DanTheFox07 Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 particluarly like this post from a bristol city fan:- You are aware that SL has stepped down as our chairman, aren't you?! Sounds a bit silly to be on their forum, gloating about how rich our chairman is, when our chairman is now Colin Sexstone, and we have to make significant inroads into the amount of money that we are loosing on an annual basis! Leicester are clearly just testing the water and DO have plenty of money to splash, should they be serious about signing NM. I agree with what their fans are saying tbh. If they really want him, then they will get him. Providing he is happy to move there. The only question is, how much we can squeeze out of them before it becomes a final offer. Unless of course, NM has given a sound indication to someone at the top that he does intend to sign the new deal that is on the table from us. Money talks and Leicester have more of it to throw around than we do.
Guest Bilo Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Why do Bristol City fans think they're about the same as us? Less money, ageing stadium, smaller fanbase and a decidedly nondescript history. Fair play we're hardly Real Madrid ourselves and there are a few clubs even in this division that are a bigger draw, but Bristol City? Leave it out.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 They really seem to think that Maynard is going to push for a transfer to them? Obviously with Sven and their investors they will be one of the contenders next season, but I see no point at all in him leaving for another club in this division it'd just be a sideways step, no matter how much Leicester fans with their 'massive club' mentality disagree. They sound like Forest fans on their forum

ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 why do Brizzle fans need to be racist ?? Its just a willy measuring competetion on that board it seems, my club have been in the prem longer than your club, we have a bigger stadium etc . All the usual bollox you get from your washed up ex top flight clubs in this league, nothing new..Not a chance he will go there, they have no better chance than us to go up next year. This league is so un-predictable you never know who will be up there come the end of the season. Add to that the fact that we have offered him what something like 17k a week in the new deal? It will be the Prem or staying with us, sorry to piss on the the fire of are asians friends in the midlands.
Babylon Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 I've been looking at their boards, and to be fair they seen to have quite a few sensible guys who can see the attraction of our club. Having Sven and signing people like Yakubu last year won't have gone unnoticed by other players (and some fans), they can see that the owners are hugely ambitious and are willing to back it with ££££. We may only have finished 7 points ahead of them last year, but the ambition the owners are showing here is in a different league at the moment. That's going to be attractive to players looking in on the club, add the other bits to it like fan base, stadium etc and it gives them something to think about. Some of them throw in the fact Leicester is a dump. Lets be honest, the centre is. But do they think the players are going to be living in the city centre, or in a terrace house off Belgrave Road? Drive 20 minutes and you are out in the countryside, which looks the same as the countryside in Bristol.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 why do Brizzle fans need to be racist ?? To be fair, EVERY club will have a very small minority of morons at the least. Wouldn't take that as an indication of all Bristol fans mentality. Tinpot - Yes. Racist - No.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 If they are serious then make us an offer can cant refuse...which would be ? ....Hmm 15 - 20m might open discussion, but NM would laugh in their face I imagine.

Babylon Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Thought Leon Crncic had a St. Matthews penthouse? He's probably on appearance based wages.... so he can't afford anything else.
bcfc99 Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Almost 20 pages on a transfer that is not going to happen? Strange one that.

Almost 20 pages on a transfer that is not going to happen? Strange one that. Yeah the player has shown such commitment to you.... how long has the contract been on the table now?
Mark_w Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Bristol City have pretty much finished mid-table Championship for quite a while, they didn't have Maynard for a lot of last season and still finished there. I'd suggest that £3M (Plus his wages) is worth more to them than the one more season of his goals unless they really, honestly believe they stand a good chance of promotion. If they are sure NM will not sign a new contract then it would be sensible for them to sell him on and use the money to try and re-build and push for a play-off spot. Bristol are a side that don't strike me as someone that will be challenging for promotion or battling relegation, they should think very carefully about how much he is worth to them.
bcfc99 Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 discussing how bcfc fans like to think their something special mate, thats what it is The irony of that comment is laughable. Anyhow im sure Nicky will be sitting in his house in Portishead as we speak creaming his pants at the prospect of playing for the mighty Foxes wont he? Seriously guys the lad is bound for the prem. It would be a huge yes huge sideways move to come to you.
MC Prussian Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Almost 20 pages on a transfer that is not going to happen? Strange one that. Admit it, you're all scared dawn Saff. Scared of losing Nicky Maynard to the mighty dump that is Leicester.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 • What has Cardiff got to do with anything? I think the poster on that BCFC board was using Cardiff as an example of a team that've ended right up shit creek through reckless spending, and not to get complacent merely because it seems we do now have a bit of cash to splash about. Fails to realise that Top and Sven have consistently re-iterated that no-one will be bought if it means we're being ripped off. They've both got their heads screwed on. £3.5 million is excessive for Maynard in my opinion, anything more than that and they'll be laughing. Great talent, glass knees.
