fatmando Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I'm sorry but people having ago at Stringer for doing his job, He's trying to get more listeners for bbc radio leicester, so he's going to say it's massive news! god some people He said it was bigger than Fergie leaving United though! Is it home or away then? Away would be a great excuse for a very nice wee weekend city break.
Bert Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 He didn't know, it's obvious and everyone should stop begging him for info. Whilst I did, sometimes you can't reveal everything. But for you, I'll stop "pretending" that I know things and you'll all have to wait until news is properly revealed now.
darko2k7 Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 He said it was bigger than Fergie leaving United though! Is it home or away then? Away would be a great excuse for a very nice wee weekend city break. Actually it was Alan young that said it was bigger than that , Stringer just put Fergie at the top of the scale being a 10 and Alan Young chose to say 11 so blame Youngy for that !!
Bugg Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 We're playing Real fooking Madrid and people are moaning because it isn't "massive" news. Give me strength.
sphericalfox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 This thread is cringeworthy. Seems like some fans are turning a blind eye to the fact real Madrid are coming to play a friendly in our stadium. Who cares what it cost or what strings are pulled, people will take notice. Not just fans and potential fans in youngsters but possibly players worldwide will see we are playing real and want a slice of what this club has to offer. But I won't go cos it isn't really MAHOOOOSIVE news This thread isn't cringeworthy. Stringer's handlind of the news is cringeworthy. That is the theme of disheartenment and annoyance. I think the majority of the posters believe the news of Real Madrid friendly is a positive one. It'll no doubt do wonders for publicity, maybe sell a few more season tickets, and be a nice spectacle for a full house prior to the start oft he season. Who knows maybe with a few decent additions we might pose a threat against them. WIshful thinking, I know. The point that most people are making is Stringer's inability to conduct himself like a professional on the radio. His sheepish voice this morning suggested he knows he over-egged it. However this won't stop him doing it again, and again, and again, and again. This summer is going to be so full of speculation, every piece of news will be good news. NOT massive news. There might be a couple of big bits, but if Stringer blows his wad on a friendly then how in the hell can he cope when we bring in signings, improving the squad? As some have said he's only doing his job. But the lad needs to learn scale and expectation. Otherwise he strengthens the opinion that he is unprofessional and his show is a circus of phone-in nitwits and moaners that reinforce his biased and somewhat destructive opinions which leech into his terrible commentary.
fatmando Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Oi Youngy....your a cock! Wish they'd hurry up and update the os. Home or away?? Itching to search Expedia.
DB11 Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I'm on holiday then. Meh. Probably wouldn't have gone anyway
Ashley Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Congratulations Lcfcsnow, Bert is ITK and yet you moan about him 'not knowing' I can't believe some people on this forum its the same as when people gave knowitall greif for getting the Simon Cox transfer wrong. Give the guy a break
Austin Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Just up and remembered to come on here and check what the news was .. Delightful news Seriously, the build up, the Fergie leaving United thing, Stringer & Young = ****ING MORONS. What an anti climax!
Guest Mee-9 Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Some people need a health check. It's Real Mafookingdrid! Not Real Vallolid or them other shitey teams we usually play. The biggest club in the world, the biggest 'football superstars' and I for one, am coming home a day early from my holiday for it.
Wymsey Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I bet many people wouldn't even imagine one of either Mourinho or SGE coming to Leicester.
lcfcsnow Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Congratulations Lcfcsnow, Bert is ITK and yet you moan about him 'not knowing' I can't believe some people on this forum its the same as when people gave knowitall greif for getting the Simon Cox transfer wrong. Give the guy a break The difference being KIA actually told us info and the critism he got was a disgrace, Bert just comes across as bragging that he knows now.
superfox1980 Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Great news for the club, one of the biggest clubs in the world coming here. I think it shows how much our club has come in a short space of time. Who would have thought this would have been possible 12 months ago?? Positives - 32,000 sell out, added publicity and another sign that the owners mean business, big name friendlies, big name sponsors all add to attracting players. Message for Stringer - get a new job !!! You're a clown !!
Guest Mee-9 Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Should add another tier just for this game! Wonder how many people will spot Christiano Ronaldo in Morrisons buying some Haribo?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Playing Real Madrid is massive news and if you don't think so your a knob head that is all.
Ashley Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 The difference being KIA actually told us info and the critism he got was a disgrace, Bert just comes across as bragging that he knows now. Fair enough, Bert does give enough information out though. If he wanted to he could keep it shut and not say anything however he decides to share his info with us. He's a credit to the forum if you ask me.

I'd better not say anything else or Lcfcsnow might PM me again, telling me I've not had any info "for years" now.
Webbo Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Honestly what exactly were people expecting? It was always going to be something like this, as for the 'bigger than Fergie leaving' schtick it was obviously tongue in cheek. Won't effect me as I'll be on hols, but I bet this'll shown on Thai TV.
Corky Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 It's a great fixture, the matches against foreign teams are usually good (Fiorentina, Barcelona, Bilbao) and even their reserves will be a strong side.
StarFox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 As a Leicester City fan it doesn't bother me if Fergie stays or goes so I agree with Alan Young. This is an '11'. We probably wont get this opportunity again in the near future so this is HUGE news for the club. I don't think some people on here will ever be happy.
Thracian Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Fair enough, Bert does give enough information out though. If he wanted to he could keep it shut and not say anything however he decides to share his info with us. He's a credit to the forum if you ask me. Couldn't agree more!
Stevosevic Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13196823.stm Leicester City have lined up a glamour home pre-season friendly against nine-time European champions Real Madrid, BBC Radio Leicester understands. The Spanish giants, who are managed by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, are likely to visit on Saturday, 30 July. BBC Radio Leicester's Foxes commentator Ian Stringer, who revealed the story on Twitter, said: "One of the best clubs in the world are coming to the Walkers. "I make their side worth around £373m so as news goes it's pretty decent!" Real, who are through to the last four of the Champions League where they will face arch-rivals Barcelona, have already beaten Barca to win the Spanish Cup this season. Former Manchester United winger Ronaldo and Brazilian superstar Kaka are just two of the star names likely to appear for the team dubbed the Galacticos. Stringer added: "You would imagine it will be a sell-out and I expect ticket details to be released later this week. Who would have thought this, this time last season?"
Babylon Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Surely it's impossible not to be caught up in the romance and intruige of Stringer's crazy and misleading hints? I did for five minutes... until I remembered we have this circus every few months or so!! It's great news anyway, nice having a glamour game (although we'll probably lose money as you need to pay teams like them a fortune to play you). Fingers crossed it's a full strength Madrid as it will be good to see Jose and friends down there.
