From memory, the only clear cut chance they had was the Sinclair one-on-one near the end, but apart from that, Weale didn't have to make a save, nor did they come close to threatening him. Admittedly, we didn't create much ourselves, but I'd accept the outplaying comment if their possession had translated into sustained pressure in our final third, along with a series of clear cut chances and efforts on goal. Instead, they had a lot of the ball amongst their back four and midfield without really penetrating us in the final third.

Callabinho Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 Brendan Rodgers will always be bitter when we beat his team he claims we approached him once to manage Leicester but he rejected, When i think we assigned someone else to the job. So he will always be bitter. The first half maybe they did "Out-pass" but not "Outplay" us, Swansea looked very assured on the ball but as you pointed out they threatened Rarely in-fact they had one effort on target and it went in. We know we can pass the ball as confidently as any team in the league but Swansea are the best at that so Sven thought best to change how we approached the game and we won, Simples.

Asha Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 I'm a big fan of Swansea. Really love their style of play and general aura. But today I was disappointed with them, don't look top two material at all. As has been said, they kept the ball remarkably well but had no penetration to their efforts. I thought Cotterill in particular was woeful, definitely needed Dyer on earlier to try and make a difference (though ultimately not finding him with the ball anyway). Stunning goal from Sinclair though. Leicester definitely deserve the win. Two scrappy goals from corners but that's about as rare as a long distance strike at the minute! Massive win against an apparently promotion chasing side which will give a lot of confidence and probably kick-start a promotion push of our own.

Fox You Forest Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 They looked very similar to ourselves in the majority of the twelve games Paulo was here (abysmal defending aside), plenty of pretty passing around the half way line but never really getting anywhere.

But second half we closed them down everytime they had the ball and we pushed them back from our box 3-4 times to there keeper so i dont really see how Rodgers can say that. 3 points to us anyway so whos bothered.

I admit, there were spells where they played some neat passing game and pushed us way back, but with no end result. It reminded me of our style of play under Sousa. There must be an irony somewhere.

Thracian Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 The bloke's got a good imagination or had forgotten which team was in which shirts. After conceding the first goal they had a spell where they were winning all the second balls and it was frustrating to see us dropping off and letting them come on to us. But even then I didn't see them as particularly threatening despite their equaliser. After we scored, and certainly second half, we started to increasingly win the 50-50 balls, had more available players and looked completely comfortable for the most part. They had three decent chances including their goal and we had five all in that I can recall. Perfectly well deserved victory to me.

They probably bossed us in regards possession so that's how he'll draw his positives to try and keep the morale of his side up.

If he thinks his small town tin-pot club outplayed us then clearly he was looking through the same Swansea tinted spectacles as the linesman and referee. I thought their gamemanship was a disgrace. Falling over at every possible opportunity, diving all over the place, moaning at the referee to give decisions, the list goes on and on. Then there's the biased decision making of the referee. There was an instance where an offside flag was raised against us, the ref waved advantage as Swansea had the ball and as soon as they lost it he waved it back for the freekick. So Rodgers, for all your diving players, biased refereeing decisions in your favour, you and your tin-pot club in 2nd place can be thankful for what you have because you are punching way above your weight.
