30,000. It's true our support is terrible when you compare it to the size of the area we're in. I can't remember the specific figuers but normally attendances rise by about 5,000 in new grounds which would take us to about 20-22 thousand attendances. Attendances increase with success though and the ground is ultimately being built for if/when we reach the Premier league.

Our ex chairman now owner said one of the main reasons the stadium is being built, is to allow the club to become self sustainable. At Ashton Gate our facilities are very poor whereas at Ashton Vale, various events will be held at the ground (concerts etc) to increase income coming into the club. Disablity facilities are poor at Ashton Gate as well and numerous other things.

Basically the stadium isn't being built simply for attendances. The club is still aiming to increase attendances though.

So basically saying, Sexstone/Lansdown plan to do a Coventry City.

Another soulless new ground, 50% capacity at best, including a fancy casino and/or whatnot. And you're paying for it, too (higher ticket prices, etc.).

Well it was Lansdowns idea not Sexstone. Sexstone has been chairman for only a month and doesn't have much money. We are still being funded by Lansdown.

If you look at the plans for the ground it certainly doesn't look 'shit' and isn't one of the souless bowls like Reading/Coventry. For me it looks much like Forest's ground (Shouldn't of said that on here really haha) which for me I like and Forests ground is nice which even I admit despite my dislike towards the club.

Again you don't know if it'll be 50% capacity at best. Last year you guys averaged 23k in the Walkers which has a capacity of 32k. I'm hoping we can at least have something similar to that to begin with.

I don't think we're being mugged at all. Why do you hate our directors so much?

Sorry for going off topic to anyone getting annoyed.

Well, the whole Maynard saga has gotten me a bit more interested in the overall plans and Bristol City's financial situation.

I know it's slightly-off topic (though still Maynard-related), but there's loads of money involved in what Sexstone and Lansdown have in mind (£92m for the new stadium???).

I just hope for you BCFC fans's sake that you won't have to pay a dear price for this ambitious endeavour.

The £4m sum for Maynard floating around is just a first sign of things to come - maximize your income whilst minimizing your overall spending.

I understand why an outsider would be more sceptical. Like I said previously though, SL has never let us down in his seven years as chairman and I don't expect him to begin letting us down now. Many fans believe he is the joint best chairman we've ever had at City.

Even if you weren't questioning our financial stability surely it would be best to get as high of a fee as we can for one of our players anyway?

EDIT - Forgot to mention a large part of the money is coming from the new Sainsbury's being built at Ashton Gate.

does anyone know if this is true. it was "lcfcinfoman" on twitter who claimed that he heard it on talksport.

can somebody on twitter ask him if it's true

I think he was just reporting on what was spreading around the boards from someone on Bentleys.

I see he's already transferred about £42m into the project's funds.

Still, always keep the possibility of getting another RICOH Arena in mind.

Our attendances are not too shabby when you look at the numbers overall - we're closer to 24k than 23k and the 32.5k max capacity has hardly ever been reached in the past 7, 8 years at the Walkers. I think the current maximum is closer to 31k something.

Your average of roughly 15k in a 21.5k stadium isn't really much better, is it.

Anyway, good luck with the new stadium. I got nothing against you lot, still think £4m is a steep asking price for a Championship striker, no matter how talented.

All in all, I know I'll be very glad once Maynard has made his mind up.

I can't really take reading about the sums involved any longer. lol

Another Bristol City fan here,

No all the racisum rubbish has stopped we can have a propper post with out the idiots from both board spoiling (more so our idiots)

Anyway,

Ashton Gate is indeed a 21.5k ground but we are only aloud a max 19457 insdie for various reasons yes we avg around 15k and are normall 3 or 4k short of max percentage wise we fill our ground the same as you lot (around 80 - 85% I think),

As for our owner Steve Lansdown, He runs a small investmest busieness called Hargreaves Lansdown which is one of the biggest in its sector in the uk and at the start of this year was floated on the FTSE100 it was one of the few buisness not to be affected by the banking crisis,

Steve Lansdown has around 750 million to his name last time the football rich list came out I think he was around 18th with another one of our Board members and vice chairman at 40th with round 80 million quid, so we're not short of money and I think we're one of the richest (if you take our owners wealth) in the league but as were seen as a small club people think we are skint which couldn't be further from the truth,

City need the new ground to grow which is gonna cost up 92 million 40 million of which is coming out of lansdowns pocket the rest from the sale of Ashton Gate to sainsburys so it isn't going to through us into debt,

as for the training ground well we've just finished the second phase of it now and have spent about 3 million in total on it so far the last phase it the Youth Acadmey (which we've had since 1996 and one of the first outside the prem and first in the 3rd teir to acheve prem acadmney status) so we haven't got bad facilities away from Ashton Gate just the ground its self is a hole,

The new ground isn't going to be a bowl as the fans were dead against it seeing how every club followed and copied you guys with it we want somthing differen't with 4 stands which is going to be more like forest and Anfield rather then Covenrty and Cardiff,

Once thats all sorted in the next 3 years or so you'll see us invest the kind of money you guys are rumoured to be investing on our playing staff, until then we are happy to stay a top half championship team,

As for our feelings on Maynard you can't blame us can you, if a club came sniffing round your player say forest or West Sham you'd be doing what some of our fans are doing,

Anyway we'll all see what going to happen next friday I personally think he will sign a contract with us with a 6 - 8 million get out clause as a thanks for nursing him back to health

Oh for the record he isn't injury prone he had a leg break when he was 18/19ish and last seasons knee injury that required surgery (he was fit in december but the club wouldn't risk him) apart from those major injurys he's been pritty fit,

4 mill plus waggy would be a bit steep

and no offense but even without sven and and the thais. were still a bigger club than you. you've never even won a league cup.

That really doesn't matter one bit to a player. You think they're going to take a pay cut to join a club that won a few League Cups over ten years ago?

The only real reason that we can attract Maynard away from Bristol is that we stand a better chance of promotion and we seem more ambitious and therefor willing to offer him more money. If it wasn't for those two facts then we would just be a sideways step for Maynard.

i think our owners are worth more than what is seen online. £113m would leave them about skint now with buying the club for 40m.

Steve Lansdown in 2009 was thought to be worth £280 million. Add to this selling his shares in the company he set up for £58 million last year. Some dollar that.

we were runners up to Man UTD in the top flight and runners up to them in the FA Cup

And we took the Welsh cup out of wales........beat that :crylaugh:

http://www.moneymarketing.co.uk/adviser-news/hargreaves-lansdown-pair-in-sunday-times-rich-list-top-100/1030629.article

Thats the latest rich list

"Lansdown is ranked 90, up from 150, with his wealth estimated at £750m.

Hargreaves stepped down as chief executive last year but remains an executive director. Lansdown also stepped down as executive director of the firm last year."

He's been trying to get his partner to buy into the club who has over a billion pound but he was having none of it,

They recond lansdown will become a billionaire in the next few years (last 5 his wealth shot up from 280 - 750 million)

Back to Maynard we'd rather let his contract run down then sell him to a rival thats the clubs stance but we all know if some one offers stupid money then he will be off, we already have his replacement in Brett Pitman,

Good luck in your promotion campaign, we hoping for play-offs ourselfs but think a top 10 finish is likely
