Guest Bilo Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 him and his mates sit like 5 seats away from me and have done since the first season at the walkers, top bloke likes to start songs of and have a laugh. 5 game ban is plain ridiculous!!! The T-Shirts were ace by the way Genuinely ridiculous. The bloke's supported the club for years, was there at the 1969 FA Cup Final so was understandably gutted to miss the Man City game, never been in any trouble and then the club has the front to ban him for being in the wrong seat when there are empty seats all around. Apparently he was approached by four stewards and two coppers according to a Bentley's poster who knows him, which requires no further comment. The worst of it is he was refused a hearing by the club when he asked for one, so hasn't even been able to put across his side of the incident to the authorities. His treatment has been an absolute joke. Funny that. The German guys we were with were praising the standard of refereeing today in comparison to what they're used to in the 2. Bundesliga. How bad must the officiating be in Deutschland?! Seriously though, good game today and we look genuinely deadly going forward against almost anyone in this division. So much pace, power and quality on the ball that Millwall were left chasing shadows at times. Yakubu has really shown his class in his first two games and clearly terrifies defenders, Bamba is clearly absolutely brimming with confidence and looks an absolute steal for the money and some of the passes that Wellens was putting in were orgasmic. Ben Mee was disappointing overall but that tackle on Morrison does give me faith that the lad will come good, it's easy to forget that he'd been more or less restricted to youth or reserve football before today. Overall, I see no reason why we can't make a play-off push playing like this so long as we just add that extra ruthlessness on our travels.
the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Cant be arsed to comment on the game. ITs all been said. However.................... Since when do you play advantage for a clear foul which is a stone wall penalty..... then.... as if that wasnt enough, lets play go on but for another goal scoring opportunity 1 second later, to be denied by the clear hand ball off a defender....... so with all that, he gives corner. willy puller! The ref got it right!! it wasn't a peno for us, i watched the live stream on net and when u see highlights u will too!
Matt Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Anyone know what went on and if the person was alright in the Family Stand? Saw alot of paramedics and stuff hovering around the lower rows of the Family Stand and alot of people around the area were moved, think I saw the person pushed off in a wheelchair so hope they were ok.
Fosse Boy Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 How the **** is it 'witty'? The irony of a load of teenagers goading others fans about benefits is so thick its unbelievable. fooking hell.... Are you as dense as you're making out? Why on earth are our supporters, many of whom will either get benefits or are too young to be paying tax to contribute to benefits, even going down that route? I'm all for a bit of banter with away fans, but 'we pay your benefits' is retarded to the nth degree. As for clever? Give me a fooking break. "Oh look, south London is a run down dump, let's make fun of how poor they all are". Nice one. I miss the days of football chants being either properly funny, not this dross. Valid. Genuine wit is fine and great to join in with but it's pretty rare sadly. It looked good, would be better if a few lads in the middle were doing it though, some on the outskirts weren't and then ones further down were. I'd rather we didn't adopt the Poznan tbh, its good for now, but we should drop it now. We already have our music and our little Leicester dance What?
ian_marshall Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 OK do better then. Think of a chant yourself. Go on. Or put up with the ones we've got. Again, chants don't have to be based around facts (although the Yuki eating dogs chant is going a bit far with the inaccuracy ) they are just a bt of fun. It's hardly an original or creative chant when other teams in the country are singing it before us.
ian_marshall Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Heard on the radio that L1 were doing the poznan? Would love to have been there! And Millwall calling us tinpot....Pfffft. From the Kop it looked crap mate. There was a vertical strip of supporters next to the away fans doing it in L block and a horizontal strip going across top to of the block at the back of the stand in a weird upside down 'L' shape. Had nowhere near the impact of the Man City fans in the previous home game. Sorry to be negative, but it didnt look very impressive from where I was sat.
sbfox Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 What? You know... the little 'dance' thing some of us do to that Kasabian track. Always a blinder (Actually, I don't mind it too much, at least it gets people making some noise!) Been wanting to make a comment about the match for a while, so here goes... Thought our back four looked hugely unbalanced. I've got no problem with Naughton and Bamba, they look a great combination. However, Mee and Berner looked weak today. I don't want to judge Mee today, it was his first FL match and he didn't have an abysmal game. Obviously he has some work to do and he could do with putting some muscle on, but he was targeted all game by Morrison, one of the league's best 'traditional centre forwards'. Berner looked verrry slow today and I think Mee could be happily moved out there, with either Vitor, Hobbs or a new CB coming in. Midfield was solid as ever. I thought Yuki had a fantastic 90 minutes and it was pleasing to see him conversing with his team mates. As expected, its taken him a while to adjust to the English game and language, but he was fantastic yesterday. His confidence is growing now too and he's more willing to shoot. Wellens was incredible, 'nuff said. I thought Kingy was quietish, but then thinking about it, he did play that great ball in to Dyer for the first goal and he was always in the hole between attack and midfield and building play. Front three looked good and can only get better with playing more together. I thought we looked less rigid with Gally playing (which is nothing to take away from Gally, just my opinion). I think Yakubu has that missing quality that might drive us to promotion too - when he gets the ball he has one thought, drive at goal and get a shot away. Too often we've messed around and lost the ball on the edge of the box with intricate passing. Now we seem to have more a cutting edge. For people who didn't like the Millwall fans... Well what did you expect? Thought they were pretty tame in comparison to the 'good/bad old days' and remain a bit of a relic. Sure, their fans wear all the gear, but they're no longer scary. Yeah, they threw some plastic bottles, but this is a far cry from what they used to do in the past.

