold. Are they really in that much of a mess?!?

It makes no sense for RBS to force it as they would lose a stack of cash by doing so. RBS will make Hicks and Gillet sell.
The Doctor Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 They are not going into administration. It makes no sense for RBS to force it as they would lose a stack of cash by doing so. RBS will make Hicks and Gillet sell. not if hicks and gillet win the court case today.
StanSP Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 New on the tickertape thing on BBC, Peter Lim has offered £320m for Liverpool, with £40m on new players.
Corky Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 I can't see RBS forcing Liverpool into administration. It would be a PR disaster.
Jon the Hat Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 not if hicks and gillet win the court case today. This is but one in a number of tactics they can use.
FoxyPV Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 Not many scousers outside the court. They're all inside waiting for their cases to be called Boom Boom. I'm here all week. You're all beautiful people, tip your waitresses and try the veal.
Finnegan Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 They're all inside waiting for their cases to be called Boom Boom. I'm here all week. You're all beautiful people, tip your waitresses and try the veal. encore!
FoxyPV Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 encore! An Aardvark walks into a bar. The barman says why the long face? Thank you thank you. You're too kind.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 If they go into administration I'll eat my face.
Benji Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 I think as "owners" of RBS we should all club together to sink the existence of scouse-ness. On a side note, the accounts of the man utd group are quite staggering even more so that they can get away with their state of affairs. 'Gearing' above 1000% Operating profits paying merely the interest of debt? Something has to give soon, just a matter of which big club takes the first fall.
sdb Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 i prefer 'pool to the other big clubs, but for the simple reason of a thrilling relegation battle, i'd be quite interested if they did go into administration. i feel awful for saying that tho.
Sly Posted 13 October 2010 Author Posted 13 October 2010 Didn't Fiorentina go into Admin a few years back and get demoted to Seria Z?!
Jon the Hat Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 RBS won the court case. No doubt there will be an appeal. Quite amusing to see a couple of American chancers getting stitched up by RBS and Martin Broughton.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 I hope Liverpool get relegated, just as I hope Cardiff go bust.
davieG Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 From sky The saga could rumble on for some time yet, with a takeover deal now needing to be thrashed out, but Hicks and Gillett have been refused the right to appeal, meaning one hurdle has been cleared.

According to the BBC Hicks and Gillet can apply to the Court of Appeal for permission to appeal. "Hicks and Gillett had wanted an injunction to halt the sale negotiations but Mr Justice Floyd rejected the applications. "I am not prepared to grant any relief," he said. "If I did it would risk stopping the sale and purchase agreement going ahead." He added that it would be "inappropriate in the circumstances" for him to grant Hicks and Gillett the right to appeal and they would have to apply to the Court of Appeal for permission."
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 Listening to talk sport recently I was amazed at the supporters of the other 'big clubs' revelling in Liverpools misery (they are getting what they deserve etc etc) are they too stupid to realise if it can happen to Liverpool it can happen to Chelsea and both the MANCHESTER clubs, all hideousley in debt and if the funding disappears they will be up the creek without a paddle.

So they have to appeal the appeal, and if they win that appeal then they can appeal? But if they lose their appeal over not being allowed to appeal, Will they appeal the appeal for not being allowed to appeal?
Dr The Singh Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 So they have to appeal the appeal, and if they win that appeal then they can appeal? But if they lose their appeal over not being allowed to appeal, Will they appeal the appeal for not being allowed to appeal? Doesn't sound very appealing to me!!!
Benji Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 So they have to appeal the appeal, and if they win that appeal then they can appeal? But if they lose their appeal over not being allowed to appeal, Will they appeal the appeal for not being allowed to appeal? In case you're actually wondering... The High Court applied the law to the facts of this case. Hicks and Gillett can appeal only if they can prove the law was misinterpreted. They can't just appeal as a God given right because they disagree with the decision. They must be granted leave to appeal which is a mini-summary where the Court of Appeal will decide whether the case is worth listening to or if it's a dead certain for failure (full appeal cases cost a shed load of money). The High Court judge was basically saying don't bother, that's not to say they can't try though. If they aren't granted leave, that's the end of it. If they are granted permission, it may even go to the House of Lords after. Lisa will probably change all of that, it's been a while! I imagine Hicks and Gillett will just seek damages?
sdb Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 this just got very interesting/confusing. i'd explain if i fully understood
