Dylan Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Kirkland/Weale (depending on fitness) Naughton Davies Vitor Cunningham Abe Wellens King Dyer Vassell Gallagher Subs: (Keeper), Berner, Hobbs, Oakley, Moussa, Bednar, Waghorn. Can't wait for this one now. Don't think you can really keep Dyer out of the team after his performance on Saturday- changed the game in my opinion. Therefore I'd stick him on the wing, and put Vassell in the centre where he looked more comfortable, dropping Bednar to the bench. No doubt of our midfield 3. I can't see the defence changing too bar any injuries that may arise. Only change I could see happening is Kirkland coming into the starting XI if fit. 3 points would be fantastic, against an Ipswich side who couldn't be in much poorer form- losing their last 6 league games. But then so were Watford and Pompey before they beat us- we have a habit of ending teams poor form. If we play like we did against Donny in the second half, we should easily win- but then we've been playing great at home recently, but poor away. My prediction: Ipswich Town 1-2 Leicester City (King, Gallagher)
Jakemoore Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Kirkland (if fit) Noughton, Davies, Vitor, Cunningham Abe. Wellens Dyer. King. Gallagher Vasell Moussa, Waghorn, Fryatt as the 3 used subs.
paddy Agyemang Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Kirkland (if fit) Noughton, Davies, Vitor, Cunningham Abe. Wellens Dyer. King. Gallagher Vasell Moussa, Waghorn, Fryatt as the 3 used subs. Kirkland naughton davies vitor cunningham abe wellens king DYER (not gally) vassell howard subs: fryatt waghorn moussa weale bednar berner
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Vassell up front with Dyer & Gallagher either side, with the rest of the team being the same.
drc Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 Kirkland Naughton Davies Vitor Cunningham Abe Wellens King Dyer Vassell Gallagher Subs: Weale, Berner, Hobbs, Oakley, Howard, Fryatt, Schlupp (
Jackirius Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 Vassell, Waghorn, Davies are doubts for this game. Bednar out.
MPH Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 I think this could be the game that costs Roy Keane his job if we win....
Haydos Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 Sounds like Waggy and Bednar are missing out but still have no idea about Kirkland. With that in mind it's got to be: Weale Naughton Davies Vitor Cunningham Abe King Wellens Dyer Vassell Gallagher Fryatt straight swap for Vassell and Hobbs in for Davies if injuries are the case. We need to somehow find the same mentality as we did second half last week and I think that has been up to Sven and the coaching staff this week. Hopefully the lads have been encouraged by the big win and have a bit of self belief and swagger going into this game. I'm quietly optimistic and I think a win on the road could do wonders for a run into January and tomorrow seems like a perfect place to do it
joelmurray Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 Since Waggy and Bednar are almost definitely not playing, the team that began the second half against Donny. I think that could be the best team even if those two were fit! As for Kirkland or Weale, gotta trust Sven that one or the other would be the best option. Weale Naughton Davies Vitor CunninghamAbe WellensKingDyer GallagherVassell As for subs, it could be a big chance for Fryatt to come on and prove himself, with the other two forwards missing. I hope he can and he does, giving Sven a real headache!
Corky Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 Weale Naughton Davies Vitor Cunningham King Wellens Abe Dyer Vassell Gallagher
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 As for subs, it could be a big chance for Fryatt to come on and prove himself, with the other two forwards missing. I hope he can and he does, giving Sven a real headache! Thats what I'm thinking as well. It'd be great for him to come in & get on the scoresheet. Would create some real competition amongst the strikers for starting positions
J.Lisemore Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 Not confident at all. Can see us losing about 3-0, hopefully they prove me wrong though
B52 Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 Kirkland Naughton Davies Vitor Cunningham Abe Wellens King Dyer Vassell Gallagher Subs: Weale, Berner, Hobbs, Oakley, Howard, Fryatt, Schlupp This I like with Schlupp on the bench. Is Sven has some fun depending on injuries (both Davies and Vassell) it may start something like this: Kirkland Naughton Hobbs Vitor Cunningham Abe Wellens King Dyer Howard or Fryatt Gallagher Subs: Weale, Berner, Davies, Moussa, Fryatt, Vassell, Schlupp
FoxyPV Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 Sod's Law will say we'll lose this match. we'll buck the trend with our away form by winning and possibly score from a corner (but that might be a step too far)
blueredswed Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 I hoping Sven will using the best team he can and therefore Ips-Lei 2-4 Good luck....
