As the Preston players will be raring to play well tomorrow and impress the new manager, i think Sven will adopt more of a defensive approach like a 5-3-2 formation.

When would that ever happen for a weak team like Preston?

Don't be daft.

Leicester City must not show any complacency because they are facing the Championship's basement club this afternoon, manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has warned.

City head to Deepdale, to face Preston North End, buoyed by recent performances.

They have won back-to-back Championship games at Hull City and at home to promotion chasers Swansea City, and held Premier League title challengers Manchester City to a draw in the FA Cup last weekend.

However, Eriksson believes today's clash against the Lillywhites could be even more dangerous.

Phil Brown has taken over as manager at Deepdale following the sacking of Darren Ferguson and Eriksson believes his players will be gunning to impress the new boss.

1x1.GIF"It is a dangerous one because there was a lot of positive press from everyone after Manchester City," he said.

"We have to keep our feet on the ground because, if we think it will be easy at Preston, we will be making a big mistake. It will not be easy. It will probably be more difficult than other types of game. If we are not prepared to battle, to fight, we will lose this game.

"They have a new manager and they have signed some new players, so it will be tricky for us to know who they are going to play and how they are going to play.

"The important thing is how we prepare ourselves, tactically, mentally and physically, to stand up to this battle.

"We have to try to keep on doing well in this new year."

While City are set to hand a debut to new loan signing Yakubu in attack as a replacement for Darius Vassell (hamstring strain), and defender Ben Mee, Brown may start new signings striker Nathan Ellington and Amine Linganzi against City.

The duo joined the Lillywhites on loan from Watford and Blackburn Rovers respectively on Thursday and Brown knows they will face a challenging debut. "We are coming up against a very useful Leicester outfit," said Brown.

"They are full of Premier League-standard players. There's a lot of experience there on the pitch, not just on the management side of things. This will be a big test for us all."

Robbie Neilson has also been ruled out for City because of a knee injury and defender Miguel Vitor remains sidelined with a hamstring problem.

If Vassell had been available I saw a 7-0 stuffing but now I believe it will be 4-0: Yak, Abi, King and Gallagher

Sven saying the right things. Hope it gets through to the players. Wont be an easy game imo.

Nope... Brown (when he's not being an idiot giving team talks on the pitch) is a motivator... just remember hull's amazing results - he's sure to have them fired up and Ellington is no slouch (on his day)

Yak will start, but i dont want to see him up top on his own, he works better with a strike partner i reckon.

Fancy us winning this by 3 or 4 especially with Yak up top, can see him bagging a brace and doing his dove of love celebrations that will make me jizz my pants.

looking at his goals on youtube there was a lot of Cahill involved, so maybe he'll do fine as long as King continues his good work in and around the box.

i'm plumping 1-1 too. would love a win though, we're playing catch up!

Sven says that he won't play 4-4-2 because we haven't got the midfielders for it, so he will keep the same formation. The Yak in for Vassell will be only change I think.
