Zed Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 When was the last time Forrest spent 4million? I can't see them spending that much. Sven shouldn't really go over 2.5million. He'd be better off spending the money aboard. I hope BC keep him and he walks on a free next season. They clearly want to much. Let some other fool pay it Sven.
Narborough_fox Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Whenever I hear this song reminds me of Bristol

I am Rod Hull Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Leicester have Kasabain.. Bristol have the Wurzels..
tylesta Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Hahaha just been on the bristol forum so much laughter, one brizzle fan says they can hold out for 6-7m. some seem to want to keep him and think they will get promotion if they do. if they did sell they still have one of the better strike forces in the champ pitman and stead they seem to think he is prem bound why would he take sideways steps they wont sell for less than 5-6 m could get 2 20 goal strikers for that eg graham and the yak
Mark_w Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Bristol's board have pulled a blinder if they can convince anyone to stump up £4 Million for a player in the last year of his contract coming back from injury, who's never played in the Prem.
Finnegan Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Leicester have Kasabain.. Bristol have the Wurzels.. ... I'm off to the West country.
Unabomber Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 I don't understand the general racism of Bristol fans, Maynard is a brother?!?!?! Are they seriously that retarded?
marbelladave Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 £5 million for Maynard? £3 million for Mackail-Smith? Somebody is really taking the piss........ Sven will never waste that sort of money when he can spend it on booze and fast women.....
The Doctor Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Leicester have Kasabian.. Bristol have the Wurzels.. and showwaddy waddy. With the brizzle fans being as bitter as they are now it could be very amusing if/when Maynard leaves. edit: & 6/7m for a player in the last year of his contract? Even Tater peeler with peter risdale as his chairman wouldn't justify spending that much in that situation.
Maybes Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 4m seems a tad too high for me. Especially when you look at the championships top scorer leaving Watford for £3.5m. We shall see.
Itsthejoeker Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 £5 million for Maynard? £3 million for Mackail-Smith? Somebody is really taking the piss........ Sven will never waste that sort of money when he can spend it on booze and fast women..... Or offer the yak higher wages...
Legend_in_blue Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Look at it from Bristol City's point of view people. Tin pot club. Decent striker. Probably the most expensive asset they've ever had at their club. They'll probably never see this sort of money again for a player at a club the size of theirs. Let them revel in it. Within 12 months with the way they're dealing with it, they'll have lost £3 million.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 maybe the plan is to put massive bids in for all the top players because we can afford it, knowing our rivals would have to match these bids if they want the player, therefore giving them less money to spend on the rest of their team and consequently making them weaker. Or maybe Sven knows nicky maynards agent and has said to him "i'll get you 4 million for maynard if you get me such and such". Its all mind games... I would say it was more likely to be the other away around with City and Forest trying to draw more cash out of us. This is of course the down side to announcing your wealth.
Zed Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Maynard's worth more than 2.5mill. Maybe so. Maybe a lot more if he had 2 years left on his contract. But BC could end up 2.5million out of pocket if he lets his contract expire. Big gamble IMO. Hence why I fail to him being worth 4million.
Jimothy Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Maynard's worth more than 2.5mill. Maynard is valued at more than £2.5m, but with a year left on his contract his current saleable price is probably about £2.5m. You can't expect to get full price for someone who will be free in a year. If Maynard is worth £5m now that would mean he's probably worth £10m while on a 3 year contract, which is a joke!
marbelladave Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Or offer the yak higher wages... Don't be silly.... With that kind of money to spend you, you want to spend it on football? You need to get out more!.......
KFS Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 The Bristolians want to hold out for a six finger sum. Boom boom
tylesta Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 the thing that cracks me up is there adament he will join a premiership club. How many prem clubs have expressed intrest? i know they might do but would they spend 4m? no way. if maynard doesn't sign a new contract and they don't get the money they want, aint he free to talk to teams in january?
That lad from Japan Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 You can't compare the maynard and graham transfers. They are both of equal quality and are at similarly sized clubs, however Bristol City are by no means poor, in fact have a fair bit of money. Watford are skint, they need all they can get. Bristol City also have a far better chance of promotion than watford but only with maynard. Also the price they paid for maynard is a factor. Remmeber they rejected 6 mil from newcastle in january

The People's Hero Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Having only a year left changes a lot though. If he had more than that then it's completely different. Indeed. It can only be worth BCFC keeping hold of him this year if they are going to go all out on promotion, which would mean a lot of strengthening as far as I can tell. Its just brinksmanship. They will sell.
natchman Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Leicester have Kasabain.. Bristol have the Wurzels.. Kasabian have an awesome drummer! Funnily enough he's from bristol
