SantiagoFox Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 I asked Kirkand's Uncle last week , who is a city season ticket holder, and he didn't know anything. That's not to say the rumour isn't true.
Kitchandro Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 pritty sure he was from glen parva and played for blaby and whetstone ,and think he a cov fan (stupid i know) WTF? As a Glen Parva lad myself that makes me shudder In fact just cos of that I don't want him!
Sparky Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 Is he a Leicester fan? I know he is from Barwell and has also briefly lived in Burbage, but he also played for The Shitters and I wonder whetehr he's one of them? If he's a Leicester fan then I can see him wanting to come here and if we could get him then bang on! My mate was on City's books as a keeper at same time he was down here and according to him he always turned up wearing West Brom gear. On a side note the greatest goal i ever scored was against him when he was at Blaby and Whetstone, My Oadby Town juniors beat them 9-0
VampLCFC Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 Apparently this is confirmed, there's a bloke at work who knows his cousin, (I know how that sounds, but reliable source) He spoke to him this afternoon, loan until January then permanent deal when the transfer window opens
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 Would love both Kirkland and Miller tbh (I know it's not a thread about Ishmael) BUT they are BOTH injury prone... if they weren't, they'd probably established first teamers in the Premiership.

Exciting times ahead really can't wait for Jan.

Finnegan Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 We have some fucking stupid fans, those who think Pires or Beckham would be weak at this level are amongst them, but to think Kirkland wouldn't be an improvement on Weale? That's not just stupid that's flat out head-mental. Massively undervalued player and easily Prem class. Weale is alright, he's sufficient, but he's hardly the best we've ever had is he?
gibraltarfox Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 More on this No direct quotes but they seem to think he's keen.
Guy Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 If Kirkland is making the switch back south to us then I bet Logan's shaking in his shoes now and will be off before long to a League Two club! I still think Kirkland's being judged by the Wigan hierachy on that disastrous game he had against Blackpool for the Latics on the opening day, to hazard a guess. What's clear is that we need goalkeeping back up or a rival for Weale. Logan or Iheme (is he still about??) are definitely not the answers!

To be fair to him, the Wigan defence that day were non-existant. Literally not even there, I've never seen such a shambles at defending.

I say, Chris is a Leicester lad - even if wasn't a fan - as no one seems to know for sure. So, like when Dion came home - it be nice to have him home. Much like a certain Varney in the Premiership...
terry Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 i dont know chris personallly. and i know nothing about this rumour, but i do know he was on leicesters books when he was about 14/15 and we let him go due to a knee/thigh problem cant remember which. he then went to cov scum where at the time i knew the youth coach (who said he is the best keeper he has seen). he has to warm up an hour or two before any other player to stop himself getting injured during the game.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Kirkland would be a cracking addition to the side tbh. Was fantastic when Bruce was at Wigan, and the defence wasn't full of mediocre Central Americans. Made a few blunders at the start of this season and seems to have lost his place, he'd still be a top 'keeper at this level, though, especially with what's starting to look more and more like a very well organised defence in front of him.
Mack Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Good keeper but very very injury prone. If you are going to have him as your number #1 you need a handy back up, as the back up will be playing at least as many games.
Bert Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Rumoured to be signing to keep dave rennie company.
muzzy1981 Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Sven is clearly a man who likes a challenge and this transends into the players he brings in or show interest in, players who he believes have the ability but are out of favour: Kirkland Davies Vassel Miller Bednar He obviously has confidence in his man management skills to bring out the best in players. I think the Branding Howard as Vieri to the media, just shows what a master he is, imagine being Howard your form has improved greatly and you being compared to a £30m player, he will be absolutely buzzing in training and can lift a squad. I have utmost confidence that Kirkland could have his best years at Leicester under Sven.

MPH Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Lazy journalism on at least two counts. 1. it's just some journalist who has gone "oh, he's from Leicester, he's out of favour and Leicester need a keeper." It's too easy. 2. Use of the word "ambitious" twice in one sentence. Seriously, it's the kind of word that you would avoid using twice in the same paragraph if you took your writing seriously. More on this No direct quotes but they seem to think he's keen. Still lazy journalism?
kimsalabim Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Regardless of his past injury record, I think Kirkland is just about to hit his prime. Should Wigan really let him go, we should snap him up - even though Martinez recently stated Kirkland would be "going nowhere in January". He can be a world-class goalkeeper and what better club to get back to where he belongs than the one in his hometown Leicester? Together with Weale, they'd make a great goalkeeping pair. Something LCFC's been missing in the past 45+ years. Yeah cos our goalies were really crap when we had Keller / Poole, Keller / Arphexad, Flowers / Walker Yep. They were all shit goalkeeping combinations.
Guest Bilo Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 If true, this is a ludicrous signing. Kirkland and Weale will be the best combination of keepers in the division. It would almost certainly spell the end for Logan though.
nickelbyfox Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Would be an amazing signing, seems like he has been around for ages but still only 29! Loves to wear a cap if there's sun and looks like an absolute clown! Love it haha
Jackirius Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 It would almost certainly spell the end for Logan though. What a shame. How is the 'This Forum Thread going? I dare open it as im in an open room at college.
