AoWW Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 I thought this was another 'where should I go on my hols?' thread.
FoxyPV Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 I made a lentil roast for me and the mrs last year - 'twas fooking great if I do say so.
Tilley Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 Why anyone would want anything other than Turkey for Christmas dinner is beyond me.
Samilktray Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 Why anyone would want anything other than Turkey for Christmas dinner is beyond me. Did you think that some people might be allergic to Turkey?
Tilley Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 Is it even possible to be allergic to turkey Samilktray?
Samilktray Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 Of course it is Tilley, although I wouldnt expect someone with such narrow minded views to realise that.
BrummieFOX Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 As meats go, Turkey is pretty shit. Has to be had at Xmas though.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 I'm not bothered about it as i'm vegetarian! Nut roast?
AoWW Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 Turkey is nothing without bread sauce and cranberry sauce. Oh, and roast potatoes, of course. And no sprouts or cabbage.
StanSP Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 Turkey is nothing without bread sauce and cranberry sauce. Oh, and roast potatoes, of course. And no sprouts or cabbage. Sprouts are the work of the devil! Disgusting.
FoxyPV Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 Please DON'T remind me of black pudding! fooking carnivores
BoneDog Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 Crimbo has to be the best Turkey you can find, roasties, mash, carrots and parsnips, sprouts, gravy and bread sauce. And wine or lager.
cambridgefox Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 My family and i,2 mates and their families are going to Nooorfuk for xmas and hired Hellington Hall, now we always get a rolled turkey joint from the butchers, expensive but its made up of just breast meat, its never dry.one of my mates doesnt like turkey so we get a beef joint as well,i understand there are a few of us so can share the cost, but i will put the rolled joint before a whole turkey for flavour. One of my customers has given me a job lot of Goose fat for the potatoes and im working on another customer who brews real ale.Thats me sorted, downside.cooking on an AGA and not got a clue how to do it!
stix Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 M&S Xmas food is the shit. Bit pricey compared yr usual supermarkets but by god it all tastes good!! They do like a 3-4 bird roast with duck turkey and some other one which is real tasty. But even your standard turkey/duck/goose is good And their puddings! Dont get me started....
Samilktray Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 The smell of the turkey cooking on christmas day. Unbeatable.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 Turkey is possibly my least favourite meat. I mean, it tastes of nothing. It's been used at Chrimbo just as a conveniently cheap way of feeding a large gathering of family as traditionally happens. As an alternative I can recommend ostrich. The drumsticks are AMAZING!
