Leicester_Loyal Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Crock. We'll beat them for ourselves, not the fecking sheep. As long as we beat them, I don't give two fooks
Karljohn Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Superb display, great effort from the whole team and full marks to Jack Hobbs who stepped in for Vitor late and had a much better game. Got a cold so going to celebrate the win with a pint of Covonia. Thought SK2 had Derby in it at one point, turned around and looked up to find Filbert Fox stood at the top
brookfox Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Just been reminded of two other good things about the afternoon. Filbert in the kop. Dyer and Gallagher playing a 40 yard one two!
themotivator Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 having been to last 4 home games i was priced/chickened out of going today. i'm absolutely gutted. sounds like it was a cracking performance. might have to man up and face the music for forest. cant see us being unable to dispatch bristol at this rate. well done lads!
Asha Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Shefki Kuqi is a w*nker. What's this all about mate? Noticed Kuqi was coming on and (not caring) looked over to my right and there was you absolutely raging at him Confused me a little...
Guest bennytwohats Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 I thought the penalty looked a bit soft... Stonewall mate! Great game today, for me it was our best performance of the season (well at least of the home games - the ones i've watched) Probably Gallagher was my man of the match today, but everyone played very well. Wellens pass for the first goal was sexual. I'm guesing i speak for most when i say i would absolutely love to sign Naughton and Davies permanently, they were both exceptional today. Great day!
Corky Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Excellent result, Derby were in great form coming into the game but we thoroughly deserved it. Andy King with another to add to his growing reputation and a second penalty in a week for Big Steve, could've had more afterwards as well. The team as a unit played well, Weale looked confident in goal again, Hobbs stepped up to the plate and we dominated in midfield, Wellens in particular having a strong game. And what can you say about Kingy? I had absolutely no doubts he would slot that chance home, easily the best finisher at the club. Gallagher impressed me again and Howard, up on his own, battled gamely, made a superb tackle which helped set up the first and struck his penalty confidently. The team is gaining belief and we are climbing the table. A third clean sheet in four is another plus for the defence and we are scoring consistently too. Lovely.
Austin Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Literally just woke up .. Too much Black ops! CRACKING WIN
marbelladave Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Well, well! Beat the 'in-form' Derby and rarely looked in any trouble, wasn't perfect be any means but pretty good all round. Even enough start but within a few minutes city started to get to get on top, Vassell latched onto a through ball and tucked it away with some style but was judged offside, looked bloody close to me. Within a few moments a shot from Davies goes over the bar, a Wellens free kick was headed just wide by Andy King, then a super pass from Wellens was latched onto by King who slid the ball into the bottom corner, great finish. Barely 15 minutes gone and a goal up, City are rampant and could/should have had at least another, Derby were barely in it. The bad news was that the momentum started to fade about the half hour mark but unlike midweek, Derby were unable to take advantage, without looking really sharp it was pretty much a cruise up to half time. The second half started with something of a Vassell showcase, for the first ten minutes he terrorised the Derby left flank but unfortunately without any real results, after which Derby started to come into their own and for about 15 minutes they took the game to us. Under pressure for the first time Hobbs started to look a bit jittery, and Cunningham was jolted out of his comfort zone, both looked vulnerable for the only time during the game. We started to hit the ball longer giving the ball away for really the only time in the game but City started to fight back with Gallagher and Vassell particularly pushing forward alongside Howard and closing down Derby in their own half. Derby started to wilt and Vassell, who had run himself to a standstill, was replaced by Dyer who continued to torment the Derby left flank, City kept pressing and only some powder puff finishing from pretty much everyone in a blue shirt stopped us from scoring. Eventually a smashing forward run from Naughton was terminated by a very clumsy challenge from Commons. Howard scored from the spot, not great placement but plenty of power and the game was done, Derby never looked like pulling one back. As an aside, Abe took on the responsibility of keeping an eye on Commons, no histrionics or thumping tackles, only one foul as I recall but Commons barely had a kick and Wellens was the the dominant player in midfield, for the first hour anyway. Great result, now if we had only won (as we should) on wednesday...
Corky Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Bringing on Dyer was an inspired move by Sven. Vassell had done okay against their left back for an hour and then allowing Dyer to run at him added significantly to our threat.
lildave3 Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 We were bloody good today. Really, really impressed with what Sven has done with us so far. Defense was solid today, Davies is far too good for us. Hobbs was poor wednesday but was like his old self again today, and I love Naughton too. Amazes me we started the season with Neilson (and us thinking he was playing well) and now we have this guy bombing on. Steve up top was class, Richie had one of those days where he was just running it, King is just King Loved it. Especially seeing as we got the 2nd goal, but still went on the hunt for the third. Really enjoyed watching us.
stix Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Marbella dave = Ledge-end Seriously sometimes dave i reckon you could give rowling a run for her money.
