Ric Flair Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Strong rumours that it's all about to go BOOM for The Shitters. Ray Ranson is quitting today and Marlon King is off to Cardiff. I got 43/1 on them and Blackburn to go down a few weeks ago, that's looking massive now. LUMP ON
The Doctor Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Blackburn won't go down: West ham & wolves are too inconsistent to survive and wigan are beyond shit.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 One of west ham or wolves will stay up and you can take that to the bank all day long

Guest Bilo Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 10 point deduction means Coventry WILL go down. I can't say I'd miss them to be honest, much rather an away day in London or Sheffield for Palace or Sheff Yoo than the laughable M69 Derby.
Matt Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Probably be the best thing for them, give them a chance to give up all together or start a fresh and do something. As I always say when teams go into administration can't say I feel sorry for them as what goes around comes around, they voted for a points deduction for going into administration, they've got one. Normally I follow this statement with I feel sorry for the fans...but what fans on this occasion?! Would be a shame because as much as the away games at Cov are shit, and many on here don't see them as a rival I do, they are the nearest other club to me, I hate the city, I hate their fans, at the same time they are a joke club. This isn't even definate anyway, I heard rumours many times before they are days, even hours away from administration and it's never happened, that said it's only a matter of time before it does happen to them.

Molson Canadian Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Maybe we could make a big to sign Aron Gunnarsson ? They might be forced to sell players if they go into administration. Gunnarsson
Ashley Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 I hate Forest more than Coventry and many other clubs to that matter however if they did go into administration then I'd be one happy lad. I don't normally like clubs going into administration however when Leicester were in admin I can remember all the shit we got off them scummy twats down the road, also when we got relegated to league one. Karma is a bitch!
David Guiza Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Any Cov fans I've talked to at Uni actually talk a lot of sense. Many of them don't attend many games any more though due to season after season of drab nothingness and poor football. They have been riding there look for many seasons now and you can't go week after week with those kind of attendances without getting into financial trouble. Wouldn't be surprised if something similar happened to Boro eventually.
ajthefox Posted 25 March 2011 Posted 25 March 2011 I only know one Cov fan but he talks sense and is a proper decent lad. I might not like them but 90% of fans probably don't deserve to loose their club. I don't know what I'd do if City ceased to exist so I wouldn't wish the same on anyone else.

Drift Posted 25 March 2011 Posted 25 March 2011 Latest from the Cov web site: NEWS: CCFC Statement Posted on: Fri 25 Mar 2011 THE Board of CCFC expects to make an official statement on Monday, 28th March. In addition, a press conference will be held at the Ricoh Arena next Wednesday when the local media will have an opportunity to address the Board about the new structure and its plans to take the club forwards. The club's owners, SISU, have committed to providing further funding in order to enable the club to meet current liabilities and move towards a more secure financial standing. SISU has invested nearly £30 million in Coventry City Football Club in just over three years, saving the club from administration at the eleventh hour in December 2007. A new full time, Chief Executive Officer is being recruited with the remit to develop new income streams and maximize existing revenue opportunities. The Board is committed to retaining its best players to ensure our Championship status and to that end, have turned down offers from other clubs for two of our experienced players. SISU is working closely with its new Directors to identify new investors that will help take the club forward to its ultimate goals of Premiership status and ownership of the Ricoh Arena. The Board of Coventry City FC is aware of the importance of regular communication and total transparency at all times regarding club matters and wishes to assure fans that this will be a committed policy in the future. Coventry City Football Club is calling upon supporters, the local community and local business community to unite behind the club for the remaining eight matches of the season to help us to quickly win sufficient points to guarantee safety next season in the Championship. http://www.ccfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10269~2324442,00.html
Starkwell Posted 25 March 2011 Posted 25 March 2011 Along with southampton, they are probably the most boring and pointless team in Britain, lingering moribund for decades without achieving anything. Can't do them anything but good-
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Any Cov fans I've talked to at Uni actually talk a lot of sense. Many of them don't attend many games any more though due to season after season of drab nothingness and poor football. That is no excuse. Our attendance rates in our Championship relegation season weren't shit at all. Strikes me as fickle, to be honest.
Guest Bilo Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Coventry apparently haven't been in the top six of any division for over 40 years, and have only been relegated once in that time. Such long term mediocrity with nothing seasons is hardly going to do wonders for their attendances to be fair but their support is pretty terrible for a club based in such a large city. That's home and away, any club that takes less than 2000 to their biggest derby in the league can hardly crow about their support.
Wymsey Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Coventry apparently haven't been in the top six of any division for over 40 years, and have only been relegated once in that time. These facts are somehow truly unbelievable. I'm quite astonished by this.

Matt Posted 27 March 2011 Posted 27 March 2011 They were in the play-off positions this season. Probably means finished.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 March 2011 Posted 27 March 2011 Yup, meant finished. There's nothing that will kill attendances quicker than mediocrity. Success means bandwagon jumpers, relegation battle means a siege mentality increasing attendances hoping to spur their team out of adverity (Sheffield Wednesday v Palace on the last day of last season for example) but constant mid to low table finishes miles away from promotion but safe from relegation? About as dull as ditchwater for the fans.
ajthefox Posted 31 March 2011 Posted 31 March 2011 I'm pleased they haven't gone under but it's a little weird.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/12910064.stm that article says they don't know if the recent injection will get them through the season and yet it's a short term problem apparently also says in there, "we probably have the best ground in the championship..."

MikeyT Posted 31 March 2011 Posted 31 March 2011 obviously - large sections of the ground are still in perfect condition having never been used. Haha, good answer.
