CosbehFox Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Be typical of City to sell their player with the most potential in the first-team squad alongside Hobbs and King.
cc_star Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 http://twitter.com/#!/IanStringerBBC/status/23015358587740160 Michael Morrison having a medical at Sheffield Wednesday today. Damn.
Lcfcman2010 Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Looks like hes off. Been good while it lasted. I'm sure he'll be solid enough for you Owl's! Best of luck to your promotion push and Thanks Michael Morrison. in :sge: we trust?!?!?!
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 bad news but life moves on, thanks for the effort Michael good luck in the future. in Sven we trust . . . . or do we?
hackneyfox Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Be typical of City to sell their player with the most potential in the first-team squad alongside Hobbs and King. Best one I've heard all year, did you see Palace & Portsmouth?
wurmer Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 http://twitter.com/#!/IanStringerBBC/status/23015358587740160 Michael Morrison having a medical at Sheffield Wednesday today. Damn. If this is true, SGE better have someone better lined up or this would be a backwards step. And I will be pissed off too.
MikeyT Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Shame Morrison is going, he obviously has the potentiol to get better and would like to have seen him stay. Best of luck to him though.
hackneyfox Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 If this is true, SGE better have someone better lined up or this would be a backwards step. And I will be pissed off too. He's brought in 2 centre halfs and Naughton may sign today. We have more than enough cover for a utility player who is only good when his confidence is high.
artursteppe Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 If this is true, SGE better have someone better lined up or this would be a backwards step. And I will be pissed off too. We've just bought Sol for the same price! Sven has worked with Morrison and Bamba. Hibs were asking for 2 million for Sol Bamba last summer to sell to teams like Fulham and Rennes. Whether he is worth that or not, I'm guessing Sven thinks he is better ( and he is only 25 yrs old ) than Michael Morrison. Personally I think Sven knows what he is doing. I am prepared to trust and believe in Sven 'cos I'm sure he knows more about football and quality players than most of the precocious 'know it alls' that we get from time to time on this site. I reckon it also probably means we've got Kyle Naughton as well!
Unabomber Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 No great loss, we are looking for better quality now.
SMX11 Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 I think we have to not get too sentimental with outgoings. He has been a good squad player over the last two years and he is a likable player but as people have said we need to look at better quality. Neilson on sunday though ffs
Corky Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 If you have to keep one of Hobbs or Morrison then Hobbs is who I'd stick with.
bigneville Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 That's because he was playing at RB then, which is where he plays best. Are you being serious? Morrison is much better at centre back? He was kept out of the team by make-shift yet fantastic Nolberto Solano. I take it I'm the only one who thinks he's better on the ball than Hobbs then? For sure, he didn't get the nickname Michael "The Hoof" Morrison for nothing. Be typical of City to sell their player with the most potential in the first-team squad alongside Hobbs and King. What potential to be an average Championship defender at best? No great loss, we are looking for better quality now. Fully agree.
Shrenchel Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Can't say I reckon this would be too clever but fvck knows.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Suprised we're letting him go so easily - and I'm also shocked no one else has tried to make an 11th hour bid as I don't think anyone can deny he's a solid player with what seems to be a decent and likable attitude. Seems the transfer was engineered by Morrisons desire to play football, so fair play to the lad and maybe thats why we've accepted the first offer thats come in which is also commendable. This may also throw some insight of why we've been a little inconsistant as clearly players like Fryatt, Morrison and Howard have been considering their futures what with players coming in left, right and centre and thats not necessarly conjusive to good squad harmony and performances to match.
lildave3 Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 More bothered about this than when Fryatt left if i'm honest.
wednesdayfan Posted 6 January 2011 Author Posted 6 January 2011 cheers for the info guys good luck in the championship michael sounds a decent player and a decent signing
wurmer Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 More bothered about this than when Fryatt left if i'm honest. I agree. I'm also concerned that (if the rumours are to be believed) we are chasing players that aren't prepared to drop to the Championship - just feels like Sven isn't a big enough draw to overcome the drop in league. Now I've said that - I am hoping he will prove me wrong!
Guest Bilo Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Massively disappointing this. Fryatt obviously wanted to leave from the minute Pearson left and had to go. Morrison was progressing at a great rate and was getting back into the squad, showing a great attitude. He's going to improve as well I reckon. I just hope Bamba is decent because if he isn't, we're in defensive trouble again.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Saw him giving Martyn Waghorn a wedgie as he was being uncontrollably sick into a wine glass in Life after a play off spot was confirmed. I want him doing that to OUR players, not Neil fucking Mellor.
CosbehFox Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Are you being serious? Morrison is much better at centre back? He was kept out of the team by make-shift yet fantastic Nolberto Solano. [\quote] He was injured at Preston and Solano stood in. Solano only covered for him. For a lad in his earlier 20s to be just an average Championship player, that's potential.
cc_star Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~2260625,00.html "Leicester City defender, Michael Morrison, has joined npower League One side, Sheffield Wednesday, for an undisclosed fee.The 22-year-old centre-back, who was used as a right-back whilst at the Walkers Stadium, passed a medical yesterday and signs for the Owls, hoping to help them seal a return to the npower Championship.
