Chazwaz Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 It might be worth overpaying for Maynard in the long run rather than buying a player like Evans who would probably not make the jump up a division.
Happy Fox Posted 10 July 2011 Author Posted 10 July 2011 How much would Nicky Maynard realistically cost I am hoping 5.8m will do the trick
Chazwaz Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 I'm best man at a wedding at whittlebury hall in August. Any nice bar staff/waitresses? :-) Ha I would assume so but I have never been into the bar only to the gym, I hear a lot of their workers are eastern European, though I don't think they would be placed on the bar because of the language barrier.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 We don't need to 'move on' just yet. I'm sure there's a contingency plan prepared and with weeks and weeks to go and the pre season games not even started yet there's plenty of time left to try and get our man. Rather our No. 1 target in a couple of weeks than our No. 2 or 3 in a week. Yeah, I just don't want us to be held to ransom and pay over the odds. BUT I don't pretend to know the lads value, and it's very subjective, especially if his goals fire a team to promotion. I suppose what I'm saying is that we need to secure his signature very soon or move forward and secure an alternative. 6m (ish) would be a small price to pay for promotion, if indeed NM can help deliver it. It's not my money, and in Sven I trust, it seems he is building a great squad now.
Haydos Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Yeah, I just don't want us to be held to ransom and pay over the odds. Yeah, we really don't know the ins and outs of the owners, what they're really worth, what they can invest over what period of time, their true plans etc. If they are serious then a 6m bid would still probs be the ceiling for me. Any more and we're setting a truly ridiculous precedent.
Dabizas Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Talks of anything above 4 mill for maynard are ridiculous and 4 mill is pushing it! No way should be spend that much look elsewhere maybe even not english league
Jon the Hat Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 what a waste of ink Ink? You printed this shit???
escos Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Now I am not saying Maynard is worth these crazy figures being thrown around, but let's not forget Conner "iamveryoverrated" Wickham has just been sold for a fee that could rise to £13mil!!!!!
Clazie Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Now I am not saying Maynard is worth these crazy figures being thrown around, but let's not forget Conner "iamveryoverrated" Wickham has just been sold for a fee that could rise to £13mil!!!!! Bought buy an established, fairly well off premier league club.
thybluefox Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Bought buy an established, fairly well off premier league club. Doesn't mean the lad is worth it though.
Clazie Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Doesn't mean the lad is worth it though. No, but they aren't spending this kind of money with a risk. They're already where we want to be. And I think the lad has bags of talent.
Right Back Atyeo Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 "We do not want to sell our best players, and certainly not to another Championship club". - Colin Sextone, Bristol City chairman. How many more times, ffs?
RyanB89 Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 "We do not want to sell our best players, and certainly not to another Championship club". - Colin Sextone, Bristol City chairman. How many more times, ffs? He didnt say he wouldnt....
thybluefox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 "We do not want to sell our best players, and certainly not to another Championship club". - Colin Sextone, Bristol City chairman. How many more times, ffs? Huge difference between 'we do not want to' and 'we will not'. Not saying its going to happen, just pointing out your argument is flawed.
Adster Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Someone was just going round on Facebook telling everyone that Bert told him that we've finalised a deal for Maynard.
Bert Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Someone was just going round on Facebook telling everyone that Bert told him that we've finalised a deal for Maynard. Any idea who it was? I certainly haven't said that.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 141 pages in, is now the right time to admit I'd not really heard that much about Nicky Maynard before we got interested in him? I don't particularly remember him against us in the past or seeing that much of him at all. I am guessing he must have something about him if Sven has made repeated bids and we have a thread of this length about his possible signing (although the latter is not a particularly accurate barometer - see Kaebi, Lazko etc for previous FoxesTalk overreactions). Anyway, having said all that, it's got me excited enough that I will be disappointed if we don't get him now.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Any idea who it was? I certainly haven't said that. But you're not saying it's not true...
thybluefox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Any idea who it was? I certainly haven't said that. Nathan Lowe on the facebook transfer rumour page. Not that anyone has been right on there yet with a rumour.
Adster Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Any idea who it was? I certainly haven't said that. Yeah mate. His Facebook name is 'Andy Lcfc Walsh'.
thybluefox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Yeah mate. His Facebook name is 'Andy Lcfc Walsh'. Ohh 2 people have said it, twice the BS! Unless Bert says otherwise, of course
Bert Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Well as far as I know nothing has gone on since the last rejected bid.
