Dylan Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 £4million plus Waghorn would be absolutely stupid imo. £4miliion on its own is extortion. £2.75million plus Waghorn sounds fairer-- even though that's a bit steep still.
Babylon Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 i've just heard via another forum we have offered 4 million and waghorn now. FFS... that has come from Bentleys roof. Some pleb reckons he heard it on the radio, nobody else in the world has though... can we not perpetuate this rumour.
lestajigs Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Why are we discussing their owners finance? Can we get back to the topic of Nicky Maynard? I know it's getting well boring now
shiv Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 hehe, yes that chant really gets on our wick http://www.moneymarketing.co.uk/adviser-news/hargreaves-lansdown-pair-in-sunday-times-rich-list-top-100/1030629.article Thats the latest rich list "Lansdown is ranked 90, up from 150, with his wealth estimated at £750m. Hargreaves stepped down as chief executive last year but remains an executive director. Lansdown also stepped down as executive director of the firm last year." He's been trying to get his partner to buy into the club who has over a billion pound but he was having none of it, They recond lansdown will become a billionaire in the next few years (last 5 his wealth shot up from 280 - 750 million) Back to Maynard we'd rather let his contract run down then sell him to a rival thats the clubs stance but we all know if some one offers stupid money then he will be off, we already have his replacement in Brett Pitman, Good luck in your promotion campaign, we hoping for play-offs ourselfs but think a top 10 finish is likely We've already offered stupid money but you've rejected!
Babylon Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Back to Maynard we'd rather let his contract run down then sell him to a rival thats the clubs stance But your chairman changed his quote on your OS. In the morning it said "we will not sell to a rival", by 5pm it had been changed to something along the lines of "we'd rather not sell him". If he wants to go, no way in a million years will they make him run down his contract and lose out on the money.
enex Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Another Bristol City fan here, No all the racisum rubbish has stopped we can have a propper post with out the idiots from both board spoiling (more so our idiots) Anyway, Ashton Gate is indeed a 21.5k ground but we are only aloud a max 19457 insdie for various reasons yes we avg around 15k and are normall 3 or 4k short of max percentage wise we fill our ground the same as you lot (around 80 - 85% I think), As for our owner Steve Lansdown, He runs a small investmest busieness called Hargreaves Lansdown which is one of the biggest in its sector in the uk and at the start of this year was floated on the FTSE100 it was one of the few buisness not to be affected by the banking crisis, Steve Lansdown has around 750 million to his name last time the football rich list came out I think he was around 18th with another one of our Board members and vice chairman at 40th with round 80 million quid, so we're not short of money and I think we're one of the richest (if you take our owners wealth) in the league but as were seen as a small club people think we are skint which couldn't be further from the truth, City need the new ground to grow which is gonna cost up 92 million 40 million of which is coming out of lansdowns pocket the rest from the sale of Ashton Gate to sainsburys so it isn't going to through us into debt, as for the training ground well we've just finished the second phase of it now and have spent about 3 million in total on it so far the last phase it the Youth Acadmey (which we've had since 1996 and one of the first outside the prem and first in the 3rd teir to acheve prem acadmney status) so we haven't got bad facilities away from Ashton Gate just the ground its self is a hole, The new ground isn't going to be a bowl as the fans were dead against it seeing how every club followed and copied you guys with it we want somthing differen't with 4 stands which is going to be more like forest and Anfield rather then Covenrty and Cardiff, Once thats all sorted in the next 3 years or so you'll see us invest the kind of money you guys are rumoured to be investing on our playing staff, until then we are happy to stay a top half championship team, As for our feelings on Maynard you can't blame us can you, if a club came sniffing round your player say forest or West Sham you'd be doing what some of our fans are doing, Anyway we'll all see what going to happen next friday I personally think he will sign a contract with us with a 6 - 8 million get out clause as a thanks for nursing him back to health Oh for the record he isn't injury prone he had a leg break when he was 18/19ish and last seasons knee injury that required surgery (he was fit in december but the club wouldn't risk him) apart from those major injurys he's been pritty fit, :crylaugh:
Bayfox Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 FFS... that has come from Bentleys roof. Some pleb reckons he heard it on the radio, nobody else in the world has though... can we not perpetuate this rumour. no football forums actually and the radio station in question is Talksport. and it was a bristol city fan that posted it on there and they all want him to stay so why mention it?
Mark_w Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 no football forums actually and the radio station in question is Talksport. and it was a bristol city fan that posted it on there and they all want him to stay so why mention it? It's fake, Talk Sport said they didn't report it... Plus no one else listening heard it myself included.
Babylon Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 no football forums actually and the radio station in question is Talksport. and it was a bristol city fan that posted it on there and they all want him to stay so why mention it? Funny how talksport have denied making that report. You do know that rumours can spread?
Bayfox Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Funny how talksport have denied making that report. You do know that rumours can spread? yes I am aware of that, just thought it was strange that a drizzle city fan would bring it up when they are all suggesting he won't leave.
Mark_w Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 yes I am aware of that, just thought it was strange that a drizzle city fan would bring it up when they are all suggesting he won't leave. If you go on their forum most of them where ecstatic at the idea of getting 4M and Waggy for Maynard. Or at least most of them before they found out it was BS.
Bayfox Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 If you go on their forum most of them where ecstatic at the idea of getting 4M and Waggy for Maynard. so would i be, 4million for a championship player and a young prospect thrown in i'd consider that a good deal, but a lot of them seem to think he won't come to us. If i was them tho, i'd be impressed my chairman had got such a good deal, or maybe I'm judging it against the fact that we have seemed to give away our young prospects in the last few years.
thybluefox Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 I read *somewhere* that it was £4m + Waghorn on a season long loan. That'd be easier to swallow. Still bullshit though.
Petchy Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Their fans are deluded... One said: ''The asset Waghorn is probably worth zero with the money he is on. An asset can't have a negative value but with the money he probably is on the Maynard deal should be worth a good part less than £4m.'' To which another replied: "It does not work like that. If he was bought for 3m - That figure would be used to calculate a value depending how long his contract was and how long is left. Lets say hypothetically, he signed a 4 year deal and he was halfway through - his "value" would be 1.5m." So Maynard should be "valued" at 750k then?
roblcfc84 Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 I don't get all the hysteria around Maynard. No way he's worth 4 million. He a good striker no doubt but 6 million (as waggy cost atleast 2) is crazy talk Hernandez was only 7 million.
Babylon Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Their fans are deluded... Using their method of working out valuations Waghorn is worth £6m.
Mark_w Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Using their method of working out valuations Waghorn is worth £6m. No it wouldn't...?

He a good striker no doubt but 6 million (as waggy cost atleast 2) is crazy talk Hernandez was only 7 million. Who's Hernandez? £7m! I'd rather sign a proven English striker who has performed in this country! etc etc

Guest Bilo Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Using their method of working out valuations Waghorn is worth £6m. Would accept £4m plus Maynard though.
Babylon Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 No it wouldn't...? I'm talking about the one they use to work out a player in the last year of his contract is worth £10m.
roblcfc84 Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Martyn - Hernandez as in man uniteds Mexican wonder kid who puts all of the proven (not that there are any except rooney) english strikers to shame
