England v 'Wales

Wow. Way to stereotype.

You really do come across as petty with all these pathetic rants about 'English arrogance.' It's almost as if you've read something in the Sun, and bracketed everyone that supports the English football team in the same group, as some sort of braindead.

Perhaps if you took into consideration those of us who don't form opinions on what the majority of the media says, you wouldn't be so ignorant. It'll never happen, though.

More generalising, i know a few people who fit the description you quoted fairly well.

I'm afraid you can dress it up all you like but, love it or (obviously) hate it, you ARE English. Hating the English is just hating yourself.

Is LargeAl not scottish?

If I was english I'd probably hate myself.

Nah born and raised in good ol' blighty.

He's about as Scottish as as a full English breakfast with a nice cuppa Yorkshire tea.

I am, although not according to some on here. With roots in both england and scotland and having been born in england i'm technically more english than scottish but that doesn't make me english - i care more about keeping my scottish roots towards the front of my mind, as a big part of my being because of personal reasons i'm not going to go into on here and so (IMO at least) that tips the balance and so, while by desendence i've got a choice in nationalities, i am more scottish than english.

Glad to see i'm not the only one.

Okay mate, you keep living in denial. It's one thing hating the English when you of a different nationality, but to do it when you are one and the same is plain sad.

I don't know where you have based you stereotypical view of the English, but the sorts you harp on about are in the distinct minority.

Get the massive chip off your shoulder and stop generalising, there's plenty of cvnts in Scotland but i'm sure, equally, they are in the minority too.

Nationally you are English, whether you like it or not. Ethnically you're part Scottish part English. It's your choice to support who you want to support but it's tough shit, you're English.

Okay, so your statement was made based on a 'few people you know.' Millions of people support England, to make such a sweeping statement on such a vast group based on a handful of people is nothing short of retarded.

All Scottish fans are kilt wearing, Ginger wig wearing pissed up twats who have little interest in the actual game.

Looking a little more promising up front for us with Bent now knowing how to score at international level. Defoe still cannot be discounted and if Carroll takes his chances when they come his way, it takes the burden off Rooney who cannot be relied upon as our only hope.

Or at all.

Am I the only one who thinks Rooney is totally useless at international level? I would rather Bent and Carrol played together.

- Parker, Wilshere and Young all excelled for England. Parker really allows Wilshere and Lampard to play their best games. Can see this trio becoming permanent.

- Rooney by no means had a bad game, but is definitely not indispensible

- Ramsey was good for wales and worked his socks off, but was essentially trying to carry a mediocre team

I thought Rooney made some good runs and worked hard. We can cope without in certain games, but it'd be stupid to cast him off.

Me too. In the system we played, we can only play one out and out striker, and Bent is more suited to that. Were we to play 442, you'd think Carroll would play. Rooney is world class, regardless. The fear factor if him playing, as well as his actual talent means you have to play him.

People may not like him as a person, but we've a far better chance of winning games than without him.

no it ****ing well isn't - the scottish national anthem is flower of scotland not god save the queen.

If you want to be all technical about it, Scotland does not have an official anthem at all. flower of scotland is sang but is not and has never been their official anthem. And Just to be all pedantic Scotland the brave was used at most major sporting events up until 2010 outside of football and Rugby. the flower of Scotland is only exclusively synonymous with Football and Rugby.

Hating the english arrogance, your nation's "fans" who believe they have a divine right to success despite only doing well in 2 or 3 international tournaments in the last 81 years, the way the press seem to back up that idea and your players are completely unrespectable.

umm .... lol

having been to scotland many times i can assure you ALL scotish newspapers big up all things sc ottish with regards to sport at every opportunity. You should of seen them falling over themselves when the curling team won gold.

Its called National pride, mate. something you seem to display about Scotland but seem upset about when people display it about England.

true but it not being official doesn't make a jot of difference: most people regard flower of scotland as the scottish national anthem and so although it isn't our official anthem it is still our anthem.

On the point of national pride - fair enough, i went a bit far in this thread and made myself look like an utter cvnt (i would say it was due to being accused of being english but i'm already pretty touchy with regards to nationality and international sport in paticular) and if i offended anyone with my comments about the english then sorry.

I'm still not going to support england or take pleasure in their success, nor will i accept the idea of being english but i'm not going to be as blunt/ignorant/confrontational (take your pick) when nationality comes up as i may have came across in this thread.
