MikeyT Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Playing Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly. Just been on Radio.
sdb Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Normally this would be pretty good, but after the last 24 hours of build up...well, a little underwhelming. Especially as they'll probably play a few English sides. Nice one Stringer.
ACF Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Saturday, July 30th. 2 weeks after I leave England. Fuck off.

themotivator Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 i went to the barca game a few seasons ago, wasn't it something like Ronaldinho's first game for them? i cant remember to be fair.
dave_the_fox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I won't be able to sleep for days oh the excitement! Wonder how much its cost us to get them over here? Will have to check fm later.........
ACF Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Oooops And, 4 days after I left Bangkok, they played Thailand 5 minutes from where I stayed. God I'm lucky!
dave_the_fox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 i went to the barca game a few seasons ago, wasn't it something like Ronaldinho's first game for them? i cant remember to be fair. Oh yes nalis and Gillespie were amaze that day!
Les-TA-Jon Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Dread to think how much this will cost the club? better spent on a transfer? Hopefully they'll get it back on the ticket sales?
Walkers Wench Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 i take it they are coming here???? i cant belive its the day that i land from madrid,,,,,, 1pm at east mids,,,,im going to miss it arent i
themotivator Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 not that its very big news, but string also revealed he is expecting to see some very good new players in blue by the time we play madrid. "..very busy summer blah blah" not a revalaion as we blatantly have to make signings, but... but nothing, i dont know why im bothering to post this. just thought some people who werent listening to the radio might want to know this piece of nothing information. i thought he was going to let on some more when he said it.
Guest Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 i take it they are coming here???? i cant belive its the day that i land from madrid,,,,,, 1pm at east mids,,,,im going to miss it arent i 11am kick off joke
Bert Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 That date wasn't confirmed, just what Stringer expects it to be.
MacksLCFC Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Normally this would be pretty good, but after the last 24 hours of build up...well, a little underwhelming. A chance to watch some of the biggest stars in the game play for the most successful club in European football and you're underwhelmed? Bit ungrateful ; )
ACF Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 That date wasn't confirmed, just what Stringer expects it to be. Ah, you're right. But it's not going to be 2 weeks earlier is it
davieG Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I can't see how games of this type add any real value to the players pre-season preparations. As a fan I'm underwhelmed, maybe 20/30 years ago it would have been impressive but when they're on the TV every other week it's hardly like you're seeing something special or unique. Unless it's something like a fiver I've got better things to spend my limited funds on. It also goes to show how they, the media at least misunderstand many fans by calling this news massive, Stringer getting the sack would be more massive than this
millzi Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Saturday, July 30th. 2 weeks after I leave England. Fuck off. 2 months before I leave. For exactly the same location
Kitchandro Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I can't see how games of this type add any real value to the players pre-season preparations. If it's more than a tenner I won't be going.
sphericalfox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Right, I bloody knew Stringer would try to cover his arse when making the announcement, and it's VERY clear he's been reading the forums/606 to gauge the atmosphere prior to this MASSIVE announcement. Because you could tell by his tone and describing it as, 'Yeah, well I think it's decent..' Bigging up the cost of their squad, and the fact the team is full of Spanish internationals. We played Man City twice this season and they cost EVEN more than Real Madrid. Yes this will cost the owners lots of money and it's a glamour friendly prior to the start of our season, but frankly geeing it up to be bigger than BIG, is a total nonsense, and you have shot yourself in the foot! Stringer you are an arseclown! If you are reading this then maybe you should take a few lessons in learning how to create tension and build an appropriate level of excitement comparable to the actual size/massiveness of the information you are going to provide! If we all have to put up with this information delivery ALL summer, then I may well start a campaign, as promised, until Stringer changes tact. He has to understand that both his biased commentary has an affect on the fans who go to the matches/and the armchairs too, and that his inside scoops need to have the right approximate build up. Ian if you read this: FIX UP LAD!
millzi Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 So playing Real Madrid is bigger news than Fergie leaving Man Utd. WOW, just wow. You've really excelled yourself this time Stringy and Young.
