rico Posted 14 October 2010 Posted 14 October 2010 What's your favourite cover version by a band or artist I'll get the ball rolling with a couple of my faves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWS516M7a8U
StanSP Posted 14 October 2010 Posted 14 October 2010 Leona Lewis' Run originally done by Snow Patrol immediately comes to my mind. Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah originally by Leonard Cohen. Johnny Cash's version of Hurt, originally by Nine Inch Nails. The latter moves me so much.

StanSP Posted 14 October 2010 Posted 14 October 2010 I definitely prefer it to NIN's version. The original just doesn't have anywhere near the same effect on me simply as a song as much as the Cash version does.

Alexikokopops Posted 15 October 2010 Posted 15 October 2010 ......................and the winner is If there's one man who can get away with covering a song sung by Jello Biafra it's definitely Serj Tankian. I enjoyed that.
Collier Posted 15 October 2010 Posted 15 October 2010 I definitely prefer it to NIN's version. The original just doesn't have anywhere near the same effect on me simply as a song as much as the Cash version does. Have to remember exactly where Reznor was and his state of mind when he wrote the song, though. Throughout the creation of The Downward Spiral he was a trainwreck, a real, real mess. Taking everything into account it just makes NIN's version alot more powerful for me. That's not me being disrespectful to the Cash version though, which in itself is brilliant, great cover.

Trav Le Bleu Posted 15 October 2010 Posted 15 October 2010 What's your favourite cover version by a band or artist I'd say that Eloise is a better cover by The Damned - but I need to get my thinking cap on! But just off the top of my head...
