Nick Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 There is something that has been 'resonating' in my little head for the past few days, something about the wording Sven used when he described his loan aspirations to the Leicester Mercury: Eriksson told the Leicester Mercury: "We are working on something this week but if it is going to happen, I don't know at this moment. I will know in a couple of days. It is looking good, so maybe. "It is difficult to explain. It is possible but it is more a case of whether we decide to go for it or not, as a club and me as a manager." Now without getting too 'lost in translation' over this, there are a few things in the last line that seem odd. Firstly, "it's difficult to explain...." why Sven , if it's just some geezer from Fulham on loan......... "If we decide to go for it or not........" sounds like a gamble, not quite made up your mind - is it some massive name that isn't signed.... (Lehman, Edgar Fooking Davids.......etc....) (He also said earlier in the week that a player would have to make some important decisions regarding the direction of their career) "It is possible but more a case of wether we decide to go for it or not" - sounds big or as if he has doubts about the player..... "As a club and as me as a Manager" - These noises seem odd ones to make about a loan signing for 9 games. I'm sure people will say that I am reading way to much into it but I don't think so - these are carefully chosen words to avoid answering a question. A question that he has answered before by simply saying "we are looking at a few players" blah blah blah... I think he's in two minds about this and I also think the player in question will cost the club a lot and be a household football name. N.

"I want the player, but because of our situation (big task to reach playoffs) the owners/club/me may wish to keep the money in the bank for our challenge next year. Rather than use the money now on something that looks like a long shot".