MattyFromLE Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 If we could some how pick up both Davies, and Naughton in Jan for £10m i'd get the cheque book out without even thinking! Both of them were brilliant today!
themotivator Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 off to bed now after a longer wait than usual to watch the highlights on the FLS. wouldn't mind if we featured a bit higher up the billing next week. we are at a very interesting point in our season and we seem to get almost no airtime, especially as it was a "local dery". guess nobody else gives a shit.
haraven Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Been on a boozer since 1400 hours today, and such could not listen to the match on Leicester City World Player - nor exchange snide remarks with Isle of Wight Fox on the FT Chat. However, there are more ways to Rome, and the old Leicester Fosse Road certainly came trhu my Android App "Live soccer results". I had a drink or two too many of pure joy after seeing we'd taken the Rams apart and left them for the furry little sheeps they are... Thanks to DavieG for posting the goals, and for all the other constructive threads about how we played. It has been an utter joy to read, and I think more Sven Gøran Eriksson chants are to come ... we're right below play-offs now ladies and gents... I am in good spirits (in so many ways).
CosbehFox Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Filbert is a legend. On 80 minutes, Looked to my left and he's running up the stairs only to trip over a step. 12th man today he was today. I was giggling at him hi-fiving every player on the pitch at full time.
Kitchandro Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 We were fantastic. Played really good football, were solid at the back bar about 10 minutes in the first half when were being a bit suicidal and they had a couple of chances. But instaed of us coming under pressure in the second it was refreshing to see us come back out and take the game to them again. We upped our game a notch and controlled the second half. Thought Wellens did exactly what I know he can do and he showed why I rate him. He was tough and combative yet creative as well. Bossed the midfield Kingy just never looks like missing when he gets a chance. But the reason he gets so many goals is because he's great at running into the space, his awareness to get into good positions is fantastic, and our other players have the awareness to find him. Once we are over the halfway line he is a very dangerous player. Hobbs was back to his old self. I could tell from an early stage that he was more confident than in previous games. Hopefully he'll kick on from this. Gallagher was the best player on the park IMO. Very skillful and creative and stretched Derby no end with his vision and passing. Howard did what people should expect from him by now, got the tackles in, worried their defenders, held it up, picked some lovely passes to the wide men, took his penalty coolly in a no-nonsense style, and couldn't win a free kick to save his life through no fault of his own. Davies was rock solid and very comfortabel on the ball. Naughton and Cunningham were great going forward too. It was a great team performance, the passing was neat, quick and at times stunning, but we didn't over-pass it like we have done at times this season. I don't agree that Howard encourages us to hoof it, and today backs my point of view up, but he does give us a plan B as he can get to the high balls and hole it up. Today's game should be proof to all the doubters that we do have a squad good enough to challenge for promotion, now we just need to continue to meet these standards. 2-0 was extremely flattering to Derby.
marbelladave Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Marbella dave = Ledge-end Seriously sometimes dave i reckon you could give rowling a run for her money. Que!...
Fox92 Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 I thought it was a great game all round. The away allocation was sold out thus creating a better atmosphere and we won! Wellens was man of the match for me, I think he ran the midfield again. Hobbs was also back to his best, after stepping in late for Vitor. Howard is like a battering ram but I do think we need another striker and Gallagher is improving now. I'd also like to say before the game I was impressed with Savage. He hit the ball into the crowd and then went and said sorry and shook hands with the people that the ball hit. I don't think I've seen that before. He's a ledge. Overall though, I think we deserved to win. Derby play some nice football at times as well.
MrSpaM Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Were the "Yuki Abe - He dosnt understand" chants coming from our fans or theirs? Great result for us yesterday, and a great day out all round, thought we played a blinder
Guest Mee-9 Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Were the "Yuki Abe - He dosnt understand" chants coming from our fans or theirs? Great result for us yesterday, and a great day out all round, thought we played a blinder Ours mate, It's what we sing after, 'Yuki give us a wave.' Leicester played well fair play to them although were still 4th with a home game to come ! Savage's view on the game. He was gracious in defeat for once Like it's been said before, Wellens bossed the game in Midfield.
MrSpaM Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Ours mate, It's what we sing after, 'Yuki give us a wave.' i thought so, don't think i'd heard that sung properly before from where i sit genius
ScouseFox Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Filbert was on form yesterday, loved him running around the kop.
