Stig the Lawnmower Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 apologies if this has been mentioned before, but why do we need more than one ball during the game? when the ball goes out of play the ball boys (bless 'em) throw another on the pitch so we invarably have two balls on the pitch which causes delays. it happens all the time and really pi55es me off. Is is a league directive or club choice. I'm sure it was intended to speed the game up but has the opposite effect.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Our ball boys are fooking useless. They seem to all want to be the one who chucks the ball back first. This multi ball system could work if there was any communication between the ball boys.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Bloody Hell lighten up abit. There kids! Who gives a shit? I don't.
bjblyth Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Bloody Hell lighten up abit. There kids! Who gives a shit? I don't. This.
Wymsey Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Much more worried about who we are going to sign than moan about the kids on the sides of the pitch.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Far prefer the multi-ball game than the one-ball 'wait frikkin ages for the ball to be returned to the keeper/player' yawn fest.
Foxblogger Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 I always feel sorry for a player who scores a hat-trick when a multi-ball system is in place. There's a fair chance that the ball on the pitch at the final whistle wasn't involved in a single goal they scored that day. Which ball are they supposed to take home?
Jackirius Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Burn every ball boy who gets it wrong. Then they will learn.
Wymsey Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Burn every ball boy who gets it wrong. Then they will learn. Due to health and safety issues, this isn't allowed at the Walker's.

Bugg Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Or just ram loads of confetti down their throat. Oh wait... You could just show them a sign telling them something...oh wait, too political.
broughtonblue Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 You could just show them a sign telling them something...oh wait, too political. The way to solve this is to make the sit down all match like we have too, then they won't be able to retrieve the ball
Haydos Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Thought this was one of Sepp's brilliant new ideas for a sec.
Webbo Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Bum every ball boy who gets it wrong. Then they will learn. Are you a Catholic priest?
blueharmie Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 make the balls boys stand in the naughty corner........oh wait.... no standing allowed at the walkers stadium.

Is is a league directive or club choice. I'm sure it was intended to speed the game up but has the opposite effect. you're ignoring the fact that if you have one ball, you have to wait for it to be returned every time it goes out, hence more delays so i don't really know what your point is. Besides, why are you bothered anyway?

1991FOX Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 What a waste of a thread the ball boys are just young lads and they hardly ever delay the games! You need a bit more patience pal!

The Round One?

Perhaps you could be a supervisor ranting at them around the pitch. This would add comedy value. Do you have a tag,and are worried extra delays will break your curfew?
stripeyfox Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Didn't we get our multi ball "priviledge" suspended a few years back because the ball boys were aiding and abetting our players in time wasting etc, by not throwing the ball back to the opposition quickly when they were chasing a game (this was in Micky Adams promotion season, and I seem to remember the home game against Coventry being a good example of this "unsporting" behavoir). Also, can anyone else remember an FA Cup game between Blackburn (then shit, in Division 2 - old money) and Liverpool (not shit then - in Division 1 - old money) about 1991/2. Liverpool scored a late equaliser and Jimmy Hill on MOTD blamed the ball girl for throwing the ball back to Liverpool too quickly which allowed them to score! Seem to remember the Sun running an article on how distraught she was and Mr Hill had to issue an apology. See - it's a tightrope!
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 7 January 2011 Author Posted 7 January 2011 Perhaps you could be a supervisor ranting at them around the pitch. This would add comedy value. yes, quite fancy that. could be called 'Mr Balls' and have two huge testicles hanging out and whack the ball boys with them when they don't perform
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 9 January 2011 Author Posted 9 January 2011 only one ball today. did the game slow down? i think not. If anything it was quicker, no extra balls being thrown on from all angles. That's my point, there is no advantage in the multi ball system at all. bloody good game though!
