We could still win the Championship ?

It wasn't so long ago that some people (the majority) were scoffing at our chances of making the Play Offs.

Dunno about winning the league, but automatic promotion is well within our reach.

I think with the players Sven is likely to get in, we should aim for a champions league finish next season. I wonder if we could get players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic as i hear he is unhappy. We should also keep an eye on what happens at Man United as Ferguson might only manage them for one more year and no one would want to be stuck there once he has gone. thats why Giggs has only signed a 1 year extension... There could be some world class players in the offing.... If Rooney knew the old mingers we had in Highfields he would be down here like a shot....

Let's just try & get in the playoffs first if we do & we perform against QPR, Cardiff, Forest & Norwich then automatic may be worth a look but until then we've still got more climbing to do

I still think Forest could be top, QPR second thanks to their cushion and we'll be left with the playoff lottery which is basically a 1 in 4 chance of going up.

I will be happy with playoffs after how we started!! Amazing as this run is, it will end at some point and we will need other teams above us to have major wobbles too and I just cant see all of them dropping points, perhaps only 2 or 3 teams will, which would be enough for us to take a play-off place and although I would love to take 2nd and not have the gamble of playoffs, they are still our most realistic chance of promotion! As for 1st? Dreamland!!!

didn't Newcastle blow a 10 point lead to man u ? can and has happened before and will happen again, probably not to us tho, we need three or four clubs to mess up.

I don't think it's going to happen. Even if QPR slip, Forest's position is very strong. In fact, I find myself praying that QPR slip up and let us take 2nd, I feel it's more likely than Forest.

Are you mystic meg ?

No? Thought not.

You don't need a crystal ball to have a decent guess that all the top clubs in this league won't suddenly become incapable of playing football.

Whilst it is mathematically possible for us to win the league, the chances of ALL the teams above dropping sufficient points so that we leap frog them in a dozen and a half games is so remote it's not worth considering. These teams have been around the top 6 all season, maybe 1 or 2 of them might drop off the pace, 3 or 4 at a push are catchable, but the form book isn't likely to change so dramatically across so many teams.

Let's see where we are on Tuesday night, shall we?

I was going through the coming rounds. If we do our job, winning, it will be fun watching teams around us dropping points.

Ipswich and Hull, as examples, can cause a lot of trouble and if they don't they drop points towards play-offs.

If. If. If. It's all theoretical. It'd be like me starting the thread:

'If we'd have signed Rivaldo, would we be in the play-offs now?'

The teams above us are where they are because they are pretty decent sides. There's no chance the majority will drop so many points. Mathematically, it's possible, but in reality, it clearly isn't.

It'd be a monemental acheivement to go up automatically, let alone win the bloody league.

I'd be interested to see how our season compares to sunderland's a few seasons a go. They too were bottom after about 10 games and then went on to become champions. I wonder what the table looked like at this stage?

*To add, I don't think QPR will take it either. They've been decent but don't look much on the side they were at the start of the season, when Mackie had a purple patch.

Pains me to say it, but I reckon Forest will nab it.

Have a look at the custom tables on here:

Stats and shiz

They seemed to be doing a little better than us. By the 1st Oct they'd recovered to 14th position after a fairly poor start.

Forgot how well the Sheep did that year!

It seems about the same to me. They were 10 points off the top, same as us. There's a team in there with a couple of games in hand like Forest. But they were a place higher with a couple more points. And looking at the final league table it was a low scoring year that season

it is possible but I don't believe for one second it will happen to us, we're Leicester, we don't do stuff like that.

It is however in our own hands really. We can take points off Norwich, QPR, Forest and Cardiff, plus there are a few games to be played amongst those above us.

We keep edging towards the playoffs, the gaps get smaller each week. Once we get to 6th the aim for 5th and so on.

Fair enough, didn't have that long a look (at points levels and stuff) tbh. Just where they were at the start and when they began moving up.

I'd usually think the same but we've come this far and I never thought we would. It would be a ridiculous achievement etc etc but like you said, one game and one position at a time

Anyone but Forest or Leeds.

Obviously very unlikey. BUT

Would anyone say right now that Caridff cannot win the league?

If we win tomorrow night we are one point behind them.....

But I'd obviously snatch your hand off for second place.
