Guest Mee-9 Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 I think most of us can accept the playoffs have gone, Without being too pessimistic and negative, Who would your REALISTIC starting XI next season be? Mine would be. Westwood (Class Keeper, Out of contract isn't he?) Naughton (Some have said he's QPR destined at the end of this season, but maybe we could get another cheeky loan from Spurs) Hobbs (Give him the confidence that he had under Pearson, and with a settled back four and he could be the player he was last season.) Bamba Berner (He's not getting younger, but he's a sufficient defensively sound, sufficient going forward left back) Gallagher (Most improved player by a country mile under Sven, My player of the season) Wellens (If he can find the form he had before he won the Player of the month award, his experience/skill could be vital) King Dyer/Vassell (These both give us the pace we need) Simon Cox (Why not? Doesn't get a game at WBA, we need a striker who can score goals, maybe he can?) Danny Graham/Shane Long/ANY PLAYER WHO CAN PUT THE BALL IN THE NET AT THIS LEVEL / Waghorn?
LCFC94 Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Alex Smithies (westwood will go to a prem team) Kyle Naughton Vitor Mee Cunningham (quality before his injury) Gallagher King Wellens Danns Kamara Graham/Maynard
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 New keeper Permanent RB (hopefully Naughton) Hobbs Bamba (though would like to see Vitor here) A new LB Wellens King A new cm (but keep Abe) Gallagher A new centre forward (Danny Graham or Helguson would be good) A new winger (possibly Kamara)
lcfcsnow Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 We will not get promoted if sol bamba is a first choice center back..
Antonio Di Natale Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 I would have a 4-4-2 set up. Alex Smithies Kyle Naughton Vitor Bamba Cunningham ( wish he never got injured) Gallagher King Hammill Danns Graham Yakubu or Kamara
sbfox Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 I'm not going to speculate about who the new players might be, but my ideal team would look like this.... --------------------- NEW KEEPER -------------------- ---NEW RB--- BAMBA --- HOBBS --- NEW LB--- -------- WELLENS ---------- ABE--------------------- ------------------GALLY/KING-------------------------- --- SCHLUPP ------------------ NEW LW/MOUSSA--- --------------------- NEW STRIKER ------------------ So that's at least 3 new players, maybe 4 or 5... Easy.
cc_star Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Our formation isn't conducive to not conceding goals, so for me we need to change that & then get the players to fit a new way of playing and for me that means a difficult choice in midfield We're never going to get promotion conceding 3 goals every week, also as repeatedly said today, we need 10 or 15 chances to score a goal, so for me we need 2 forwards, one to knock on & one to bang them in Keeper Naughton Hobbs Mee New left back Gally (Naughton over-lapping would provide the wide threat & Gally will be more involved in the creating) Lee Bowyer (or similar) Wellens Dyer (pref a new left winger) Heskey Shane Long
Mav Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Logan/ new keeper Naughton - Mee/Vitor - A leader - Konchesky/ shorey Wellens - vieira/agustien (swansea)/ cattermole / bullard Gallagher - kamara/king - new winger (puncheon / Bennett / Barnes) Heskey/ shane long/ vaughan/ piquionne
sbfox Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Logan/ new keeper Naughton - Mee/Vitor - A leader - Konchesky/ shorey Wellens - vieira/agustien (swansea)/ cattermole / bullard Gallagher - kamara/king - new winger (puncheon / Bennett / Barnes) Heskey/ shane long/ vaughan/ piquionne Not to piss on your bonfire, but I can never, ever seen Conrad Logan and Patrick Vieira playing in the same team.
Haydos Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 I'm not even going to go into this. I've had all the speculation my brain can take.
cairnsy Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Westwood Naughton Bamba Tunchev Cunningham Gallagher Wellans Abe(/new signing) Moussa Kamara Vas/yak
dannythefox Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Weale Naughton hopefully Bamba Hobbs Mee Wellens King Moussa/Hoolanhan Kamara Waghorn Chopra/Bothroyd But Sven will not buy championship players they will be fringe/old internationals players from the prem!
topharry123 Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Westwood (Class Keeper, Out of contract isn't he? Would be nice. The two we have are just not good enough Naughton (Some have said he's QPR destined at the end of this season, but maybe we could get another cheeky loan from Spurs) We won't get him on loan again. Think we'll have to buy him Hobbs (Give him the confidence that he had under Pearson, and with a settled back four and he could be the player he was last season.)100% agree. Was our backbone under NP Bamba No no no. His first couple of games made him immortal in a lot of eyes. Below average since and not good enough for us if we want to go up. Ben Mee IMO Berner (He's not getting younger, but he's a sufficient defensively sound, sufficient going forward left back)Too old. Will come unstuck against faster wingers. Cunningham would be good if we could get him back Gallagher (Most improved player by a country mile under Sven, My player of the season) Wellens (If he can find the form he had before he won the Player of the month award, his experience/skill could be vital) King Dyer/Vassell (These both give us the pace we need) I don't disagree with any of these, probably Dyer over Vassell Simon Cox (Why not? Doesn't get a game at WBA, we need a striker who can score goals, maybe he can?) Danny Graham/Shane Long/ANY PLAYER WHO CAN PUT THE BALL IN THE NET AT THIS LEVEL / Waghorn? Hopefully Kamara will get a deal with us, and I wouldn't be too unpleased if the Yak did. He's got the skill and the power. If these two formed a partnership they could be deadly
Dames Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 I'd love to see Smithies - Highly rated for the future and seems better than what we currently have. Naughton - Obvious reasons, can only get better too Hobbs - Sven needs to have confidence in this lad, he has bags of potential. Mee - Left sided CB and after improving after his Debut howler seems to be a class act. Cunningham - Looked good in the games he played, definate improvement over Berner/Pva Abe - Hopefully his english will be improved. Its not a coincidence we've conceded more as he's tired and fell out of form. Wellens - Needs to build on a good season and show experience and help king develop more next season. King - Needs to learn to impose himself on games more other than that the goal threat he poses can always win us games. Gradel - Not a fan of the shouldn't have sold him brigade etc etc but if Leeds don't go up we should make a bid, he's come on leaps and bounds this season and would fit in with the current style of play. Yakubu - Lazy? I don't care. He's always a threat, can finish and has proven since he's been here he knows where the net is. Waghorn - Left footed (I think). Makes plenty of effort if he can be trained to a slighly wider role that effort would be put to better use. Not to mention he's pretty quick and a decent player that can only get better. Also we'd need adequate backup.
The Doctor Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Murphy/De Vries/Westwood (any of the 3) Naughton Bamba Mee Left back with pace Abe King New CM Gallagher Yakubu Graham I'd love to see Kevin Phillips here for a season - old as the hills but no-one knows where the goal is more than him.
Charl91 Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Ricardo (Would like to give him some more games) Naughton-Vitor-Bamba-Mee Dyer-King-oakley-gallagher Kamara Vassell Different, but I'd like to see it
Guest NGoloMode Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 We will not get promoted if sol bamba is a first choice center back.. I agree with this sadly.
danny3103 Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Westwood naughton Bamba Tunchev Cunningham Gallagher King Wellens Whittingham Kamara Morison

Assuming Naughton and Vitor stay which, imo, is as likely as Mark Webber winning tomorrow's Chinese GP.