Floridafox Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 Not confident at all. Can see us losing about 3-0, hopefully they prove me wrong though Got the same feeling - hate it when we go up against a team on a torrid losing run because it has to end at some point. Just please let it not be against us
darko2k7 Posted 17 December 2010 Posted 17 December 2010 Weale Naughton Davies Vitor Cunningham King Wellens Abe Dyer Vassell Gallagher This
shailen Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 Got the same feeling - hate it when we go up against a team on a torrid losing run because it has to end at some point. Just please let it not be against us Yeah agreed just like pompeys bad results before they played us that day! Hopefully we wont be on the end of a thrashing again
Thracian Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 The Roy Keane factor was something I mentioned to my pals on the market yesterday - he'll be determined to save his job and in some ways it might help us to go behind and let them get nervous trying to defend that lead, rather than us doing the same. Because for whatever reason we're a different team away and especially at Ipswich. Under Pearson we never even set out to win. Just to come away with a point and it was from that earlier juncture I didn't believe we'd have any chance of a top two finish. Ipswich were there for the taking. They were awful. But we just couldn' see it and showed them far more respect than they ever deserved. Yes, Ipswich have been a good side, way back in the 60s and 70s but they are a poor imitation today. We've got the equipment to beat them, no question, but the mentality to do so in Suffolk is quite another question. For me 1-1's the best i expect. and another defeat in our yo-yo season wouldn't surprise me. After all if Bristol City can beat us 2-0 then I'm damned sure Ipswich will fancy their chances even despite our supposedly superior football. We should forget about Roy Keane, cos he won't be playing. We should focus on our own game and play the fast-closing, fast counter-attacking football that suits us best. If we approach it with the philosophy that if we score a goal, let's score another, then, with any luck Ipswich won't have chance to think about recovery tactics. But if we try for a smash and grab and let emotion come into it well, well, we rarely get lucky. We need to keep the tempo up. Quite why you'd want to do anything else in this weather I don't know but a good tempo will surely force mistakes and more especially in these conditions. Good luck lads.

Dont know why we'd be worrying about him for? It surely should be the other way around? We have an ex international manager in charge. Time to realise other teams should be worrying about us for a change rather than being worried about other teams. Roy keane is minor compared to SGE IMO.
benmeysner Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 According to sky, this match is being shown on Sky Sports 2, surely there should be some live streams out there!
TheUltimateWinner Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 Kirkland Naughton Davies Vitor Cunningham Abe Wellens King Gallagher Fryatt Vasell Subs: Weale, Hobbs, Dyer, Howard, Oakley, Moussa, Morrison
Haydos Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 Dont know why we'd be worrying about him for? It surely should be the other way around? Maybe missing the point a bit. Think he means we shouldn't be concerning ourselves with the fact that this is a massive game for him and they have a lot to play for. Not the fact that he's 'Roy Keane'. You're right to a certain extent though, from their point of view they surely can't fancy this. I know away form has been shit but we've still got to be an intimidating outfit. It would be great if players/fans/managers saw us on the fixture list and thought 'don't fancy that one',
Adster Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 Kirkland Naughton Davies Vitor Cunningham Abe Wellens King Gallagher Fryatt Vasell Subs: Weale, Hobbs, Dyer, Howard, Oakley, Moussa, Morrison Explain to me why you would start Fryatt ahead of dyer who deserves to start?
darko2k7 Posted 18 December 2010 Posted 18 December 2010 Same team that started second half last week for me please Sven I think it might be a big risk if Vitor starts with the pitch being hard he could easily pull again or he would have been my only change
