Fox You Forest Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Absolute beast, a few more performances like that and 250k will look an absolute steal.
mim Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Another Hibby here. Firstly, well done today. You could easily have won the match. As regards Sol: He's a class act and a total steal at £250,000. He would have been a steal at £1 million. You've got yourselves a player who can play at centre back or as a defensive midfield player. He'll also get the odd goal, but don't build yourselves up for a 10 goal a season centre back. He won't do that, despite the impression he gave today. His only weakness is a touch of overconfidence. Sometimes he'll overplay a bit at the back and get caught out. Don't get on his back if this happens and he'll be a great servant to your club. I'll be keeping an eye on your results and wishing Big Sol all the best.
Leicester Bean Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 6 Shots, 5 of which on target! For a centre back, that is crazy! Sol lalalala Bamba!
Adster Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Man City seemed to think he was a striker to. From the Man City OS: Big striker Sol Bamba scored with his first touch in English football to put City on the back foot, and the boss added: "Bamba is very tall. Next time we must pay more attention to him."
brookfox Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Looked quality today. You can see by his playing style how he'll make a few howlers though. You don't go for that many interceptions, tackles, cruyff turns without the odd slip up! Looking forward to seeing him in the Championship, could be the defender we've been lacking. A Wayne Brown with pace and can pass the ball.
The Doctor Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 That picture is amazing. Pure smugness. agreed, once i get it sorted that or the first one is gonna be in my sig. edit: Oh yeah
Thracian Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 From what I've read he's likely to implode on occasions but I used the term cult figure before I realised this thread was there and how our team has needed such a figure. It quite warms the heart because our best footballing times at City over the years weren't just about results. They were about the personalities who gave us so much to talk about and identify with. Too much City football in recent seasons has been devoid of characters and all about functionaries.

Zingari Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 That picture is amazing. Pure smugness. agreed , that piccy oozes cultification
Rocky Dennis Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 from the os: Man city picture special Is that Sol Bamba or 'Slim' from The Wire??
The Doctor Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Is that Sol Bamba or 'Slim' from The Wire?? better make sure sol doesn't see that, he's the only man to have ever scared george elekobi.
Edmund Posted 9 January 2011 Author Posted 9 January 2011 If our club insist on goal music we need to get La La La La Bamba played over the system every time he scores.
Jordan Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 There's word that Sol Bamba knocked up a stripper while he was with Hibs. "As far as I'm concerned, I'm 100 per cent certain [the baby] is not [mine]," Bamba said. I believe him because I've also heard rumors--to be fair, unsubstantiated thus far--of several other women have now saying that they, too, are pregnant with Bamba's love-children after watching a few minutes of Sol Bamba's Herculean performance in the Leicester-Man City game today either live or on television.
Hibernian Fan Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 I'm loving this Bamba praise. Just remember, anything he does well, Hibs taught him it. I want a Leicester strip with Bamba on the back now.
muzzy1981 Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Loving the afro/scottich twang on interview on foxes player. Legend!
nickelbyfox Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Great interview on foxes player! and amazing game! Absolute legend in my eyes already!!!!!!!!!!!!
too_many_djs Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Well done to him on his debut, thats the sort of performance that made us love him at Hibs. As someone said earlier, his lazy style/overconfidence at times can result in errors, but he looked so comfortable against Jo and Tevez for the majority of the game. Also enjoyed reading the BBC photo caption; 'Man City could not cope with the presence of defender Bamba at set-pieces'. Not bad when up against the likes of Toure, Boateng and Lescott! Glad he has managed to bring so many fans onside in his first game, just hope he doesnt manage to ruin it with his attitude (that can be pretty stinking on occasions).
Finnegan Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Fantastic today. I'm going to sit here quietly grinning with MTWG for now.
Kent Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 I will enjoy my new avatar for some time I think. Vieira, Boateng and Lescott... so helpless.
acooling08 Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Good debut - Yes Cult Hero - Remains to be seen.
Walshy5 Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Terrific debut, what a start to his City career! Have we actually found a goal scoring centre back! Not had one since Steve Walsh, Matty Elliot & Gerry Taggart. Lets hope this game is not a fluke for him. Kisnorbo
Trav Le Bleu Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 A cracking debute, but let's not build him up too much yet (since I know how much we like to knock people down)
