Wherethefoxhat? Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 I'm sorry but £7 million for Maynard? Bothroyd wants £50-£60 grand a week? This is getting stupid, and I for one want this saga to end. Do we have a scouting net-work at all ? Hmmm....seems to have worked reasonably well so far !!!
The Bear Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 I'd just like to say that Brizzle City fans were exactly the same a couple of seasons ago when we were in for Marvin Elliott. Deluded and with an inflated opinion of themselves. They're still no better than they were then and have no signs of ever being any better in the near future. Just take a quick visit to the OTIB forum to see what I mean.
ithuriel Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 I've visited their forum, thought it was an online comedy festival at first One or two on there talk sense and some are dangerously deluded to the point where Bernie might point fingers A good number seem to think racism is an athletic term for runner's or took the series 'Life on Mars', to be how the world still is
Adster Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Aye, just had a look at their dross forum. The worst forum of fans I think i've ever seen. Seem to think they're team's above the world. Also, this bullshit about 'Mega Rich' owners needs to stop, if you're owners were mega rich you'd show ambition and buy players to build the team, instead of buying cast off championship players. Disgusts me to see that racism in general and towards Leicester/Leicester fans is seen as okay on there. Terrible excuse for fans they are, I feel sorry for the decent Bristol fans on that forum, if they're any that is. I for one will not be visiting that shite again. Good day.

Twice I noticed posts that mentioned their debt and the fact that a deal for Maynard would help ease it. Now while I don't claim to understand the in's & out's of a club owner and the clubs relative finances, the question must be if their backer is so massively rich why has he not sorted this debt out?
Buce Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Just took this off the Bristol forum: "Offer of around 5.3m has been tabled. Includes around 3.5m up front including 1m after 30 first team appearances, and 750k after he has scored 20 1st team goals. I have been told this by a mate who works for the Mirror who has a direct link to Leicester. He states that it has been tabled as a final offer."

I bet Maynards just sitting back & pissing himself about all this .............not to mention his agent !!!!!!!!!!!!!
MPH Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 The Sun But City manager Keith Millen fears that Sven Goran Eriksson's Foxes will be back with an improved bid. CASH-STRAPPED Robins may not be able to resist £5m for Maynard, 24, who is in the final year of his deal. Millen said: "We want to keep Nicky because he's an important player for us." Thought you guys had a billionaire owner, stop talking crap. Another owner who dont want to spend a penny of his own cash!! Who have you actually signed so far that has actually cost you anything? Go back to the corn fields, Country bumpkins! Ok so they say they have a billionaire owner but you would rather believe the sun that calls them cash strapped? oh dear Wether the billionaire owner is willing to spend his money or not though is a different discussion altogether.... Well, it is the Sun isn't it. As to the corn fields, there aint that many in an urban area of over a million. I believe Somerset may have such things though ! I had a laugh at the goon who said we are a more established championship club than LCFC, talking out of his arse I'm afraid and even if we were, it's not much to boast about is it. Like others on here have said, let's get this over with one way or the other as it's getting a bit boring now. It's all been said on this board and ours, and now it's just becoming a big willy contest. If i was part of the Bristol City hierachy... i would be pushing for Maynard to issue a public statement saying he wishes to stay. There is no point him saying it privately to people... that wont stop us from bidding... he needs to sign the new contract or issue a public statement... Sven called nicky last night and said "put in a transfer request or **** off" before hanging up ok the THEBIGJOHNSTEADER who used to post had an inside source who gave info around the time of the takeover..... are you trying to say that Nicky has been contacting the club about joining us? i guess thats one way to read what you wrote... but why else would Sven be telling Nicky to ' go away' ?
Guest Bilo Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 All very well talking about having wealthy owners but if I remember rightly Cheltenham Town's owners were worth about £800m and wanted to build a new stadium near the racecourse before investing heavily in the club. They were refused planning permission and went into admin. Plymouth's Japanese owners were worth a shedload too. Rich owners are useless if they don't put money in.

I think a lot of Bristol City fans are in some sort of dreamland-like limbo now. They're obviously believing the hype surrounding the new owners, but without any real investment done (as of right now), they essentially believe words more than they believe actions. Plus, I didn't know they were still in debt. Surely, if you're the rich new owner and such a fan of the club, wouldn't you erase the debt first to start off on a neutral/healthy basis? Maynard's only an investment, put on a fishing rod to swim in the sea in order to attract investors who pay just enough so the money earned from the sale erases the club's current deficit.

As we found ourselves in 02 - some of our directors had the wherewithal to stave off administration, but chose not to use it.

Interesting, would have expected to hear something from Bert if that were true though.

thybluefox Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 IMO thats OTT for maynard Its alot but structured like that would make it easier to swallow. Anyway its probably all BS.

accessory Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Aren't we still in debt? Yep, mainly on our stadium - which is still only rented..

dayday Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 With Sven been given £5million to sign a striker surely he could find somebody better than Maynard, especially with all his contacts.
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Get Sven to have word with big Sam about Carlton Cole.
Redski Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 BCFC lost about £12m last year so yes we are in debt but fortunately for us we are in debt to the Mr Lansdown who owns the club. So although our we can't afford to continue losing £12m a year thanks to SL we are able to write off our debts each year. As for SL spending his money he's about to spend £92m of his own money building a new home for BCFC. So when people say we don't need the money it isn't arrogance or stupidity it's just a fact.
Blanesta Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Talking balls taking the piss http://talkingballs....-Maynard/page15 I thought Talking balls was a male genital site HAAAAA

Just take the deal, it could buy you alot of seats, and quite a few pasty/hotdog outlets
RyanB89 Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 With Sven been given £5million to sign a striker surely he could find somebody better than Maynard, especially with all his contacts. Well he wants players that know the league and dont need time to settle