Don't get me wrong I love Kasabian, but ever since we introduced 'goal music' I find myself let out a 'YES!' and then find myself just standing there wondering what to do now, and cringing at people doing this 'dance' around me. Just let us celebrate, no music, but this is an old arguement.
FoxyLouby Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 My nephew was a ball boy at the match and had the pleasure of being infront of the Millwall fans. He was very amused at the poor aim of a Millwall fan who launched a hotdog at him. Millwall not the best at taking penno's and lobbing savory snacks it seams.
Poakey Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Valid. Genuine wit is fine and great to join in with but it's pretty rare sadly. Re the Birch, was he there with his mic? What was he saying? (this post is a bit of a mess do to replying on my ipod)
Fosse Boy Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Re the Birch, was he there with his mic? What was he saying? (this post is a bit of a mess do to replying on my ipod) No idea if he was miced up. Good to see him up there though. A genuine bloke who has time for the fans.
Kitchandro Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 It's hardly an original or creative chant when other teams in the country are singing it before us. Fine, I don't really care. I enjoyed chanting it, I chuckled a bit. Chill out.

In a way it's worse than Chelsea Dagger because it's slow and you can't really jump up and down to it. I actually feel like emailing the club and telling them to drop it. It ruins the experience
Bugg Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 I don't even hear the goal music from K block anymore.
Guest Bilo Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 No idea if he was miced up. Good to see him up there though. A genuine bloke who has time for the fans. Yeah, he looked genuinely pleased to see us and made time for the photo ops. Why the club were considering getting rid of a man like that I'll never know, he's an absolute diamond.
Kitchandro Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 I don't even hear the goal music from K block anymore. Really? I think it's really noticeable and I'm in K
cc_star Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Ben Mee reminds me o mcgivern.... Awful, in all fairness il give him a break as it was his first competitive game but he got abused and probably won 3 headers all game, his passing was awful and he just looked all round poor today, if I was Hobbs I would be absolutely gutted to be dropped for him.... On a more positive note every one else in the team was immense, sol BAMBA looks in a different class every time I've seen him, yaks touch and strength is unbelieveable and wellens just ran the show from start to finish, his quick free kick for bambas goals were quality, all round a quality team performance bar Mee but like I said il give him time as I jumped on yuki's back and he's turned in2 a revalation My opinion too, & if he doesn't regain his place I wouldn't blame him for looking elsewhere - he's been given a right runaround by Sven. I don't know why we're developing a player for another club rather than developing our own player, its not like Hobbs doesn't have talent he just needs time to form a partnership with the enigma that is Bamba and he needs coaching to bring his talent out on to the pitch.

