Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 20 October 2010 Posted 20 October 2010 Says in todays Mercury thats he 'soldiered on with a back injury', however i do agreee he has been well of the pace this year and is the weak link in the side, he isnt skillfull or fast enough to be a winger and relys heavily on his tehnique, but even his delivery has been poor this year and his constant atempts to knock an impossible 30/ 40 yard ball is starting to get on my nerves
Collier Posted 20 October 2010 Posted 20 October 2010 As a squad player he'd be more than adequate, I'll always love him for the lob against Palace, and it's obvious he's very technically gifted, but he's done next to nothing this season. He simply can't command a first team place anymore. Whatever his position is.
Wymsey Posted 20 October 2010 Posted 20 October 2010 During the Hull game, he try to gave his all but he still looks as if he is not 100% there physically.
davieG Posted 20 October 2010 Posted 20 October 2010 I think we'll be saying goodbye to quite a few recent first team/squad players between now and next summer. One of these days we'll spend more than a blink of the eye with settled team that evolves.
StanSP Posted 20 October 2010 Posted 20 October 2010 I'm beginning to feel resigned to thinking he's just not good enough. I still have a little faith in what he can do, but the faith is diminishing as each performance goes on. It's a shame as he might fit in well at other clubs in this division, but just not for us unfortunately. It's a shame too as when I met him he seemed like a really nice guy.
Adster Posted 20 October 2010 Posted 20 October 2010 i feel sorry for the lad. he tries but its just not good enough. anyway i expect he will still be on the starting lineup a few times soon.
Cobbo Posted 20 October 2010 Posted 20 October 2010 I think he's a good option as a squad player to be honest. He's got great technical ability and on his day can create a lot of chances. Not been great of late but I'm sure his form will improve. He's certainly a better option than, if you think a few years back under Adams etc, Nathan Blake or say, Scot Gemmill....
Tilley Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 He has a back injury and won't play on Saturday according to Stringer's Twitter.
Jimmy Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 if he's been carrying that a while it could explain his poor form
Adster Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 if he's been carrying that a while it could explain his poor form if your read articles from the leicester mercury a few weeks back (not sure the days, i just know i've read them) he has been struggling with some sort of injury for quite some time now. i have faith in the lad.
STUHILL Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 I have faith but it is dwindling slightly. I was very happy when he signed but he is yet to show the player I thought he could be for us. I think he needs to step it up and we will see what he can do for us until the Summer and reassess then. Talented no doubt but needs to be scoring or at least creating goals more often than he is. Lets see what he can do when he is fully fit. Similar situation to Fryatt I think, we know they are good players but are they consistent enough to merit a starting 11 place.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 if your read articles from the leicester mercury a few weeks back (not sure the days, i just know i've read them) he has been struggling with some sort of injury for quite some time now.i have faith in the lad. As a striker?
Kitchandro Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 He's not a striker IMO. He's not a goalscorer and isn't quick. Doesn't really hold the ball up. BUT he is good on the ball (I actually think he's had some decent performances this season, mainly in the cup games when he's started). He should be playing in midfield and then you'd see the best of him. Can't see him getting in the team at the moment - Moussa, Dyer and Oakley are all plaing better on the wings - but he does have the talent to produce some magic. I have faith in him as a midfielder, not as a striker.
marbelladave Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 I have to say that I thought he would be a pivotal player for us as we moved away from Pearson's long ball game to a more possesion orientated passing game. As one of the few players we have who does things differently and can create something out of nothing I very much wanted to see him given the 'playmaker' role in advanced midfield, covered and supported by a couple of holding players. This was pretty much what happened at leads, except King was given the creative role and Gallagher was pushed wide. This really did not work well for Gallagher on the night and in general he has not impressed at all this season, whether it is fitness, form or attitude I really can't say but if he wants a future at this club he has to sort himself out, and do it soon!
STUHILL Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 If we continue 5 in midfield then I see a place for him sitting behind the striker and having a free role but other than that, I don't see him being particular good as a striker or a wide midfield player and he is too light weight to sit CM.
Adster Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 As a striker? i think if he regains full fitness and more confidence, he could be a good striker for us. however, saying that we have alot of new talent coming in so it could be to late for him. he has the potential to be a really good player, i just hope he proves himself as a striker OR a good play to occupy the "free roll" position i think would suit him nicely. i disagree with the sub title of this thread (last game in city shirt). probably didnt help his confidence as he didnt fit in in sousa plans, he was bench warming most of the time.
Kitchandro Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 People shouldn't forget that he was a regular by the end of last season when we were playing so well. He played a big part and it would be a real shame if he left because frankly we don't have another player like him who can create something out of nothing and score great goals. I just think he needs some confidence and perhaps fitness.
Samilktray Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 My mate told me hes in talks with Swindon regarding a loan move there til January.

Sven says he's thinking hard about his last possible loan signing I knew he was injured, i was at leeds and it clearly showed that his back was hurting. But knowing gally has alot of pride he just wants to play, he wouldnt of been prepared to ask for a switch, thats just the type of player he is. Play up gally

The Year Of The Fox Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 Those who went the Leeds away game in the cup will remember he was brilliant that night. Lets not judge too soon-on any player. He'll come good.
