RowlattsFox Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Just had a look through a few premier league squads to see if there's anyone we could look at but there's not many out there that are that good. Wes Brown - seems well down the order at Man Utd, not the greatest but should be a decent centre back in this league. Probably never come though. Leon Best - I know he's ex-cov and I'm not sure he's that good but could be an option. Danny Higignbotham? - Was a decent player in this league for Stoke but how old is he now? Ishmael Miller - maybe we'll try again, is he fit yet? Alan Smith? - Is he getting much of a look in this year at Newcastle, will certainly add some fight. Not much out there in terms of premier league reserves, unless we go for highly rated youngsters. Danny Graham is a good shout in my opinion, always impressed me. How are Watfords finances?
body102 Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Richard Dunne could be the new Frank Sinclair , definately knows where his own goal is . . Good shout tho whole hearted , commited ,decent defender
SMX11 Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 If I was Sven I would tell Weale your my number one for the rest of the season and that should give him a confidence boost that he desperately needs. The formation needs to change to a 4-4-2 imo the three central midfielders makes us too narrow and the advanced wingers expose the young naive full backs to often. Wellens and King did a sterling job last year in the centre of midfield. The centre of defence is in complete disarray and I don't think Curtis Davies is the answer to it, we need to bring in a commanding and experienced centre half in to complement Hobbs or Davies (unlikely to sign for us imo). The striker situation is getting on my nerves atm, I thought Bednar played pretty well when he came on against Leeds but that dismal display yesterday doesn't warrant any further interest from us after his loan expires. Howard cannot play on his own and Waggy doesn't fit the current system (or hasn't been played up front). I think Vassell has been the brightest of the lot especially when he is actually played down the middle and thus we need someone to play along with him, Howard possibly in the short term with hopefully and strong forward being near the top of Sven's wishlist in Jan. These are the types of players I would like to see: DC: Curtis Davies Matt Mills Gareth McAuley Shaun Barker MR/L: Adam Hammill Jobi McAnuff/Jimmy Kebe James Coppinger? Chris Eagles/ Wade Elliott ST: Danny Graham James Vaughan Jason Roberts Steve Morison Unfortunately I can't see most of them being available
Donut Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Im not interested in 'big names' just players to do a job for us in the championship Central Defenders Sean St Ledger Elliott Ward Tamas Kadar Midfielder with a bit of steel and quality Jamie O'Hara Alan Smith David Meyler Ben Watson Tom Soares Brian Stock Versatile Wide Men Will Buckley Chris Eagles Nathan Dyer Matt Jarvis Striker Marvin Sordell Kazenga LuaLua Charlie Austin Tuncay Nathan Delfuoneso
dpjfox Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Richard Dunne (out of favour at VILLA) commanding no nonsense cb (did sven manage him at man city?)
Photographer Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 We already have the big centre half we need if he ever gets fit...Tunchev! Anyone know where he is?
STUHILL Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Richard Dunne is best shout. Just the type of experienced, hard working, no nonsense defender we need to play alongside Hobbs. Would like to see Heskey and the SA Parker come too to give us a new attacking line in a 4-4-2. Another winger too plz but I'm not sure who....
Narborough_fox Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 People will probably brush this aside but Jay DeMerit still without a club (for some obsered reason) and played for USA at the World Cup, good signing on a free and the sort of no nonsense player Jack Hobbs needs beside him to play. I'd also try; Heskey (Leicester lad, would do a job in the Championship easily), Kyle Naughton (As we know can do a job), Patrick Van Annhaloet (sp) (Would be a very good player to have, young and wanting first team football. IF signed permenantly Left-back for a long time).
Sk4 Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Apologies if he is injured but any chance getting Darren Ambrose , also like David Nugent , Jason Koumas , Adam Hamill
z-layrex Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Id love to get speroni, but he loves palace.
J.Lisemore Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Some lower league players who have a bit of commitment to make it to the top please!
sdb Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 I think fringe prem players are the way to go, obviously not the ones who are spent. The likes of Glenn Whelan, Fabio, O'Hara (would be insane on loan to get fit), Naughton of course, maybe Wes Brown, Guthrie (who I hate but is combative), Vela (another long shot), SWP, Bentley etc. Some more realistic than others but none are impossible.
muzzy1981 Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Dunne and Heskey would be a great signings. Just slightly concerned about a rising wage bill.
STUHILL Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Dunne and Heskey would be a great signings. Just slightly concerned about a rising wage bill. These two plus Naughton are all ambitious but still realistic in my opinion. Would like to see a right footed winger come in too and that would be it for me. I think we then need a settled side for the rest of the season
demon_dog Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 12 Million! Suppose Liz Hurley's out of the equation then? Oh sorry wrong sport!
Jackirius Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Spend it all on bringing these lot over from the states for our home games.

Guest Mee-9 Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 I'd have any winger, that can beat a player, and the end product is good. Dyer's lacking with the end product for me. Also I think our best chances would be bringing a lower league striker up a division. Charlie Austin would do nice. No big time charlies, or big money signings. Btw Jackosaurus, were limited to Thai ladyboys mate.
ibbosuk Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Dunne and Heskey would be a great signings. Just slightly concerned about a rising wage bill. :sge:...Sven Says "Dont be, your not paying"....
mmarkie Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 This may not be realistic, but what about Jonny Evans on loan?
Donut Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Just had a quick look on BBC and saw that Tony Mowbrary might be looking to offload David Wheater in the January window. A good solution at centre back id say
ScouseFox Posted 29 December 2010 Posted 29 December 2010 Will Hoskins if you're after a lower league striker. Although Derby are after him in Jan apparently.
