Derby post match thread

They did say it over the tannoy at least twice before the helicopter and I think again after that as well. The minutes silence started when the ref blew his whistle but some seemed to be too concerned with chanting after the last post to hear it as there was a 10 second gap. Also if someone says something ignore it rather than pipe up as this makes things even worse.

Haha maybe I've just disproved my own idea then because I clearly wasn't paying attention to the tannoy as I never heard it.

Anyway, anybody that made a noise during the silence is a ****. Doesn't take a genius to work out it's a silence and the last post, being noise, isn't part of the silence.

Super game by us, all over them for most of the game... a small patch late in the first half and then a few minutes in the middle of the second where we seemed to switch off. but fantastic for 85%

I liked Vassell's game, made lots of space and you could see they were nervous when he was on the ball.

Im back to loving Gally, he is always giving everyone an option, this of course means he has the ball alot and can give it away or not use it perfectly everytime, but to be fair..no one offers themselves as much as he does.

happy with Weale today, confident on most occassions.

Minutes silence was obviously confusion...and imo after the initial noises, the remainder of the minute was respected.

No problem Chesterfox !!!

I think to be fair Sven knows he can trust Vassell 100% to do exactly what he asks him to do - keep the shape, track back etc but don't think he is so convinced by Dyer just yet. When Vassell is fully fit I still think Dyer would be a better bet as an out and out winger but don't think that Sven is looking for that role hence the inclusion of Vassell

without wanting to täke anything away from a great result and performance, it'd be great to imagine how good howard would be if he didn't miss so many chances or give away so many needless freekicks.

Great result and performance today. Few misplaced passes but to a man I thought we played a really positive, high tempo game.

What a difference two young, fast an fit full backs make. Both overlapping and then having the energy to get back, something that Sven obviously wanted and adressed pretty quickly once he'd seen Bruno, Lamey, Kennedy and Nielson. Great signings Sven!

Wellens and Galagher both played their part cretively and also in individual things they've been criticised for before. Wellens for running for 90 minutes when you sometimes get a 60 minte performance from him and Gallagher for getting stuck in more.

Davies is clearly a class above in this division, looks like a poor mans Ferdinand. Pacey, can bring the ball out, strong in the air, good positioning. Hobbs deserves a massive pat on the back for his performance after Wednesday night. Especially as he'd have found out late he was playing. He's clearly uncomfortable on the left and was helped by having Howard up top so balls could go route one instead of being played out from the back by him an Davies. Derby closed him round less than Sheff Utd which helped him.

Having given it the big one about the money available if we're in a strong position in Jan it'll be interesting to see to what extent Top backs Sven if this continues through the next 6 weeks.

Corona were on offer at Tesco so I'm off to get drunk!

Some casual Derby on the train admitting we were by far the better side; laying the blame at L1s feet for the shambles at the start; praising our support noise wise but criticising our numbers; claiming they could have brought 6k today and that they were the last team to score 4 against Real Madrid (Liverpool anyone) lol

Good result and good perfomance, everyone had a good game. Very pleasing to see Hobbs playing much better.

So glad we played Howard, though I'm sure there are still some idiots who say he is past it.

showing my nerdiness here but i think that was alcoron - tonked real madrid 4-0 in the cup a couple of seasons back (might have been 08-09 season actually) when they were in the spanish equivilent of the conference.

Was this our best all round performance to date? I was only able to listen in due to work, but it sounded like it.

Steve Howard - still doing a great job! Anyone who wants rid of him is an imbercile. I've said it before on here; there is no one in this division who does what Steve Howard does as well as he does.

agreed aprt frpm constant digs at Pearson...he should be amongst one of the true greats of our club for dragging us out of League 1 so quickly and so well

Pearson is recent history but we do have a lot to thank him for

Think they meant in European competition mate.

We were absolutely great today. When we played football, it was brilliant. Playing like that we will beat EVERY team in this division. However, we still need to work on putting chances away.

Yuki Abe was good again- getting better and better- very energetic.

Wellens was fantastic, scrapping for everything, and a great ball into King for the goal.

Our defence- solid as a rock. Naughton and Dyer/Vassell on the right side was lethal.

Bring on Bristol City!

Credit where credit is due, thought the referee was very good today. Did his best to let the players get on with a local derby and sensibly dealt with most, if not all, situations.

Great performance. Great win.

Hobbs was massively improved and full backs got forward and overlapped well.

Wellens had a good game, Abe got stuck in and Howard was brilliant, again :)

Yuki Abe is on fire! Get that bloke a drugs test!! :giggle:

Great result and much better than Wednesdays performance

You could say the same for every other player just on different matters.

Good to see Thracian still can't help mentioning Pearson....I am one of NP's fans but it's over, past history. Had enough of harking back with this club...we're as bad as Forest when it comes to stories of the 'good old days'.

It was very entertaining game. For once a side came to Walkers and played up tempo, attempting to knock the ball around. It helps us without doubt and made the game far more open than any other this season at the Walkers. However, we matched them and after a ten minute dodgy spell in the first half, the pressure on their players was top notch. Back four all solid - though Cunningham needs a bit of work but going forward he's a threat, some lovely overlapping. Naughton is far too good for us, he's better than Davies in my opinion. The midfield three were superb today; Wellens, a player who gets unwarranted stick came out with one of the most accomplished displays from a City player in a long while. He was even dribbling with it today once past a man. Abe still looks short of communication but did a superb job in keeping Commons quiet. Howard was also immense, headers won, aimed, free-kicks won and done with some controlled aggresion. Vassell still looks just off it atm. I have openly criticised Gallagher's performance but he's bucked his ideas and tripled his effort.

Fantastic display. We dominated them and showed no fear whatsoever - that on occasions we have been showing at home. I thought every single player that played today can come out with their heads held high. The defence was solid. There was movement in midfield, unlike Wednesday night and we had players in midfield that were actually breaking the play up, something that we haven't seen done since Lennon days IMO. Howard was a fantastic point to work off. Derby fans were a disgrace. Awful support today from them. Shefki Kuqi is a w*nker.

I thought the penalty looked a bit soft...

We were superb. They weren't as good as they have been recently, but that was due to us hounding them whilst in possession, Wellens and Abe were great.

And Howard completely dominated them all game. Love that guy.

Was definately a penalty, pretty much caught Naughton's legs from behind as he was running full pace, no question about it really.

I've finally seen us beat the sheep in the flesh! Great day all round. I'm usually pretty skeptical about penalty decisions but it was clear cut from my angle. Derby can have no complaints, we just played well. They gave Weale very little to do and we took our chances. Would've loved Lloyd to finish off that jinxing little run it to the box though.

Beers and boxing are calling now. Great Saturday.

We shall hope to beat Forest on the 29th for you guys as well

Crock. We'll beat them for ourselves, not the fecking sheep.
