Finnegan Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 Don't want them to go bust but they won't anyway. Admin, relegation and a bit of asset loss? Bring it on, hilarious!
Matt Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Heard whispers of Administration in 11 days for them. We have all heard this about Cov many times in the past though.
Guest Bilo Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Isn't it too late in the season for them to get a points deduction now? I'm sure they changed the rules after Leeds decided to announce their administration at half-time on the last day so they wouldn't start the following season on -10? Coventry starting next season on -10 without Marlon King, Keiren Westwood and probably a few more would be a recipe for certain relegation surely.

I think it's at the leagues discretion as to whether it would affect their status. So if 10 points won't make a difference to their current position it goes to next season, but if it would, it goes on this season. I might be absolutely wrong though.

lcfc_jme Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 If it happened this season, Cov would be on 43 points, only 2 above Sheff Yoo. Starting on -10 next season would absolutely ruin them seeing as they always start well, get to about 25 points and completely capitulate. It'd leave them on 15 points and in horrible form. Certain relegation, that'd be.

Guest Bilo Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Both outcomes pretty disastrous for them then. If the points deduction were to be applied this season and they went down, there's not a hope in hell of them coming back first time. Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton, Preston, one of Huddersfield, MK Dons or Peterborough and the teams coming up from League Two to compete with as well as the teams that have just fallen short of the play-off spots this season. That division'll be hard next season.
davieG Posted 8 June 2011 Posted 8 June 2011 Still on the brink http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/coventry-city-fc/coventry-city-fc-news/2011/06/07/coventry-city-on-the-brink-after-accounts-revealed-92746-28833554/
accessory Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 Reading the small print of that article, it seems their excuse that many lower-league clubs (including us) are in a similar boat. We weren't exactly a beacon of transparency during the Mandaric years. Had the Mercury been given access to our trading figures, no doubt we'd have been a risk of similar headlines. However where the sky blues may well be in bother is the state of their parent company, itself rumoured to face solvency issues. With their two top players seemingly off to pastures new, and a rookie boss in charge, it looks like Cov may be in for yet another winter battling against the drop.

Not to forget the 10 point penalty if they do go into admin. Get on them to be relegated while you can still get 13/5 on them at Coral. That won't be around for long.
MPH Posted 11 June 2011 Posted 11 June 2011 Surely not having Marlon king on their books now ( ) will save them a fair wack . Thats got to be about a million quid saved right there just for next season.
Matt Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Hearing their consortium will have run out of funds by the end of the month sparking rumours once again that adminstration is on the horizon. It's only a matter of time for Cov, surely?
Guest Bilo Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 If Coventry finish within 20 points of us next season, I will post a picture of me dressed as Nyan Cat on this very thread.
CosbehFox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 They've apparently took out a loan on season ticket sales. In which case they ain't got long.
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Wouldnt want to see any football club go into administration or even worse go bankrupt, we are all fans at the end of teh day and should support each other when it comes to that. That said, everyone I have ever met associated with Coventry has been a cu*t
Pst Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 I very much dislike Cov. It would pain me to see them go into admin...
Mickey O'Neil Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Can't stand 'em, but grudgingly wouldn't want them to go under. However, a nice points deduction wouldn't go amiss!!!
FoxyPV Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 Eternal mid table mediocrity is much more of a punishment
jonthefox Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 I very much dislike Cov. It would pain me to see them go into admin... You can only go into admin with assets. As the scumbags have none they would have to go unto liquidation ala rushden. Maybe with all our cash, we could buy them. You know to vet the kids, uses the ground for training etc.

Simmo86 Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 Us selling 5k + tickets for August 6th might help them a little bit. Leicester City filthy rich but always there to help a neighbour in need!
