Danno Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 I think we should offer 6million rising to 6.5. Take it or leave it
ScouseFox Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 He's still not that good. I'll cry if we pay more than 5 million for him, this is ridiculous.
That lad from Japan Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 He's still not that good. I'll cry if we pay more than 5 million for him, this is ridiculous. But he is the player we need, and if we don't get him then there aren't many more options. As long as we have the money to pay, I couldnt care less what we pay, especially if it earns football in the PL
ScouseFox Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 He's worth 2 or 3 million. 4 if you take into account add ons etc. at a push. 6-7 million is horrible.

Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Do you know what, Maynard is now like an eBay item that you've set your heart on. I know no one else is bidding against us, but BCFC have set a price and we seem to be bidding mindlessly just to win him. Personally, I think we've given a good offer and if it's not accepted then we should walk away and target someone else.

I know no one else is bidding against us, but BCFC have set a price and we seem to be bidding mindlessly just to win him. Personally, I think we've given a good offer and if it's not accepted then we should walk away and target someone else. It's a good analogy. Shame there is no buy it now button! As much as we can all debate his true value or worth, the key thing is if sven thinks he is the difference between promotion or not, then the price we may pay is irrelevant as he is priceless if he hits in the goals. Without looking abroad, we have a real problem finding a quality forward that can perforn in the championship. Who else ticks the box? Lucciano beccio? Billy sharp? Leroy lita? Dave kitson? Chris Iwelumo? That's all that is left on offer in the championship... I'd rather Maynard than all them put together. If the club can afford it then we should pay €6,000,000. Because come the end of the season if we are short 3pts, that extra couple of quid will get us in to the premier league. That is what it is all about. 1 goal - promotion. Nothing else is good enough. To do it, we need the strongest team possible. I think Maynard is part of that team. We have to have him. We keep talking about him not handing in a transfer request and how Bristol are publicising our bids. We have never commented on the whole debacle. I think we will comment if we decide to pull out of the chase. The fact that we haven't leads me to think that we will go back again. Pay over the odds and prove it worthy. Premier league 2012

Personally, I think we've given a good offer and if it's not accepted then we should walk away and target someone else. We don't need to 'move on' just yet. I'm sure there's a contingency plan prepared and with weeks and weeks to go and the pre season games not even started yet there's plenty of time left to try and get our man. Rather our No. 1 target in a couple of weeks than our No. 2 or 3 in a week.