Completely agree. Seems Sven wants to bring his own players in and is favouring them too much. He doesn't rate Hobbs, Waghorn. Weale and he didn't rate Berner until Cunningham broke his leg (despite Bruno being a better defender) and seems desperate to replace them, even though we've seen they're good enough. I'll accept Waggy should be 3rd choice striker but the other 3 can still cut it in the first team and they just need some backing from their manager. The only negative of the performance yesterday was the defence and I'm baffled that he picked Mee.
lcfc_jme Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Just a thought but was Hobbs rested yesterday because he played like shit against Millwall at their place and was largely given the runaround by Man City, culminating in him being lucky to survive the 90 minutes? Mee is quite well thought of from what I understand so throwing him in just to have a look against a side that has made all of our defenders (Bamba apart) look crap this season isn't exactly the strangest or worst decision I've ever known a manager to produce.

So everytime a player has a couple of shit games he's dropped? We will never develop and understanding at the back if we keep chopping and changing it. Hobbs was one of our best players over the Christmas period and though he had a bad game at Man City, he was immense in the home game against them. He was a regular last season and won player of the year, this year he's been in and out of the side, and even when he's played has had a different centre back partner every other week. In any case Mee was no better than Hobbs has been in the last 2 games.
davieG Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Hobbs is not a long term solution to the Left CB position, if anyone is keeping him out of the team it's been Curtis Davies and now Bamba at Right CB. We've needed a Left CB since we lost Tunchev, Brown was never more than a temporary replacement who got more games than expected due to the unplanned length of Tunchev's injuries. I can see the Left CB being occupied by Vitor, Mee and then Hobbs unless we make a more permanent signing.

I was merely offering an alternative view for Mee's inclusion yesterday. Hobbs was shit away at Millwall over the Christmas period of which you speak and he was exceptionally lucky not to be sent off during a torrid game away at Man City. Those are cold, hard facts. Didn't think it was that hard to grasp. In fairness to Mee, the only thing Hobbs would have offered us yesterday that Mee didn't was a better aerial presence. But even considering that, he was given the runaround by Morison at The Den and was at fault for at least 1 of the goals there - the same as Mee yesterday. Again, I like Jack Hobbs. I think he has the makings of a fantastic defender and I'd love to see him stick around for years. But I don't think dropping him yesterday was an awful decision and I could certainly understand Sven's way of thinking (if my previous post was indeed his logic behind the dropping).
Wymsey Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Enjoyable game. Glad Bamba is settling very well now into the team. Mee will learn from his penalty area mistakes when he gets more and more experience. I can see him being in the national teams in a couple of years time. Yakubu played well but bit lazy when it comes to headers, ie, he tries to 'jump.' Thought the area where the drummer is was great when they did that Poznan thing after the goals. Saw and sat two tables near to Sven in San Carlo yesterday and after he had a photograph taken with my Nan, (as it was her B'day) i asked him the team is played great during the game and he replied 'this is the start of good things to come.' I hope so and trust him on this
Corky Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 That was a cracking game of football and we played some lovely football at times. One-touch, quick, incisive passing and lots of movement. People actually wanted the ball and didn't shy away. The missed penalty was a big factor, if they'd scored it could've been a different game and it set the tone for Ben Mee who struggled all afternoon (except for one superb tackle on Morison). Good first goal by us, King with a deft flick and Lloyd knocks it in. Brilliant equaliser from them, I know Weale is suspect from long range but no keeper would've saved that. The Yak getting another was great, good run, poor keeping though, and Sol again after clever thinking from Wellens. Second half Millwall started the brighter and were awarded a very generoud second penalty, but we kept our cool, got forward, they had a man sent off and we clinched it with Bamba claiming a second, after another good set-piece from Wellens. Players who stood out for me were Bamba, Naughton, Yakubu, Dyer and Wellens, who was well supported by King and Abe. Berner and Mee weren't at their best but overall we did a good job.
